Viking is faster than Hunter on all modifications.

You are correct - but - the difference at m1 is pretty insignificant.

Meanwhile Hunter's acceleration at m1 is fairly significant over Vikings at m1.

Hunter m2 also unlocks 2 ranks earlier than Viking m2.  That gives Hunter better speed right off the bat.

Went to a couple DM battles on my main account and found out that more people are flocking to hunter, if they were Viking users, they'll realize how much more stable hunter is.

Still salty about the spec switch. Viking's been my favorite hull for years, loved the looks and stability. I finally got it to M2 10/10, and then BOOM! It's the ragdoll hull! :(

Anywho, I came here to mention that Hunter's overdrive is really powerful when gold hunting. The first time I saw a hunter do it I thought it was really cool, and told him so. The second time it was kind of annoying. I dread the third time, not sure if there's any point trying to use Viking :P

EDIT: Third time, not fourth. Apparently I can't count.

I come here to report that m2.9 hunter performs better than m3.7 Viking because of that massive weight advantage.

Hell I've been stunning people left and right because it recharges so fast and it has quite a reach. The people who say that hunters OD is "weak" just aren't using it right. In battles, my KD averages to about 1.5 to 2.0 every time I use my hunter.

Vikings OD takes so long to recharge and it only lasts 7 seconds, barely enough time to find enemies and kill them, let alone make a sufficient impact of the battle. In battles, my KD averages to a miserable 1.0 to 1.3 every time I use Viking.

Then you are using it wrong... ;)      (get enough kills and your recharge gets a huge boost)

Is this the account that bought a kit?

What turret are you using with the Hunter?

No it does not, maybe you require weight but most players are doing just fine with Viking

Thunder, but does it really matter? I bet it'll do well with any turret, assuming that the player knows how to use it.

The EMP is a defensive OD, and I've been treating it as such. When I feel as though I can't beat someone head on, I just activate this OD and BAM, that enemy loses all the advantage and I have all of it. Also helps me gain some distance between an overdrive mammoth and myself.

I mean I've failed a few times with it, but who hasn't, besides it has one of the fastest recharge rates that there is room for error there.

No it does not

Where's the proof?

It matters.  For instance - Hunter OD + Vulcan is almost useless.  The ridiculous spin-up time means the target is almost un-stunned by the time the first bullets start to fly.  But paired with my freeze - huge difference.  Night-and-Day.

And if that's your m3+ Thunder, then you'd have those k/d ratios regardless of OD, or not.  I suspect your k/d would actually be higher without the ODs because Titan and mammoth would not have a time of invulnerability.

I was gonna say that you could just spin up before you activate the OD, until I tried and forgot how hard it is to make turns while you're shooting, I guess this can be an exception, but then again, Vulcan is strictly a heavy hull turret.

Honestly I don't think freeze needs hunters stun because it can render the enemy defenseless, itself. However that supply deactivation makes its task a bit easier.

The developers would beg to differ.

developers don't know ... squat.

Sure you could use it with a wasp.  I bet 9/10 kills come from the bomb.

It's serviceable with hornet but - as a light hull it's not so great at standing there to fight.  And vulcan is brutal to aim while on the move.

Hunter - discussed above - basically worst combo.

Probably ok on Dictator - decent weight and getting the free boosts will help killing power.

Viking... I hear the OD is a failure on turrets like Vulcan.

Titan and mammoth - excellent.

I was thinking of buying Hornet so that I could use its Overdrive to my Vulcan's advantage but I know that my aim will be everywhere but the enemy if a Twins, Ricochet, Hammer or Smoky is shooting me. It wouldn't be worth it for the lack of stability. And Vulcan's decreased gyroscopic ability makes it harder to keep aim.

I have bought both M1 Hunter and Dictator during the sale to go with Vulcan. I was stringing my brain trying to choose between them but I decided to buy both so I can either utilise Hunter's Overdrive to cap flags and more mobility than Mammoth or utilise Dictator's higher % charge of Overdrive per kill and more mobility. I decided to buy both since I had the crystals. If I stun many medium hulls, I'm goign to take down one of them before the others become unfrozen and deal with me. I also chose Dictator as I like to help my teammates out even if I'm not using Isida.

I try Vulcan with Viking's Overdrive once in a while and I don't like it. It's definitely less efficient than the other turrets sans the melee turrets (because of the range difference). And even then when it's doing good damage, there is this thing here you'd have to stop firing and then activate the Overdrive since it doesn't actually reload your energy bar when you activate it while you're shooting it. If you do it close to the end of your energy gauge, you'd see that you'd be doing the 75% less damage when the rest of the "refilled energy" depletes without you noticing. When the enemies have protection, you can spend your entire Overdrive trying to kill that one player. They're moving and they sometimes move perpendicular to you. And given Vulcan's rotation mechanic, it's not well for that.

Spent 5 seconds of my overdrive trying to take down an enemy Viking about 100m away and then it took me about 1.5 seconds to find the next player and I only unleashed 0.5 seconds of my Overdrive onto the other player and had to finish them off using almost all of my energy. I don't see why anyone would use Vulcan with Viking when other turrets are way more efficient.

Titan and mammoth - excellent.

Yes.

Hunter's Overdrive is not consistent and plain bad, the stun from Hunter's OD is too short, its charge delay like Railgun kills it, and its range CHANGES! It should be able to go through walls and just be more consistant

A hunter that has activated its OD near its enemies practically win the encounter, remember it can also put their supplies on cool down, which make the enemy vulnerable.

Unless a random enemy Large Calibre Rounds or Round Destabilisation Railgun one-shots you before you could touch the enemies after they were stunned. Happened to me too many times to not factor that out.

Im glad. I hate the viking spam that MM battles used to be. Now if we would only see some more dictators...

7 seconds of killing 3 tanks isn't worth being ragdolled the whole battle.
