First I want to say that I couldn't be happier with my nick (although it is on the weird side). One of my friends, though, is a lowly staff sergeant. He obviously doesn't have 100k crystals waiting to be spent for a nickname change. He told me that he would quit Tanki if he couldn't change his nick, so for his sake I totally agree.

There can be a button in the game's settings: 'Change nickname'. By clicking on that, it will require us to enter our new nickname and type in 'CONFIRM' two times. First time for free. Upon changing your nickname for the first time, now it would require 100k to change. This idea could save the devs from more workload because currently, you change nick by sending them emails.

This question is way more complicated than you realize.

1. If the 1st nickname change was free, mods would be overloaded with requests, and then complaints about "WHAY IZ ME NICKNAME NOT CHANGED".

2. The nickname procedure doesn't work like they change the name of your account. In fact, they create a new account with the name you want, and the give all the equipment and crystals you have. (At least that's what I know)

3. There are currently around 1.400.000 registered Tanki accounts, it means 1.400.000 nicknames, all stored on the servers. If players could change name in the battle settings, imagine the following: 2 players decide to change name to "Mrs.Living.Legend". One confirms, and so does the other, 2 seconds later. The server couldn't update during such a short time, and then, we would have multiple number of players with the same name, and that would just mess up things.

 

So the better idea would be that the 1st nickname change is 60k, then 100k, 150k, etc, it should gradually grow with every single time you change nickname.

hi, i think there will be option for all tankers to rename their name once free of cost, because when we join the game at start we have no idea about game and choose general names, after sometime we feel to change it according to game or make name some stylish but we can't do it free of cost, its nice if admin allow us to do it once without any charges or cost.

Honestly, I think the chance of this being implemented is little to none. This would cause a huge flood to the already flooded tech support team and make them even more slow at responding to messages. As for people picking general nicknames for games, then that's really their fault, and not anyone else. Tanki is one of the few games that offer the possibility to change nicknames, be grateful for that :P

That's a very negative approach to ideas. Don't criticise an idea because a problem in the game will make the suggested feature bad. Instead, treat the idea as a thing on its own that doesn't get affected by the game's problems because eventually the problems will be solved and the idea might be added with no issues accompanied by it. I hope this makes sense :)

I agree with the idea and it would be really great if this was added, but unfortunately it's impossible with the way this game was made. If this was implemented now, Tanki's tech support would never be able to deal with the amount of incoming name change requests from thousands of players. So it may happen in Tanki X, or in distant future, but it just can't work right now.

 

Although there is an alternative solution. If you lose your account's name because someone else took it while you were inactive, you can send an email to help@tankionline.com and they will give you an option to change your nickname once for free. It's inconvenient because you have to wait for a long time depending on your rank and whether you bought crystals recently, but it's an option nonetheless if you are really desperate to get rid of your name for free.

 I too feel like everyone should get 1 free name change. To remedy the problem you mentioned Tanki's tech support could offer the free name change at different times for different ranks.Such as Generalissimo to General Week 1, Lt. General to major Week 2, etc.

Great idea! You should be able to change your name once for free. 100k is WAY too expensive, especially for lower ranks. Tanki is just greedy for money, that's why they made it 100k crystals to change your name. And no there won't be a flood because not everyone wants to change their name. I'm satisfied with my name and I'm not going to change it. And if people are saying that it's unfair for people who spent 100k crystals to change their name before tanki can just refund the crystals. But I doubt tanki will do this since they are so greedy for money

Reasons: 

1@ it will be unfair for the players who wasted 100000 crystals and changed nicknames

2@ everyone will change the nickname!! its very bad and it will be complicated for other players, friends and enemies

3@ it will be hard for the tanki programmers! they will receive millions of nickname changes!

 

i know 100k is little expensive. probably you could say make it cheap like 50k. Not for free  <_< 

1. Those players can just get a 100k crystal refund.

2. Not everyone will change their name, most players are happy with their current names.

Suuuuuure.... Greedy. That's the reason for the high cost and not the fact that lower price would cause a flood and prevent Help Desk from dealing with more important issues like account thefts. And yes, IT WILL cause a flood. People will do it because they can.
