any thoughts on the new isida alteration?

Sounds like good at killing light hulls (does not need as much energy) but....will be very challenging to kill protected (module + DA) or heavy hulls as Isida would run out of juice before target dead.

I don't see the need for this alt - negatives outweigh the positives.  How many light hulls you gonna have within striking distance at same time?

Question.

I have a fully upgraded M2 isida since a few months. Untill a few days/weeks ago the beam was orange in attack-mode, now it's red.

As far as I know I have no colour alteration.

Where does the change of colour come from ?

The available shot colours can be obtained by opening containers. It is under the Epic Category so it might be a bit rare. Since Isida has the least amount of shot colours compared the other 7 turrets, it might be even rarer to get one of isida's instead of another turret you may not want one for.

No such thing in my garage.

My Isida M2 with 10/10 MUs equals an M3. Could that be the reason ? Although I have been playing with it for months in this configuration and the beam used to be orange, not red.

Nope, has nothing to do with MUs, it’s because they made the beam colour of all isida modifications red. The update happened quite recently so maybe you didn’t notice...

If you want to find it in the garage, you click on isida, in the description area there are 3 boxes. The one furthest to the right has the colour shots. It should say standard settings for you. Standard settings for isida is a red beam, same as m3 usually is.

Hope that explains it

Thanks.

Pity though. Now you can't see the difference anymore between M0-M1-M2-...

Most paints allow you to see the metal parts on turrets without much difficulty. So if you look hard enough, you'll be able to tell what modification the turret is and know how to approach them when you encounter them again.

They want the standard settings to be uniform and boring so we buy more containers in the hope of getting special colors.

This turret is the least effective turret for me right now even though it is the most upgraded maybe its because I dont like sitting around healing and getting low DL from getting killed, when attacking freeze/firebird are better than Isida

I'm still not sure they give enough score for the amount of healing done but...Why do you care about D/L?

It means nothing - especially if you play modes other than DM/TDM.

It's irrelevant in many/most cases.

Players who cap flags often make multiple attempts to get the flag. Might die 4 times and get away once.

But that one escape will help team and score a lot points.  May also have 0K / 4D.  is that bad?  Not at all.

Isida spends ~ half the battle healing - so... it's gonna have 1/2 as many kills as other players.

At same time, smart players know that killing isida first is very important - so isida is #1 target and will be killed often.

Yet the Isida helps the team win by healing flag stealers, etc.

has anyone noticed that isidas are earning a lot less xp since the new alterations came out?   Seems there is hardly any xp earned for healing.   Is the game trying to removing healing from the game?   Eliminate isidas?

I agree.

3-4 months ago they nerfed the healing score.  Then apparently buffed it back up.  Now feels like the nerf again.

I agree that if you get a KD lower than 1, it makes you feel a little bad but to be honest it depends how you play isida and with what hull. When I play with M3 wasp on my higher ranking account, it’s pretty hard to maintain a KD of 1, but with hunter I manage 2-3 most of the time, although that’s probably because I don’t heal much, more of an attacking type.

I play with Isida most of the time (check my profile).

Having a low K/D comes with this turret for a number of reasons. Mainly because A you help others, B you will be the first to be killed because you help others and C making multiple kills (unlike other short range turrets like fire and freeze) is not possible. If a high K/D is important for you, just choose another turret.

On the other hand, in some battles where team-play is important (ctf, rugby, assault) some players do appreciate the support you give them and they realise you are imortant for the team.

Very often MM drops me in a battle with Generalissimo's and Legends . Thanks to my support (following carriers while having DA, sometimes even getting killed for them while healing) they sometimes make it to base and sometimes, as a sign of appreciation, they drop the flag or ball so I can cap instead of them. This is a way of saying thx, indicating they appreciate the support you give. After all ctf and rugby are team-efforts and it is the end-result that counts.

Strangly enough this only happens with higher ranks. When I play with teammates of my own rank or lower they hardly ever drop a flag or ball, even knowing they could have never made it without me.

Wisdom comes with experience ?

In the early clan-days I was rejected a few times because of my low K/D. Does this bother me ? No, not at all. I know that with my Isida I can really contribute to the victory of my team, regardless my K/D.

So:

if your ego (= K/D) is important to you, stay away from Isida and choose another turret.

if teamplay matters to you then go for it, your teammates will appreciate it

When Isida's self healing feature was removed it made the turret completely useless. There's absolutely no reason to use Isida in DM because it has nothing that makes it viable. Even its healing characteristic is no where near as useful as it once was with players getting repair kits for free each day through missions. There's not really anything that makes Isida a good turret anymore, which is a shame because back in 2013 it was the turret I was most excited to get, and grinding the 1,800 crystals for it was actually worthwhile.

It is still useful.

1) Has high DPS, so in DM can get kills against medium and light hulls fairly consistently - not as good on large maps vs smaller...

2) Team battles - great at helping to steal flags and/or healing flag defenders

3) Very useful in no-supply Pro-battles since there are no RKs.

4) If you split time between healing team-mates and killing tanks Isida can get a decent score. More crystals if you help your team win.

There's no reason to choose Isida over Freeze or Firebird. Isida's DPS doesn't compensate for how uninteresting it is now and how much Freeze and Firebird surpass it.

Not really...with fire and freeze, you wont start earning score until you find an enemy, with isida you can choose to either heal or attack. Also, being an isida player, i beat most firebirds and freeze in a head on fight so DPS still puts it on level with other short range turrets.  Freeze and fire really don't surpass as much as you think, I have often competed against them in DMs and never felt that they have that much of an advantage. In the right hands, it can be a killing machine. Removing self heal has definitely not made it useless

You don't beat Freeze or Firebird head on with an Isida. Freeze will slow and circle you, and Firebirds burn damage will further shove it in your face that Isida no longer has self healing.

It just sounds like Isida is not for you.

Just like rail is not for me, nor will I buy Magnum which does not belong in this game.

ATTENTION Isida players:

I'm mostly a Vulcan/Titan user, though I have Isida on another account. I'm here to give the Isida players a heads up. On my Vulcan I have the Incendiary Band alt, which means when I start to overheat my shells are also heating up the enemy tanks. I firmly appreciate Isidas, no doubt about it. Many Isida players are making a huge mistake. While I'm overheating and giving the enemy a good burn, the Isida is trying to heal me completely. Most Isidas run out of umph before I'm healed, which is a big waste. Those who manage to heal me, take away the burn effect on the enemy tanks.

When you come across a Vulcan that is hard to heal from the burn, don't waste your precious energy trying to completely heal them. Just give them enough "juice" to keep them alive...that's all.

Thank you, my dear Isida players. You are a valuable asset to any team. Keep up the good work.
