Well I picked Hornet ever since the beginning of my Tanki career (which was before the current OD was implemented) because of its functionality (its speed and the weight) and its appearance. It looks elegant to me. But you are right, the nerfing of this OD is need and it is long overdue.

Also, even if Tanki has one single employee, it is safe to say that it is still a failure in terms of balancing Hornet. Considering, overdrives have been released for a year and the devs somehow failed to comment out some of the code? 

Also, we both know XP means nothing in TO. The more XP, the more suffering since your amount of crystals cannot keep up.

Crisis is not OP especially in noob hands, when it comes to Hornet any defences are ignored (P2W features silenced by F2P feature, so ironic). The only interest of Crisis is its speed (which still does not matter to a good Hornet player).

Xp might mean nothing to you but this is still data you can get, we/I can't get that amount of score data directly. But Xp is an indicator of battles activities and follow the score point trend activities. So the more Xp you get per hour the more powerful/skilled the player is, which means a Hunter player can be as performant as a Hornet player. The thing is that: if both hulls are ball parks, and one is considered OP, then the second is too. I can't only rely on your strong feelings based on your small poole of battles. Attacking me on my age will not give you any consolation. ?

Hornet overdrive will not affect your OD so that is good for you, however Hunter can remove Ares's overdrive (making it a more powerful hull). Regarding likelihood heavy versus light, i am not sure to see which concern. Some feature look at the position of the center of the tank, in that case the size do not play a role (e.g. Dome protection). Others look at the hitbox of the hull (e.g. Gold box).

One particularity of Hornet is to ignore protection module, so player who invested a lot in Protection module are at greater loss against Hornet OD compared to those people who did not. If the Hornet use a turret that you can not defend against it does not matter to you, if you had a protection module against that turret then you can feel the difference. Of course it is not as bad as having your 90% protection removed.
I also simply pick the 3 protections module which I believe the corresponding turret threaten me the most it is just i have more option to choose from and therefore a greater defense (except when enemies' Hornet is activated) it is not as good as having 90% protection from the titan's dome, but thankfully I can borrow it from an ally and make sure to kill any Hornet that come to break that cover.

It is great to see two people have a civil conversation while disagreeing! Wish more folks could operate that way!!! IT would make the world a better place!!!

For the record I do think the Hornet OD needs a nerf...not a removal. I also recognize I have the freedom to choose to exploit it since I have a maxed out hornet and broad enough garage (Vulcan, Shaft, FB, etc.) to mount a great turret.

All that being said I'd love to see the duration of the OD shortened or the recharge lengthened. It does seem out of balance at the moment.

I have started exiting MM battles when I am dropped into a hot mess of OD hornets raging in the base. No need to even try to play in the match...drop out immediately and enjoy playing a battle from the beginning.

Understand completely, i go up against them as a rule no more than 2/3 ranks higher than me,i'm a general. I really only play 1 combo so i am quite proficient at using it, and the reason for 1 combo, far too expensive to concentrate on any more than that. It also has the added bonus that i can upgrade this combo quicker than normal as i do not use the cry on any other turret are hull. I'm strong enough and good enough to take these noobs on, and if the team i'm in is a decent team i let them take care of getting flags and i destroy any hornet player i come across. I dont no what rank you are but i do no that at legend rank hornets are a major problem. Even at legend rank i do ok against them but that deff depends on the team around you, your in a bad team you are in for a very hard battle, usually getting well beat and feeling a tad angry that the tanki gods have put you in with a bunch of noobs.

I'm at Legend 5...took off a long time once I hit legend a few years back. Came back during quarantine...still enjoy playing, but was certainly shocked by the wide disparity between the hornet OD and the others. You are much smarter than I am by the way. I have always enjoyed using a variety of hulls and turrets...never thought about how that would make me usually weaker at the same rank on equipment as other players...not to mention the learning curve on certain turrets. I have settled in to a few turrets and hull combos that I think I can play fairly well with. But I respect your commitment to the simplicity and efficiency of maxing out one combo. I should have done that:)

It works for me because i'm not bothered about variety in combos, not anymore. I upgrade my protections according to what i face most in battle,and at the same time by what gives me the hardest time. 1 Turret 1 hull and the 5 protections i use most in battle are what i concentrate on at the beginning of a new account. I also pick a drone that i want and upgrade that usually before i have even acquired MK6 of anything. By upgrade i mean maxed out. Of the other protections, i upgrade as much as i can when there are any sales.

I have not used cos666 for over 3/4 years now, 2 active accounts, main.....G-92......noob account......IMPULSE-WARRIOR (GENERAL) ......noobish account....FLIPSTIKS  (FIELD MARSHAL.) <<< not using this now until idiotic xp boost is over.

There were way too many Hornets tonight. Had a battle where 6 players on the enemy team had Hornet, 3 of them had max Defender. It wasn't enjoyable. I spawn, look around me, and all I see is Hornets on both my team and the enemy team. 

 

It's worse when these Hornets are in organised group that know what they're doing.

When a equipment is being overwhelmingly used, it only means one thing, it is way too good, way too effective, which most players will simply choose it without even considering the pros and cons. And in a "competitive" (kind of) PVP game, this is call OP.

 

This happened to Vulcan before when it deals 50 damage per projectile, so the devs nerfed it to 44 which is reasonable. Yet, when the same thing applies to Hornet, it all the sudden becomes "balance" and "normal".

So I started a new account tonight....you inspired me. Did you do any microupgrades at all? Also at the low ranks what turrets and hulls excel for value? I am smoky/hunter and haven't bought anything. Quite slow playing at those ranks?

Dictator is the best for low ranks because of overdrive. Paired with fast killing turrets like vulcan for maximizing the overdrive.

It would take me ages to explain in detail how i played TO when i made my final account IMPULSE-WARRIOR,and how i took my time to make sure that at the correct rank my combo was nigh on maxed out to be able to compete with the higher ranks i knew i was gonna go up against. When i made my final account IMPULSE-WARRIOR there was none of this overdrive nonsense and no hull alts either. i-w was shelved for ages and i only started using it again because of the MK conversion which gave me a better garage than i had before the change. TREE is right dictator is good at very low ranks.

IMPULSE is well over 2 years old by way. Get rail asap it's the best killer out there at the low ranks depending on the mk u have of course and the upgrade level. 1 Last important point. You gotta take into account how quick you rank at the lower levels, and work out if it's worth maxing anything out protections included. Lots to consider to maximise your cry and any cash you might spend, all depends how serious you want to be with your new account.   

Drones are important to, my best advice on this, don't get any until you can unlock defender and until then save any batteries you can for that drone only.

It is completely balanced.

Well then, the in-game HexA clan will be created as planned. Let fury spread until the damn Hornet is fixed (yes, fix, not nerf, since it is completely broken).

Don't need fury.......just me ? I really hope your clan when full is truly dedicated to hornet busting. Smash those noobs to scrap.

I have a question.

How many balance changes have affected Hornet's OD since it has been released (which is over a year).

It went through 2 changes. 

 

The first change was disabling the ability to manually gain Overdrive charge during the first 10 seconds (out of 30) of the Overdrive. 

 

The second change was removing the aforementioned penalty and decreasing the Overdrive duration from 30 seconds to 20 seconds, making it what it is today. This changed happened on 24th May, 2019. It has not received a change since then.

My main gripe is that now everyone can see where you are practically all the time. Pretty pointless playing a sneaky game with Wasp/Smokey when everyone knows where you are. Might as well equip the animated paint and go Mammoth/Thunder like everyone else!
