Thank you. I don't think I could have gotten a better answer for my interests!

Long story short, I decided to convert a Smoky / Titan into ... some other turret / Titan. Finally decided on Shaft but I havn't used it since the first weeks when I had just discovered this game. As a long time Smoky user I don't want to just sit and look through the cope all day. So your answer provided exactly what I'd hoped to learn. :)

With 225 hours with Hunter-Shaft I can say that using this turret in Legend ranks is manageable but extremely difficult, but I have techniques to keep myself alive.

1. Practice mouse controls

These types of controls are most suited for Shaft, since you can aim very quickly and when you press the right mouse button, you can quickly monitor your surroundings whilst no moving your turret. Perfect for fooling the enemy that they have the upper hand by sneaking behind you.

2. Do not prolong your scope mode

When searching for targets, do not do so whilst in scope mode, otherwise the laser might give your position away and deter any enemies from crossing your path. Instead, locate targets in normal mode and once you find someone you are sure you can kill within 5 seconds gun for him. If the target escapes your scope immediately discard your charged shot and locate a new one while reloading. You never know who's trying to gun you down while you're a sitting duck, and you can probably deal with them using your arcade shots as well.

3. Aim for missions which give you double power/buy only double power in sales

'tis the only supply you'll ever need. It will halve your charge up time, which is great if you're keen on one-shotting almost everyone on the playing field and then some (maybe even druggers as well). If you can, stock up on Nitros as well, as it gives a turret rotation speed boost, which also applies in Scoped mode.

This are all the tips I could give as for now. Maybe I'll post more in the future. Keep Shafting bros

Awesome Game play with Shaft+Viking, I love how you can capitalise on arcade and use scope too if there is a drugger, 1 shot :)

I mostly used arcade in this battle and won:

Was that in a 15 minute non-pro battle?

Were you teaming?

If yes, with how many players?

Unbelievable  :o

Yes, non-pro. In fact, the 2nd place guy tried so hard to catch up to me lol.

If I was teaming, I'd have one less guy to kill, so no. :P

Hey stinger did you just set the record for most kills in 15 min battle?

I don't think so, but it was fun regardless.

For DMs I like to camp in one spot where I won't be attacked from behind, once I found my spot, I would be setting mines and drugging to stay there as long as I can if not for the rest of the battle :P

This is for when I use guns like shaft, railgun, and magnum.

So the other night, I was in an industrial zone ctf battle and I planted myself in the corner of a building (which i call "corner clamping") and out came an enemy ricochet that went and kept shooting me, but since i was corner clamped, his plasma balls did not budge me, meaning his shots did not hinder my aim, and the ricochet died because I shot him in the face :D

Do you want protection against shaft, or are you a regular shaft user and looking for protection modules so that you can be more effective at sniping? Or both?

What is the best protection module for shafts? I have 36% Thunder Vulcan Twins

Try the Griffon T-A M3...solid for Rail, Thunder, and Shaft...that's my favorite large map module.

Lol, tonight i had 1000 exp mission in cp mode. I finished it approx. 35 minutes just using my m2 shaft :D

The secret was mainly the pistol mode and double damage.

The enemy team never expected a shaft to have the balls to tackle a group of them straight on, like I did :D

^Careful using that tactic in my rank, you'd get shredded by a combined force of Ricos and Twins in seconds.

Ricochet is the worst weapon to face when using shaft even an m2 does very high damage and its fire rate is very high, you should take cover instead of arcading him one on one scope is very difficult to use against

a rico too, i also find that teammates usually push you when you are in scope idk why

Because you joined a noob team.

They should bring back Shaft's penetration power.
