[Issue 21] Romantic Poetry Contest

Recommended Posts

With over 25 pages of entries, the Romantic Poetry Contest was one of our most popular contests ever! So popular, in fact, that we decided to double the original prizes! It was a thrill to read all the entries, and while it certainly took a lot of time and deliberation, the reporter team has decided on the best poems based on the criteria - rhythm and rhyme, vocabulary, humour, and originality (unfortunately there were several disqualifications for plagiarism).

The winner of the Romantic Poetry Contest and 50,000 crystals, congratulations to:

@GoldRock

The winning poem:

A reflection in a misty window,

Of an elusive glance, a fleeting search,
A volatile moment held in limbo,
With nothing but emotional worth,

A whisper, hidden amongst a chime,
Of feminine laughter, high and sweet,
Could plant a seed which over time,
Grows into something less discreet,

A small smile on a face disguised,
Of inner emotions, churning with doubt,
Reveals a feeling realised,
As one which can't be lived without,

Whether fleeting or pure or covertly demure,
It comes and goes, yet is always here,
Is life about love and nothing more,
Or is love within life not so clear?

In 2nd place, recipient of 40,000 crystals:

Second placed poem:

My heart once was captured
By a love so pure.
It was enveloped and nurtured
It had found its cure.

Moments of joy, moments of sorrow
Life had brought my way.
What awaits me for tomorrow?
Have I for my mistakes pay?

As time drifted by
The reason for it I've learned.
Was this a goodbye?
My heart for the answer
Deeply earned.

As I bid farewell
To the one I loved dearly,
Tears filled my heart's well
And I understood clearly.

Even though we're apart
And miles separates us,
The bridge from hers to my heart
Will someday again
Unite us.

In 3rd place, recipient of 30,000 crystals:

Third placed poem:

My love for you is eternal,
No matter how daunting the fight,
No matter how many must die,
I will persevere, without flight.

My love for you is soothing,
When frozen, I warm you to life,
When burning, I relieve the pain,
When hurt, I take away your strife.

My love for you is strong,
It can take constant, merciless fire,
It can resist even the toughest blows,
And it will never cease to tire.

My love for you is resilient,
It stands firm against attrition,
It stands proud against pessimism,
It stands victorious over competition.

I need no protection or camouflage,
To guard my love for you.
Against infernos, needles, tigers, or gods,
It will stand ever firm for you.

I need no drug to save my heart,
From falling, love struck, for you.
If even it was just half as much,
I hope you love me too.

No matter how long the struggle,
My spirit will never fade.
Against mammoths, hunters and even titans,
They will all fall at my blade.

No matter how many stand against me,
No matter how many block my way,
I prepare myself to fight for you,
One golden touch, to make my day.

It was difficult to determine just three winners, so several other worthy entries will receive 10,000 crystals.

ClausFloride

emoNinja

DoomLOVER12

XtremeXecution

Guestguestguest

And for his humorous entry:

OMG how the heck did PERFECTION win anything? That wasn't even a poem, and it wasn't that funny other than the last line...

Considering it had about 50 upvotes, and I find it pretty amusing myself, I actually appreciate the judges decision to offer him a 'worthy of note' prize. Just goes to show that a sense of humour can also lead to success ^_^

There were so many poems. Congratulations to the winners...A lot of deep unexpected emotions, went into their work... :)

As for the Judges? If I see any of you on the battlefield, I'l make an exceptional effort to thank you in my own special way, for not choosing my poem for at least last place...

P.S.

Just kidding, guy's...I know it must have been difficult to go through all the many poems. Not an easy task..."Kudos".

Your senses deceive you, I suggest you fire them. Also, its 'a', not 'an' :P

*insert praising message about Lham and his minion here* ~ Edited by le hamster on 3rd March.

Seems legit ;) But anyway...

*fires senses*

And 3vil is really just the same as plain ol' evil. Therefore, an an is more justified than an a (OK, too many ans and as now... xD).

I edited to add the poems, the note was already there :P

3vil is pronounced threevil, so as its a 'th' sound, you use an 'a'. :P

Why is it people think that getting rewarded for participating is the norm? That happened one time, in the Mister/Miss Tanki Online contest.
