Why should I buy a Mac?

In this guide, I will be listing out all the reasons on why to get a Mac.

Let's check out the parts of  a Mac first.

Logic Board (Motherboard): This component of your Mac is connected to all other components inside of your Mac.

CPU (Central Processing Unit): This component of your Mac is soldered on the logic board. This component is the main source of speed in your Mac. Some of the CPU's names for Macs are: Intel Core i5, Intel Core i7 (Based on current year 2014)

RAM (Random Access Memory): This component of your Mac is also most likely soldered on the logic board. This component is extra space for your Mac when it is running slow. The more RAM you have, the faster your Mac will be.

GPU (Graphics Processing Unit): This component of your Mac is most likely integrated with the CPU. What that means is the graphics card will most likely be sourced from the CPU. This component has part of the responsibility of how fast games and videos run.

HDD/FD/PCI (Hard Drive, Fusion Drive, PCI Based Flash Storage): This component of your Mac is where all the files get stored onto. A Hard Drive is a regular hard drive with moving parts usually running at 5400 RPM with Macs. You're probably wondering what a Fusion Drive is. This is Apple's version of the Solid State Hybrid Drive (SSHD). If you're still wondering, it is a combination between a regular Hard Drive and a Solid State Drive. It has all of the moving parts of a regular Hard Drive, but the speed of a Solid State Drive. Now, what is PCI based flash storage? It is a hard drive with absolutely no moving parts inside. You're probably thinking now it's a fancy name for an SSD, well no, it isn't. PCI Based Flash Storage is much faster than an ordinary SSD.

USB Ports: First of all, USB stands for Universal Serial Bus. These are those rectangular shaped ports on your computer. What this component in your Mac does is connect devices to the Mac. They are mainly used for a flash drive which is basically a hard drive, but in small form factor.

Thunderbolt: Yes we know thunder doesn't cause bolts but lightning can! But what is thunderbolt? Thunderbolt is a special port on all Macs* (Macs from 2007 and later*) With this port, you can connect to a display.

Wi-Fi: You have all heard of Wi-Fi. If you don't then two words, Wireless Internet.

Bluetooth: Bluetooth is a wireless connectivity option for some Macs* and other Bluetooth enabled products, like speakers and headphones.

Superdrive: Superdrive is not part of your Mac* (Current Models, earlier models may have one*) Superdrive is Apple's name for CD/DVD Drive. Apple does sell this product on their website for $79 USD. You can use this product to insert CDs to listen to music, insert DVDs to play movies.

Retina Display: Now, what is Retina Display? This is a display ONLY available on the 2013 Macbook Pro with Retina Display. More Macbooks with it are yet to come. This is a display that is much clearer than a regular screen. If you have an iPhone 4 or later, iPad 3rd generation or later, iPod Touch 4th Generation or later, these products have Retina Display. This means that from a normal viewing distance, no pixels can be seen with the human eye.

What kind of Macs do they have out there?

Macs are both in the form of desktop and laptop. They even make a touch-screen tablet called the iPad.

The current models of Macs they have now (2014) are:

Macbook Air

Macbook Pro

Macbook Pro with Retina Display

iMac

Mac Mini

Mac Pro

Let's get into each Mac a little deeper.

Macbook Air: This laptop is a very thin, lightweight computer with all of the power of a desktop in laptop form. This is their thinnest laptop. It features an Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of PCI Based Flash Storage.

Macbook Pro: This laptop is their older model of Macbook Pro. This is somewhat bulky and heavy, but it is majorly powerful. It features an Intel Core i5 Processor, 4 GB of RAM, and a 500 GB Hard Drive.

Macbook Pro with Retina Display: This laptop is the new and improved version of Macbook Pro. This is very light, and thin. but not as thin as the Macbook Air. It features an Intel Core i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of PCI Based Flash Storage. A very powerful machine.

iMac: This is Apple's all in one computer. This all in one iMac is very thin, and very powerful. It features an Intel Core i5 processor with 8 GB of RAM, a 1 TB Hard Drive (TB stands for Terabyte which is 1,000 GB). This is absolutely beautiful in person.

Mac Mini: This is Apple's small form factor desktop computer. It is very small, and very powerful. It features an Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB of RAM, and a 500 GB Hard Drive. This can get the work done.

