This is my favourite turret; it only works with heavy and medium hulls, though. It messes up your aim and you end up toppling over with a light hull.

I only play with Hornet, and being able to move is important with Shaft, but then, play style dictates, I like camping and then chasing down my damaged prey.  That said, for most, I would agree, the recoil and lightness of it makes it a hard sell.  If people want to try shaft, they'd be well advised to stick with those turrets.

Now, that said, all the changes lately have blown my game play out of the water, especially the reduced turret speed and longer reload, coupled with the low damage distance arcade shots, but all said and told, light hull is good for base defense when covering a flag and hitting hard and then giving chase.  The real problem now is that the low damage arcade shots (the ones that are low damage) make the chase option sometimes futile.  I wish they would leave this much maligned turret alone.  We complain relatively little about it, and still it always gets messed with in ways that make game play suddenly irrelevant and useless.  I long for some stability that makes me think that what I'm spending crystals on will not suddenly become a useless in terms of play style in a few months.

Anyways, yes, good advice for most, stay with medium and heavys as the reload time and turret rotation is killing light hull play badly.

Yes, the arcade reduction made this far less enjoyable and playable in a variety of roles. It has become more of a camping turret again. I loved the arcade shots for the few weeks that they served both long-range and short-range damage. Now...not so much.

Does anyone have one of the alterations for the shaft?

If so, which one and what are your thoughts?

I just finished a game with my m3 titan/m3 shaft and I was perpetually one shot killed by two shafts (legend status). I don't think they were drugging non-stop as the time frame was too consistent. My conclusion was they were m4 with an alteration too.

Just wondering what other people's experiences are.

Thanks!

If my opponent team carries shaft, i always use to be scared of playing that battle but now  i know almost all tricks to troll the shaft

Then you haven't played against proper shaft user.

What is your "trick" for when you are in a medium hull and they one-shot-kill as you spawn?

You interpreted my post as this?

And FYI... I do have a protection module for shaft.

Oh, didn't see you had one. You have a lot of modules. Since you have 2 modules from shaft why are you still complaining about shafts?

Keep in mind that a shaft has to charge for 4 full seconds before being able to one shot a medium. Even if the shaft was pre-charged it still takes about 3 seconds to turn from a ghost tank to a solid one. On most maps 3 seconds is more than enough time to get into cover unless you spawn on the outer edges of your base.

I own the m4 shaft and when I play team battles most vikings are able to run away from my laser while they are still a ghost tank. The only way to get them is to camp in a place that can see the outer edges of the map and shoot them as they spawn.

One shotting vikings is really only possible with a m4 shaft at our ranks, as shafts max sniping damage is equal to the health of a m4 viking and even 1 mess MU will mean that the viking survives the shaft shot. Bascially, what I am trying to say is that one shotting a viking with the shaft isn't easy as you might think in team battles, but I can tell you it is a lot easier in dm.

Magnum completely eliminated the need for a Shaft nerf.  Once the Magnum players start getting the hang of hit they will be deadly with it. It's already pretty good against Shaft- counters my whole gameplay. I'm not used to being hit while reloading behind cover. In Shaft wars *highways* it's all about how fast can you identify and shoot a target while avoiding being hit yourself. Magnum changes that completely.

I've seen Youtube videos of the Magnum and it doesn't look too good.

First of all, I don't hate Shaft - I save that emotion for Ricco and Freeze

But I am not a fan of the one-shot-kill on Viking.

- Though Shaft takes time to charge, that is irrelevant to the Viking receiving the hit. Most shafts are opportunists. The kill is the key, not number of shots. So a Shaft will sit in the bushes even for 30 sec doing nothing... then blam!  Viking spawning dead.

- Viking, though medium hull, does not have great acceleration. maps like Serpuhov and Rio... there are spawn points where it can be targeted even after "ghosting" is done. As soon as you spawn in those spots you know you're dead. Very frustrating.

- Light hulls have a much better chance of getting to cover after spawning and so actually have better chance than Viking of avoiding death.

Well, I think the Freeze hates you   :P

It really does.

I think that what you experience with Freeze is what I experience with Smoky.  I find them arrogant and pitiless. Sound familiar? ;)

Shaft can one shot my Vking full HP+armor. This is ridiculously OP -_-

You do realize that was the purpose of Shaft fro mthe start, one shot, one kill.  Stop complaining, used to be I heard it could one shot a Mammy in one shot, and that was like Mammy m3 vs m2 Shaft.

Well it takes Shaft 4 seconds to make a full charge. Firebird can also kill you in 4 seconds. No problem there ^.^

Sure - but - Shaft can do it from other side of map from cover. Firebird has to get close to do that...

Wolverine848 answered for me. As for FogOfWar_XXX, I don't complain, it's just a fact. But I guess I triggered you. 565 hours with Shaft...

I think the whole point is that you are missing the point.  Shaft is designed to identify and kill enemy tanks from range. To accomplish this it comes with a lot of disadvantages. How would you beat a sniper in real life without nerfing his gun? Avoid his fire, look when he has just shot, sneak up on him, etc. All of those apply to Shaft.

And sure- as a hornet and freeze user Shaft is extremely annoying at times. THose times are usually when they are on a winning team. When Shafts are on a losing team they're pretty hapless.
