Let's Discuss Micro-Upgrades!

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hello, after the somewhat recent micro upgrade update, micro upgrades have an accumulative cost of the item bought at full price. However, before the update, the costs to fully micro upgrade an object were twice the cost of the same item bought at full price. After the update, the level of upgrade of all the objects that were mued are equal to the upgrade level before the update. For example, before the update, I had upgraded my firebird m1 to 40/50. My current upgrade level is 8/10 which is equivalent to the original fraction. The extra crystals I spent to get the same upgrade level, were not refunded, so I paid almost twice as much as would be required after this update.

Hello,

I have this situation:

Firebird M2 9/10, and now i'm close to be rank to Marchal (Where I will be able to buy Firebird M3), my question is:

If I rank to Marchal now then complete the micro-upgrade to 10/10. Do I will buy M3 for free when the micro-upgrade is done?

Or I should wait until I fully upgrade Firebird M2 then rank to Marchal?

Thanks

I would get that last microupgrade going and then when you reach marshal it'll be free as soon as it finishes.

You can buy that one upgrade anytime, before Marshal, or after Marshal.

In both cases you will get m3 for free.

You have to finish mu 10/10 before you rank up to Marshal, to get the M3 for "free". If you finish the mu 10/10 after rank up, you will have to buy the M3. So you will waste a lot of crystals if you rank up too fast.

This is incorrect.

From MU string on WIKI:

"You can only get the next modification for free if you have not yet reached the unlock rank of the modification after it."

There is no modification after m3, so long as you have m2 by Marshall you can upgrade at any time.

Tanki Online's upgrading system is inferior to the upgrading system present in Tanki X.

Tanki X requires you to play and gain experience with the turret or hull you wish to upgrade. It requires you to invest time and effort into a turret or hull you enjoy and therefore it feels much more fun and satisfying. This kind of experience based upgrade system guarantees that even people who purchase the crystals needed to upgrade have still earned that upgrade.

In contrast, Tanki Online's upgrade system is highly flawed, impractical, and game breaking. Unlike the gradual increase in experience and crystal cost of upgrades in Tanki X; Tanki Online's upgrade system requires you to make the grind to a required rank and then amass an amount of crystals that increases immensely each time.

The Micro-upgrade system sounds like a good idea, but it breaks the game. It allows absolutely anybody to access a turret or hull tier that they haven't unlocked yet. There's nothing stopping a brand new player from purchasing a bunch of crystals and fully micro-upgrading a turret until it's statistically identical to its M1 variant. Taking advantage of this flaw, ANYBODY can ruin the game for other players by purchasing higher rank upgrades early (might I add for a crystal cost far higher than the actual cost to simply upgrade the weapon once you unlock it via rank). Needless to say, this grants players who pay real money an immense advantage from the start.

What worries me, if that was applied to this version of Tanki, is with the amount of nerfing going on.

Imagine investing time and money on a turret, only to find it nerfed.  And then being unable to move to another turret because there is a requirement for experience stopping you from buying a replacement.

Survival of the fittest am I right?

Well - they can only unlock 1 extra m-level.  You can't go beyond m1 10/10 until m2 is unlocked.

For some turrets not a huge deal, but for some like smoky m1-->m2 it is, because smoky m2 OP due to the late-unlock.

Store kits certainly are not helping... they unlock 2 ranks earlier than garage kits - which already unlock early.

What's to stop a player in Tanki-X from buying tons of blueprints at low level and then upgrading to full Tier-3 Modules?

M2 Firebird at a low level would be game breaking. The Tanki Online upgrading system sucks...

I am not really a fan for forums. But I was compelled to say one or two of my thoughts about a matter, which really surprised me.

First let's think of the meaning of "Upgrades"

Upgrade is to raise (something) to a higher standard, in particular improve (equipment or machinery) by adding or replacing components.

When I wanted to upgrade my drone, I saw there no improvement.

With other words, I have to pay for nothing. literally I have to pay for it. .for nothing I get

And have to wait 5 days so that my upgrade level will raise from 0 --> 0

Now lets see. I have to pay. I have to wait for 5 days. And I get no particular improve at all

Think of it like this; if three of the upgrades you bought don't increase the number of mines you place down, they buying those 3 upgrades is like buying the parts for the Saboteur Drone necessary for it to now deploy an extra mine.

And I'm assuming that you bought that drone because you saw its potential. You saw that it was powerful and possibly a game changer. You should have looked at the wiki to see the upgrade costs and what each upgrade step adds to the drone. This was a fault on your part. I don't like to hold people to standards often but you're a Marshal (and well into it), you should know that the Wiki exists seeing that you know the forum exists.

After this experience of yours, if you have any doubts on the upgrades of future equipment, I suggest going to Tanki's Wiki page.

^ wow didn't know that was a thing

That happens only for the Saboteur Drone.
