I'm wondering why it's a big mistake though. Is Stock Twins not good enough? I like the idea of splash damage for an infinitely-shooting turret. I see many instances where Stock Twins would prevail over Stable Plasma Twins.

Yes, it's definitely not good enough without that alteration, you have to try it to know what I'm talking about. I cannot fathom how some players could even join a battle without having it equipped, although for matchmaking I do agree the long range alteration is better for larger maps.

When I first got Twins m3, the only thing I noticed was that its performance was seriously lacking compared to my Ricochet. You may think the splash damage is helpful, but the radius is so damn small you need tanks to be glued to each other for it to actually make an impact.

In my opinion, a Twins that can't slam into other tanks without taking self-damage is a failure of a turret. This gun isn't like Thunder or Magnum, here you need to be close to enemies to be able to deal full damage. There's even a Twins kit named "Ram", must be called that for a reason.

Worst twins alteration is Heavy plasmagun.

Spent 45k crys on 50% off sale to get a crap alteration.

CHANGE MY MIND.

Only if you don't know what situations it has advantages in.

If you're going to use it as a general melee weapon, yes it's a failure because it fires so slowly compared to Twins' other alts and it will get you killed, either from self-damage or from faster-firing weapons.

I'm not going to try and change your mind because it is in fact an underwhelming alteration, which is impractical for most situations. Stabilized plasma is by far the most useful alt. for Twins, if you don't have it already then you've made a big mistake not buying it.

True.  I found where it does have an advantage is that it deals more damage per shot than the other Twins alts.  I can kill heavy hulls head-on with it.

Second, if you plan ahead, it makes an excellent surprise weapon.  I often speed towards an enemy and start firing at them from about 10 tank lengths away.  By the time they've heard/seen/noticed me, they have a LOT of slow-moving projectiles about to land on them.

Splash damage helps, although it has limited range I found it easier to make multiple kills with plasmagun in DM battles rather than CTF where the enemy has nothing better to do than look for you.  In DM battles plasmagun will take out two enemies fighting each other.

It is also useful for CP battles where you can hit groups of enemies sat waiting on a Capture Point.

And less specifically, it's handy for emptying the space where a gold box is about to land. :P Although Thunder or a Mammoth OD will do that just as well.

I agree.  Stabilised Plasma should have been the stock Twins.

Also useful for making it difficult for enemies to aim at you, and also for making it difficult for Wasps to get anywhere near a flag in CTFs.

About ramming...some twins players charge right up to me and hit me...it is really frustrating lol and effective. Is that a main twins strategy?

Well that's how it was before the splash damage was added. They wanted to curb that so they added splash damage to discourage it and put an alteration to remove the implemented splash damage. Everyone just bought the alteration and used it like the former Twins.

I do that if I'm using the Stabilised Plasma alt.  But I usually ram from the side and then continue driving forward and turning while firing, this spins the enemy around and usually they react by trying to get away (which isn't possible).*  Few bother to turn their turret and shoot back.

*  Obvs this tactic doesn't work too well on Mammoths and Titans. :P

To be honest, I like the Heavy Plasmagun Alteration. It does more damage and the projectiles are fast enough for me. And it's fun when you get killed but the last few shots in mid-air manage to kill the enemy (similar to Firebird's Afterburn)

Btw, I'm not playing in MM Battles where things might be a little different

Try plasmaguns in MM, you are going to be surprised in a bad way, to make it more "enjoyable" play on phone :].

What exactly was your reason for buying the alteration? What motivated you to buy the alteration?

I am wasp lover, i was dreamin about twins and wasp duo, to make twins more effective i bought plasmaguns, but after i did that and tryed that in MM... Big disappointment, youre rolling faster with your wasp than plasma balls do, +huge self damage and like we all know druggers, who instantly repairs themself and take you out with no worry.

Now my goal is to buy stabilized plasma and i am working on that.

It's weird, but its in MM DMs where I find plasmagun most effective.

Not only is your target(s) usually busy fighting someone else, but you can chuck enough shots to get him and whoever he's fighting.

I think at your rank Twins's shots are weaker than my M4 ones so of course plasmagun won't be quite as effective.

H_A_T_T_6 was using M3 Twins + Dictator and pooped on everyone on my team in two battles.

He was using Stable Plasma, so I'm wondering how well he would have done if he were using Stock Twins.

They could start by lowering the impact.  A LOT.  Does not need impact with the DPM it has...

i dont use twins much till latley, its m4 but still lacks the punch i was thinking it would. IMO i think it needs a buff, nothing has been done with twins that i can recall.

let me rephrase it,twins is op if you use the big gun alt but the range is so bad...

I find it very effective on smaller maps, especially with a heavy hull.
