Get M2 Smoky through a kit.

Kits are only useful if AT LEAST 3 /4 items are desired.  paint - worthless except to buyers. If module not really needed then kit not worth buying.

Especially if MUs are already sunk into the item wanted for next M-level.

A new account can MU m1 Smokey 10/10 = m2 by WO4 or WO5.  Why wait for Captain to buy a kit?

I have M1 Smoky-Titan 6 or 7/10, can confirm

Smoky can easily mess up my Vulcan's aim even though it's mounted on Hunter. Vulcan's gyroscope doesn't seem that effective against Smoky.

With smoky +impact ammo Vulcans are easy meat.

Would it be better to upgrade smoky from 10 to 15/20 or keep it at 10/20 and buy precision targeting? I want to mount it on titan M3 once the sales come around.

"Better" is how do like things but I can suggest this much.  The alteration will give you a different type of performance.  MU steps will add a handful of % points improving what you already do.  Which ever works better for you is bettr.

The alteration will do a lot more damage and cost less crystals than microupgrading, but there's the reload speed... Tough to say if I should get the alt or give up on smoky and focus on something else.

The alteration makes no difference at all, i've tested it out several times.

I have fully MUed smoky myself and im going to buy the M1 alteration because its the most OP!!

The alteration will do more damage for you per shot there is no doubt.  It all depends on your play preference though. I can adapt to the slower firing rate but it is mot as fun for me.

Now if you really understand how the crit hit probabilities work you an count your shots.  Quite often you will know you will gt a crit hit on th enext shot or two. A crit with DD and that alteration wil deliver a real nice hit and one most players simply do not expect from a pop-gun smoky. And you can land that puppy across the map and BANG. They did not see that coming. If you use it that way yes it does make a difference.

For though the +impact serves me better.  It is quite fun to hit an enemy on the bridge. You can see him struggle to regain control. But no he can't quite avoid going over the edge.

But he has enough control to shoot and parkour his fall with his recoil! Then you shoot again at his nose. His tank immediately flips and lands on its turret. :)

Aslo: Double armor does not do squat against impact.

Glad you were able to make an informed choice. xD

You went and got me to use that alteration for the first time is a long time. It was interesting. I ended up running with this Hammer/Viking. He'd hit someon I'd hit them they blew up. I got in several of the point-blank dances with fire tanks. I rely on fast impact aa lot for those. I did not have that but I still won then what felt 'normal' rate of succees.

Then in this game with this same hammer guy and one other shooter team mate  I got involved in what was no exaggeration one of the ost epic gunfights since I'v been playing.  A top-ten fight. Me and Hammer and got into it right at teh ruined tank in th underpass of 2024. There were at least 5 there at first and pairs kept arriving. WE mowed down 8 or 10 and at the end me and Hammer were still up. Whoever it was helping us was gone but me and hammer were up.

So... maybe I have been selling this alteration short. I think I will use it more often.

I've lost my fear of Railgun ever since I bought Smoky M1, it's so easy to make them miss their shot (when the enemy is using Hornet, that is)

I also feel more capable of defeating Firebird, just antecipate their move, back down and shoot them up. I use critical shots to finish off heavy foes or flag carriers. In short, Smoky is a great turret and it helped me improve my game.

I'll probably ditch all my other turrets.

Smoky M4 reload time should be reduced to 1.4.

Just a mere suggestion because it feels too inferior to Thunder M4 since Smoky no longer has the edge over Thunder when it comes to impact force.

Also the difference between M3 & M4 Thunder is much bigger than Smoky's.

Yeah I would've picked my M4 Thunder over Smoky aswell if it weren't for the MASSIVE AMOUNTS of Thunder protection on the battlefield.

People underestimate the little thing and I make use of the relatively fast reload and great impact force; deadly combo.

I think they removed Smoky's impact from standard equipment and made it an option to buy. It's a shame that the players now have to choose between Increased Impact OR Critical Shots.

I don't know GoldReign, both alterations seem to accentuate two types of Smoky users.

I've always been the stock-kind of guy, but I love my impact alteration in certain cases. :D

The other alteration gives Smoky a very slow reload, too slow for me but I can see why some players would favor it especially when using heavier hulls for mid defence. The critical hit is somewhat predictable and you can really suprise people with it. Just not my type of gameplay; impact force is always there and critical shots don't do that much more damage than normal shots up in the later modifications of Smoky.

No it is not. Having to make trade-off decisions is at the core of the concept of gaming.
