I am wondering a bit about what Hazel said in the livestream. He said, that Firebird is underperforming and that Freeze is even weaker than the (unaltered) Firebird. I would estimate that Freeze is doing quite well compared to it. Of course it does a bit less damage, but you have to consider that the freeze effect is a lot more useful than the afterburn of the normal Firebird imho. What do you guys think about this?

Uh, nothing is weaker than the unaltered firebird.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say freeze is better when supplies are turned on and firebird is better when supplies are turned off. The afterburn is invaluable when you burn multiple enemy tanks and they can't use a repair kit. In supply battles you can use freeze to circle enemies and the larger tank means you can keep doing it even if they repair.

I agree. I don't think Freeze needs a buff, and this is coming from a Freeze user. I think only the stock Firebird needs a buff, and then introduce another negative to the alteration to cancel the buff to the stock.

However, if Freeze IS buffed, just play larger maps. ;)

Edit: I do think Freeze needs a buff at M3-M4 and a nerf at M0-M1. Against light-medium hulls, not even taking RK into account, the M3 freeze does not slow them down enough.

Anyway, what I wanted to say was that it's always annoying to fight another Freeze in DM. If you approach them head-on, whoever has more hp and damage will win. Sometimes they'll try to circle around you and that only works if they have extremely good momentum and you are turning from the other direction. Of course you can always try to get them from the side or back and then you'll win for sure.

Freezes usually try to avoid each other in DM, and sometimes, if there is a large drugger, they'll team on him (circle around from opposite sides) without speaking a word to each other. Only after the drugger is dead will they either turn away, or one will go for the other that has lost the most hp.

This morning I was playing a Fort Knox DM and there was a Dico-Rail drugger.  Although I finished first by one more kill at the last second, he had much less deaths. But the thing is, halfway through, he asked to team. It was acceptable to me and I realized how effective our team could be:

1. If enemies were approaching him, I would slow them down and attack from behind, so he could comfortably back out of range and shoot them with DD shot.

2. If I was in too much trouble, one swift shot would dispatch my attacker.

For those of you who hate teaming in DM (me included) it was more like a mutual acknowledgement that it was easier to go for other enemies. We rarely saw each other.  Add to that the fact that he was responsible for most of my deaths and vice versa.

Freeze is pretty powerful in DM, you just have to remember NEVER to attack an enemy head-on, when he is facing you, if he is farther than your range.

Freeze has got a bit more bite again.

I will confirm this. I don't play with it, but since the last update they are kicking my tail. Now I hate to see one locked on (as well as the new improved isida). Fun, fun, fun! :)

I used to think alterations for freeze aren't really that important, but this guy was using the corosiv mix alteration and made me actually consider getting it or maybe the other one. What do you think about the alterations? Has anyone tried them?

I think the 100k alteration is meant for those people who take titan + freeze and hide in polygon tunnel or who play in arena / island with heavy hull.

Freezing effect is not of much use as they can't circle around the enemy, because of slow speed.

For medium / light hull, I don't think that alteration is any good.

So if you were twins and you find freeze in battle, what do you do?

And the best way to handle it is if you have the stable plasma alt and he's right next to a wall, would be to activate speed boost and ram his side into the wall, that way he's stuck there, and even if he freezes you, he won't be able to move because you got him stuck between a rock and a hard place, which means, unless he has a heavier hull than you do, he's got no chance of killing you in that skirmish

Ok so I had used a Freeze Hornet for this match(and I had to drug too). And eh, the freeze effect kinda worked. Nonetheless, I enjoyed this battle pretty much ;)

And yes, I saw quite a few Freezes in this battle when I joined. Idrk how this weapon became a bit common...but I just decided to switch and use it w/ Hornet.  :P

I love using a camouflage paint and sneaking up behind people. If you can manage this, most of the time you can get away with killing your target without taking any damage in return :P

Hello fellow Freeze players!  Over the last few years, I've seen Freeze's popularity drop, with players saying it has been getting weaker and less viable to use.  Despite this, Freeze is evidently not dead, but I wish to clarify: what are the exact circumstances that are making the Freeze less popular?

I ask this because I somewhat dig Freeze's specialty in slowing other tanks and their turrets to a crawl.

^It's because Firebird and Isida are simply better options in terms of DPs. The Freeze effect isn't even that significant especially up here in my ranks since all the turrets turn very quickly anyway.

Don't get me wrong, Freeze is still a very capable turret at the right hands, but many people just prefer more Damage.

Just got freeze M2 50% off, and I have M1 hulls...

What to use?

Depends on your preferences really.  You can use Wasp or Hornet with Freeze for quick, ice-breathing gameplay all over the map. Of course, these hulls aren't the toughest, but these hulls' agility will give you the best chance to escape from danger as well as quickly hunt down targets.

If you prefer versatile gameplay, and want a sturdy hull that is a bit fast, you can go for Viking or Hunter.

Finally, if you want the most HP and want to dominate close-range fights, go for Mammoth or Titan. Keep in mind, though, that these hulls are the slowest, and with Freeze's short range, your tank will have some trouble in large maps full of longer-ranged turrets like Rail.
