AFAIk yes, but not anytime soon. I get the feeling that it could be a lot faster than that of Thunder or Gauss, though.

Tempting...so very tempting. I guess you can go ahead and upgrade it with no regrets, really. Mk7 Smoky is powerful in its own right, and I think you should already be noticing just how powerful it is. Go for it.

All of my Smokies (from 2nd LT to this account) are currently going from Mk 6.6 to 6.7

I've never been that bothered by paying full price for main equipment / upgrades on main equipment (and I don't use anything else).

I'll get discounts on the first 7 MUs if I can (like 30% on those 6.6 to 6.7 ones), but getting discounts on the last 3 MUs is more important because they cost as much as the first 7

I've upgraded as much stuff as I can and ignored the cost in lots of cases because it's a matter of survival, lots of people at my ranks with Mk 7 turrets and a GS that indicates upgrades, on the way to Mk 8

For reference, this account has Hunter Mk 6.7 , Smoky Mk 6.6, and four modules at 31%, but my GS is only 6394. I'm seeing Captains with Mk 7s and a GS of 8000+

Noooooooooo! Since it can only damage a single target, why take away only compensation it has (instant hit) over the turrets that can perform splash damage?

Smoky is truly OP in m2 and m3, might goes against Thunder with it's reload speed, great impact force

It was available when your Smoky was M2. After October 31st, 2018, the requirement for unlocking the alteration was changed to having the rank of Warrant Officer 4 and its price reduced by half. 

 

After the recent Augment update, it is available at any rank but only from containers.

Just used my mk4 smoky on this account for several battles straight and I didn't do too bad. But of course, the performance issue was due to me having a weak modification for my rank.

I have an mk7 smoky and mk7 titan on my colonel account (lol mk update of course). I already bought the HPAS alt back when it was like cheaper. I'm thinking of getting autocannon. Worth it?

Autocannon is more like a troll turret - very little damage with the normal shots but totally annoying when you don't know where it's coming from. However, if you stay on target, the CRITs come faster. Also, the speed of the reload interrupts the target's repair kit from performing a total heal as long as you stay on target. I just wish this alt had a little more impact.

Just tested the high precision aiming system alteration for smoky on my WO4 account which has an mk5.8 smoky.

Let's get the most obvious out of the way. This alt basically turns smoky into a splashless thunder with critical hits.

 

Other things to note is that this version of smoky is less of an in your face type like stock smoky is and more of a distance fighter. So it requires a bit more skill to use than stock smoky.

So is it good or not? I'm planning to buy it' I'd say I'm okay with Smoky. I get a D/L of around 14-15 each match when I'm serious.
