Hey Wolverine, how many upgrades does your Smoky have and how much damage do you usually do with non-critical shots up close?

There must be a reason for the sudden surge in Autocannon usage.

My smoky is m3 18/20.  I probably get damage in the 53-59 range within max damage range.  it's negligible really.  Only the frequent criticals make it useful.  Impact is nerfed -66% too - so... really it pales in comparison to twins that way.

Auto-cannon is probably most effective at it's unlock rank - since the reload is fixed at 0.5s and not tied to a proportion of the reload by m-level.

At Lt. General rank I'm sure targets feel like it is a twins.

53-59? Is that when both you of aren't using supplies? You should be dealing close to 70, 80 damage.

I'm just guessing.  Seemed accurate.  In any event - it has very little effect on target.

Need to make sure. Surely you notice the many regular shot damage numbers on the screen. This is if both of you have no supplies or if both you have all supplies activated.

I want to see if the damage has been silently increased/decreased or something.

So I've played ~ 15 battles with M2 and M3 Smoky and I don't know what to say.

Part of me feels like it's balanced but a bigger part feels like it's a bit underpowered. I don't dominate with it but I usually get around the middle or 3rd place, 2nd place if my team did well.

I bought Supercumulative Rounds to see how it plays and I like it. I get a critical maybe every 6 shots on average. It really does catch them off-guard, especially if I hit them once and then remove ~78% of their HP 1.49 seconds after.

Incendiary Rounds may be nice...but it's just not fun to play with to be honest. I may get more kills using Incendiary Smoky but I'd have more fun playing with Supercumulative Smoky.

I have much more fun playing RGC Magnum but playing with Smoky is fun as well.

Also, something I noticed in a Forest RGB battle earlier today. My Smoky reloads in 1.49 seconds and Thunder reloads in 1.725 seconds at least. I don't see how the Thunder was able to match my firing rate for so long (we fired more than 10 shots on each other, I had Thunder protection). I'll blame server latency for this, but I still don't see how my firing rate wasn't appearing to be faster than his, even after so much time had passed.

The thunder user was probably using hacks, like you said, even an m4 thunder with sledgehammer rounds would reload as fast as 1.725 seconds and smoky m3 reloads every 1.494 seconds. So it's probably best to assume that the thunder user you faced in forest was using hacks or cheats.

Buyer's remorse is finally setting in. Had some really insufferable DM battles with Smoky. I think I'll only use it in team modes.

And I would guess that my Smoky would need to be upgraded to M4 to be able to perform much, much better.

buy high precision aiming system and start looking for kills to steal, dueling won't get you anywhere.

Was considering it during the sale but I decided to keep the crystals to micro-upgrade my Isida.

High precision aiming system is when enemy's smoky protections start becoming useful.

In those ~ 15 battles, I went up against a few with maximum Smoky protection. I was basically tickling them. It's weird that it cripples against multiple enemies with protection but does fairly alright when the enemy is unprotected. I don't really fear HPAS Smokies, only Incendiary and Cryo Smokies.

It seems as if I'm better off as a supportive mid-fielder than an offensive Smoky.

It takes 40% protection to even be decent against smoky without High precision aiming system alt, while it only takes 15% protection to be decent against a normal reloading thunder, 40% makes it useless against that player.

I have it. rarely used it.  You might as well use Thunder and get splash damage.

Makes me wonder how those Viking Smokies dominate on the front lines.

Well the answer is obvious to me, because it's smoky, it's right up there with twins and firebird as the most likely turret to dominate.

As far a Vikings are concerned, the OD helps only a little bit. Not like titans dome where it's almost unkillable or hunters emp where you're still vulnerable even after you escape for a good 27 seconds.

usefull only in DM, while thunder is better on paper but its nullified by the abundant use grizzly.

can't answer that, i don't pay attention to others during the game, but what i can say for fact is that out of all hulls viking is the worst option for smoky.

with all due respect.

twins is the polar opposite of smoky.

never put smoky or any other turret in the same category as twins.

But the auto cannon is like the long range version of twins.

But the auto cannon is like the long range version of twins.

Only in the mechanics.

Impact and DPS are not comparable to twins.

When auto-cannon first came out - I'd agree with you.  But the extra damage nerf they applied really reduced it's OP-ness.

It's serviceable, but - I don't get that many kills with it.  It's more of an annoying turret than dangerous turret.

Twins is both...

I was just on my @Killer2_the_best account using isida viking I went into CTF and right off the bat we were faced against like 5 smokies, 2 incendiary, 1 cryo, and 2 regular. And they just seem to keep coming back to our base every 20 seconds, really annoying.

If this doesn't show the power of smoky, I don't know what will.

Now imagine 5 LCR railguns waltzing through your base oneshotting people with hornet OD

You can say that about any other turret