Mac Pro: This is Apple's most powerful computer that they offer. You can do anything with this computer, literally, anything. It has a Intel Xeon Processor, 12 GB of RAM, Dual AMD Firepro Graphics Processors, and 256 GB of PCI Based Flash Storage. This one is really a great one.

Mac OS X and its Applications

Mac OS X is a UNIX Operating System for Macs. There are 5 main Mac OS X titles left. Mac OS X Leopard, Mac OS X, Snow Leopard, Mac OS X Lion, Mac OS X Mountain Lion, and Mac OS X Mavericks. The interface is different from Windows. Installed applications for Mac OS X are: iPhoto, iMovie, Garageband, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Maps, iBooks, Safari, Mail, Facetime, Messages, Calendar, Contacts, Reminders, Time Machine, Photo Booth, iTunes, Game Center, Preview, Notes, and Mac App Store.

This is one fantastic OS.

Why Should You Get a Mac?

There are many reasons why you should get a Mac.
All Macs (2014) are made out of aluminum which is durable and is meant to last.
All Macs are designed with precise engineering. This means that Macs are designed in a very unique way.
Macs use quality components in them. That's why they are priced high.
All Macs use the latest technology in them for a better Mac.
It's very unlikely for a Mac to develop problems.

For anyone that wants a Mac for Tanki, any current model will do the job. :)

Thanks for checking out my guide!

I know quite alot of computers, I could help maybe?

Something I found by myself.

If you have a slow computer, there is something you can do.

For Windows XP:

1.) Click Start

2.) Run

3.) In the "Run" box type in "%temp%" without the quotation marks and click ok or press Enter on your keyboard.

4.) You will get a new window

5.) In the window hit "Ctrl + A" from your keyboard at the same time

6.) Right click your mouse and click "Delete" on the menu that pops up

If you get a message just click ok and delete all the other files besides that one. Delete that one last.

Windows 7:

1.) Click Start

2.) In the search box type in "%temp%" without the quotation marks and press Enter on your keyboard.

3.) You will get a new window

4.) In the window hit "Ctrl + A" from your keyboard at the same time

5.) Right click your mouse and click "Delete" on the menu that pops up

If you get a message just click ok and delete all the other files besides that one. Delete that one last.

You might want to do this every 3 days to increase computer speed.

http://lifehacker.com/5840387/how-to-dual-boot-windows-7-and-windows-8-side-by-side

3- I can help with that, you can either uninstall windows 7 completely or use a recovery disk.

Here's using a recovery disk:

1.) Click Start, Control Panel, System Maintenance

2.) Click Backup and Restore

3.) in the left panel, click Create a system repair disk.

4.) follow the steps on screen

5.) if you get a message saying to enter a Windows 7 installation disk, do it.

Once you have the recovery disk, here's how to use it:

1.) Insert the recovery disk

2.) turn off you computer

3.) turn it on

4.) If prompted, press a key on your keyboard to continue.

5.) choose your language

6.) Select a recovery option and click next

Mich is staff, and posting a pic with a staff paint is allowed. No rules broken :)

There is no rule against having staff paints in a picture, as I am not claiming that this is a staff group nor am I attempting to instigate such a thing.

On a side note, I've been called "Mit" and "Mich" in the same day.....

Tnx micah7586 for a great guide.

In the "How To Run Tanki As A Separate Application"

It says, "After the first usage, a link will remain stored in the "File" menu."

Please can you add to the guide, or post in the topic, solutions to the problems  I now have, after having stored 15 - 20  server links in the  menu File:-

How can the position of a server link in the File menu list be changed - so links can be put  in server order ( 1 2 3 4 and so on ). Drag and drop does not work.

How can one unwanted,  incorrect or not working link, in the File menu,  be deleted or modified.

Tnx

Can have the position in the list rearranged / changed. Drag and drop does not work.

How an unwanted / incorrect / not working link can be deleted or modified.  Deleted links could then be replaced by good ones.

Tnx

Yes, when would you say a GTX 650 (1 GB) would become obsolete?

Probably 15 years. Not exactly sure though since technology is improving everyday and making stronger hardware.

Tnx :)

To change servers you can always just change the number after =c in the adress link for instance

changing to server 2 from server 1

server 1

tankionline.com/AlternativaLoader.swf?config=c1.tankionline.com/config.xml&resources=s.tankionline.com&lang=en&locale=en

change the part after config=c1 to config=c2

so you would browse and of course open an old link to change this and boom it works

note i took off the http so you could see what i was talking about
