It was a nice issue overall but I felt it was lacking a bit from Viking's story and the same goes to hithere's guide; it's their first time so I completely understand why; I hope though in a few months, they'll get into the gist of reporting.

A good issue overall, but I have a number of grievances to list before I compliment the good bits.

 

Hithere's guide... is acceptable. The errors with it... aren't. Two fundamental mistakes here.

 

1. Articles should not be published before proper proofreading.

2. Articles shouldn't have been randomly lifted from applications.

 

For example, bdeck's article is excellent, but I suspect it has been taken from his application, as it seemed... out of place, irrelevant to the Tanki newspaper.

 

I think someone thought that the new reporters should each have an article done for this issue. Which is fundamentally wrong, since articles should only be published if they are ready, and if they are relevant.

 

I didn't expect this to happen at all, it's appalling to a few articles have been rushed/not checked properly for relevance or grammar, just so they could be published on time.

All the articles written by the new guys was what they wrote or sent to apply. The only exception was Archangel, who's app article was out of date by now, so he did another one.

I don't know about anyone else, but I found this statement a disgrace. How dare you, the newspaper team lie to us in such a blatantly stupid way? Of course you did not find this newspaper in your attic. This is a virtual image, consisting of a few .png files! You definitely did not just "find it in your attic". That's not to mention that it just so happens to be predicting the future with the new reporters, articles and so forth. Your statement is so ridiculously untrue, it's disgraceful and disappointing from what I thought was a high quality organisation. Really disappointed in you, newspaper team, for peddling such blatant untruths.

To explain, which I honestly don't feel the need to, but most of you should not be judgemental and quick to put down without complete knowledge of the situation. I also want to express a sincere thanks to those of you who have been a part of the newspaper for your loyalty in this matter. To see you support the newspaper and your former colleagues is outstanding. A most gracious and heartfelt thank you.

 

The new reporters articles were published as they were submitted to me for their application. (If you think these were "poor" think of how bad the others were, including possibly yours.) This decision was mine alone. I take full responsibility for it. I wanted, and at the time thought it was a good idea, to show what helped these particular individuals, and nine others, did that moved them on to the next stage of the process. the decision was not made in a rush or because of a rush. I made it because I wanted to do it that way. Again, I always think it is best to know the whole story, get all the facts, before I make assumptions and look foolish doing so. But that is just me.

 

And again, thanks to the former reporters, who I felt had respect for me and the newspaper, for your overwhelming and incredible loyalty and support.

 

So, if my decision was a bad one, I stand beside it because it was my decision. We are all wrong sometimes. To quote GoldRock "deal with it."

Why do you guys keep writing articles?

... Already the 4th day and most of the articles have less than 100 views. Many of the contests have more views than the stories which I find funny.

Tbh, I don't read the stories cuz it's too long and boring.
