Had fun with this turret today on my WO4.

Very good for everything besides capturing flags.

You can even use it pretty well on light hulls if you can keep your distance from enemies (which means, no flag capping...)

Vulcan's a great weapon for medium range combat, but I see a lot of people trying to use it as an assault weapon. That's not its intended purpose- if you want to attack enemies at close to medium range, stick to Smoky, Hammer, or Ricochet.

The Vulcan is an example of a gun with lots of potential with bad flaws that ruin it. My first complaint is the gyroscope. For us old boys used to just turning the hull and the gun with it, hate to break it to you, but YOU'RE BAD if you don't turn the turret close to all the time.it's inconvenient having to do Z and X when someone's circling you.  My second complaint is the overheating. I was using the Dictator, and the overheating killed me in about 10 seconds. That's an awfully long time =.= This is a shooter after all, not a chess gameSeriously, you need to reduce the overheating damage. A Wasp or Hornet with the Vulcan that is overheating will die in maybe, like, a millionth of a second (exaggeration: Beware!)? My last complaint is the warm up time. If this thing needs to warm up before firing, at least say so in the description. I bought this thinking, I can just open fire immediately and troll everyone. But no, it takes five seconds to warm up the gun before it actually fires. ...the release came with a full article explaining how it worked =.=, the article was on the home page a short time agoFive seconds still allows guns like the Isida or Ricochet to load damage on you, reducing you to half health before you even start firing. Other than that, the gun is nice

I like that you end it with "Other than that, the gun is nice". Doesn't compromise your entire statement or anything... :L

Always bring Firebird protection when using Vulcan. But upgrades increase the damage from overheating, so don't upgrade it untill you have the next Firebird main painting. Even with it, you'll die more often than enemies will kill you.

So, Do paints with Vulcan resistance reduce over-heating damage cause by a hot Vulcan? I have not thought about this or experimented with it. Although it should work, same  as with rico/anti-rico paints and thunder/anti-thunder paints against self-inflicted damage.

i don't think so, but that will be a good idea if not

Yes it is. Either that or anti-firebird paints might reduce over-heating damage caused by Vulcans. B)

Which is it?  or perhaps  both should/do  work. Oh Great Gods of Tanki .

P.S.- This is going to be a forum topic in the near future, if nothing is learned here.

Explain what is a gyroscope .-.

It is the design/ programming of Vulcan that allows it to lock on to a target/ area once the operator starts shooting at it. Sadly, most tankers thought it would lock onto the actual tank, thus this makes the Vulcan harder than the other turrets to use Never Mind its SUPER !!!!!!!! SLOW turning speed. Turning speed Will be the first thing I MU.

They actually said Firebird protection reduces over-heating damage when the turret first came out. Altough I don't know if it reduces the actual damage of it, or if it just reduces the time it takes for it to cooldown. I just bought Storm painting, and I didn't noticed any difference between this and the Marine paint...

And people say that Vulcan sucks.

When you look at statistics and player opinion, Vulcan may seem to be underpowered.

I decided this one time to give it the benefit of the doubt; was totally worth it

The killing power offsets its disadvantages. Think of it as trying to use a sledgehammer/drill, but being able to bulldoze lots of stuff as payoff.

On mammoth red team silence, it destroys blue defense once you get up the blue team's ramp on the far right, especially with teammate isidas.

I remember that now too. With that I would guess Vulcan paints do not affect heating damage caused by a mounted Vulcan.

This is the perfect weapon to use on open maps like Massacre. You can keep the entire enemy team pinned down and suppressed if you carefully manage the overheating.

The DPS isn't as strong as Ricochet's, but a lot of people forget that it's still pretty high- I managed to destroy a M2 Firebird-Hornet at close range with it and my Hunter. I died from afterburn later, but you really don't have to worry about overheating when you've been attacked by a Firebird, so you can fire at more enemies until you burn out.

I really like Vulcan too, although I don't care for the Massacre map that much, there are no walls to take cover so you always have to move around and you're vulnerable to shafts and railguns lined up at either end. I'll be able to get M1 in a few days and I was wondering if anyone has tried it at higher ranks can recommend it. I'm pretty surprised that it isn't nearly as popular as I thought it would be, before it came out it seemed that everyone wanted to try it, but now even in battles with over 20 players, there are often only 2 or 3 people using it, maybe it will catch on over time.
