Gold box hunting is so hard! There's is a 1/30 chance that I will catch the gold lol, especially the gold rain ones. Post some gold catches and how did you do them. I hope I will improve.

Looks like it, seeing people drop gold boxes in battles so they can complete objectives more and more now

I think the reason it died is because 1000 crystals is nothing for a higher ranks - you can get easily over 1000 crystals if your team wins and you play well

We had a "battle collection" from which everyone was given crystals--the winning team got the bigger share.

Now everyone gets crystals based on the XP they get in the game and irrespective of which side wins--that sucks.

Unfortunately, yes. Ever since gold box became a supply, it was no longer exciting to catch gold boxes so the hype around it died. There are still black gold boxes (a.k.a containers) but they barely if ever drop and even when they do, you can't tell if it's a normal gold box or a black gold box until you actually see the box itself.

Definitely dead. Very rarely do I see people asking someone to drop as well.  I’ve got 500 currently gathering dust but you see some peoples screen shots and they have over 3k of them just sitting there

When I got a set of 5 gold boxes in an old container, I thought that I had received 5k crystals--only realized that I was dropping gold boxes when I saw that small notification on top left(It should be at least a little bigger). Luckily I caught my second last gold box, have only one remaining now--would probably drop it when I'm alone.

Each drone works differently, but you do not need to activate batteries manually, it happens automatically. The following pages might be helpful:

I have caught 3 gold boxes in 3 days--I don't think I got more than 5 gold boxes in my entire career of 10 months between 2014 and 2015.

Count that 4 gold boxes in 3 days. 

You can drop a Gold Box even in a private room.

 

Why don't ppl just drop gold boxes for themselves?? (maybe even record it)

5 gold boxes in 3 days--I just equaled my previous record of getting 5 in 10 months I guess.

I remember back when gold boxes dropped I would be shivering from excitement - and nervousness, my hands would be actually shaking and I could barely control my tank, my heart would be beating in my throat

Now I dont even notice if one is dropped, I dont even see the notification most of the time, and when I do my reaction at best is "cool now I can do the objective safely/get multikills easily", thats it. no more excitement or stress, sad to see this happen to an item that was once the only thing talked about in battles

Yeah, It's actually very simple, look here:

The ones which I have marked in the box (except private option in the 2nd image) are compulsory, and the rest can be enabled/disabled as per your wish ^^

I went into PRO battles and managed to work this out just before your post, but I wouldn't have known about it if it wasn't for you and At_Shin, so thanks for the top tip :P . I think I tried to achieve this before but I must have had "gold boxes" disabled, and so I assumed you can't drop golds in parkour, lol. So if I ever needed to drop golds I was wasting 5 seconds between each gold - adds up to a painful amount of time xD ! So much faster this way, cheers :) !
