You forgot to add me to that list with Viking and Smoky

I'm not talking about specific players, I'm talking about general combinations.  Viking and smoky generally isn't the best for defense, as a mammoth-smoky could do everything viking/smoky could do and more.  However, Vulcan is plain better than smoky in defense as you can subject attackers to a withering fire as they approach.

with an isida to keep the vulcan from overheating and from taking general damage from being shot. But eh. I do my defending AT the enemy base xD

I go in, nobody sees me, I wreck them from behind, take the flag and leave a mine behind me. them freeze users can suck on that while I make an epic get away

What map is this? Because it's pretty much impossible to take a flag in Noise without being seen. :D

Being a freeze user, I encounter mines all the time. By now a mine is practically useless on me, I have learned to avoid them so well. For example, when I am chasing down the flag carrier, I make sure to choose the fastest route to intercept him, or if he has a slower hull I follow him without tracing his exact tracks, thus avoiding risk of mine contact.

Wreck them from behind?  What kind of defense does that team have? :D

I play CTF on Brest mostly. Easy to sneak around on that map.

Does somebody know, if the new shielding aspect of the Freeze/Fire splash takes the height into account? There come two scenarios into my mind:

1) Two tanks are stacked on one another (i.e. for a GB catch). The upper tank is smaller than the lower and in the mid of the lower tank. A Freeze/Fire approaches them and attacks. Will the upper tank get hit by the fire?

2) A freeze/fire approaches two tanks. The one directly in front of the freeze is a Wiking crossways and behind him is a Dictator. Will the Dictator get hit?

I would assume that, that in 1) he will get hit and in 2) not. What would you think?

That came into my mind too, and I think it will hit both tanks in both scenarios.

The Freeze and Fire cone is 20degrees horizonally - but is is also 20 degrees vertically.

On sandbox you can be at the lower level and harm enemys at the above level.

The problem is, that you need to have a certain distance.. as the cone opens up with distance.

Ah alright, thank you! So in a small map a Dictator+Freeze/Fire combo might be a better option in order to spray above other tanks? Well ok we have to consider that circling tanks may be better with freeze and Dict is worse for this than lighter tanks...

freeze with wasp is OP. if you can get close you just spin around avoiding the enemy's gun that was they cannot even touch you.

At lower ranks, yes, it's OP because the turrets and hulls spin slowly, and also, most players don't even spin their turret and hull at the same time.  At higher ranks (m3s-m4s)  the freezing effect isn't that powerful at all.

Easiest way to stop a freeze is to use DA, leave a mine and drive forward a little so as the circle you, they go BOOM

Do you maybe have as well a tactical advise to this without the use of supplies?

Why U asking a WO5 with M1 equipment?

Here is my advice. If you know there is a freeze on the map, use your PageUp/PageDown keys to change to an aerial view, top down. That way you can see them when they try and sneak up behind you. Freezes will watch which direction your turret is pointed and assume you are using a low camera angle. They will try and slip in when they think you aren't looking. Do not let them close range. When they make their move, turn both your hull AND your turret to minimize the Freeze effect. Maneuver your tank so that you are against a wall or better yet completely blocking the passage - you do not want them circling around you. Finally, brick your spacebar. If they think they have the surprise they will be less prepared to respond and evade when it turns out that you are in fact the attacker.

Because I was curious what he says. If you read his posts you for sure have the impression too, that he must be a truely awesome tanker.

You tactic is nice; I like the part of tricking them into an attack, instead of beeing caught unprepared :)

As I play Wasp/Rail most of the time, I use my camera a lot and it is pretty rare that a Freeze catches me unprepared.. so I usually give them a shot while they are incoming from a forward-def-position. Then I retreat one stage back. Once they come closer I can finish them off.

Sometimes they still manage to sneak up (like if I was focused on strugling with two other attackers that just got killed by my team and me; and so the freeze could sneak up). Then I do turn hull and turret in order to place one shot.. but then I can practically stop fighting back. My reload is longer then the time he needs to kill me, as my M3 wasp is weak.

edit: especially now as they made is slower and less agile, and the Mediums on Nitro are as fast as a Wasp -.-

If I play attack and I am part of an attack party, I just let the medium hulls go in first while I support their kills from an attack support sniping position close their base. The freeze will go in at them; and when he is busy I can get the flag and run. The frezee is one-shot for my by then, so it's not that hard.

So overall the most valuable part for me as wasp is to know where the frezee is, without having him know where I am :)

If he catches me, I can place only one railshot and the I am done.

Well. I will be getting Railgun protection as soon as I unlock the m3 module...they are so annoying these days.

Not knowing what you talk about

No, without kidding: It will truely help you.

Beeing 3shot is a very usefull thing vs rails.. it usually means the difference between live or death -> for the rail -.-

While I can stand my ground vs most 2shot enemies more or less, I have real struggles vs. 3shot targets. Live was easier as railgunner when Vikings were 2shot too, and the reload was slightly longer. Therefore my Wasp faster in order to survive during the reload.

btw: gratulations on your rankup ;)

Even 10% protection will help you big time. hornet m1 and rail m1 on double armor almost always lose to me and i dont need a single supply to kill them. Even m2 rail on DD can't kill me in one shot xD
