Played with Vulcan for a little today, for the first time in forever. It was very fun but sadly not very effective. It feels like you are tickling enemies.

I've run into a couple Vuls the past couple days that have been a real PITA. The thing is they can wear you down from all over the map. You can help teammates anywhere you see. There is a new firing opportunity coming along all the time. When several enemies are in sight you can let the thing overheat for a good long while shifting targets. So you can keep that DPS flowing for many of the 900 seconds in a standard game.  It adds up.

Mind you I almost never play DM anymore. I also would not complain if they gave it a mild DPS boost or better yet more downward firing arc.

Keep tickling them , its a tickle at first but before they know it their health is running out . Its not a 1/2/3 shot killer , keep those bullets flying and see the nr's adding up . Try to keep dustance but not so much that the damage goes down , medium range is perfect . Also try to lock on 1 enemy at the same time and in typical places for snipers ( trees ) spray some bullets around , on more then 1 occasion you suddenly see damage arise before you can see him . This helps also your team since they can see where you are shooting .

When Twins can out-fight Vulcan at long range, then there is something wrong with Vulcan.,

There is something wrong with Vulcan.  Perhaps if it has USEFUL alterations such as Twins has, Half the turrets have useful atterations. the other half have bad alterations or none at all.

So much half-completed stuff in TO. Anyone who half-performed like this in any of the professional jobs I've had would have been fired long ago.

For me super effective, when I attack in the new mode, Vulcan Viking m2 is great. Gets a good KDR and kills hornets well

Yep, and ricochet. Useful alteration would be massive range, slower reload speed (pretty fast already)

agree Agent101us. Vulcan can be quite effective.Been seeing them much more often all of a sudden.  Though it sure seems nicer on some maps than other. I miss Parma and Deathtrack for example.

I posted the above after an annoying exchange. I think they really overdid the range extender for Rico and Twins. Hard to understand Twins has 3 and Striker has none.  Vulcan has two but why would you want either?

Thats because when people see somenody get good kills , they start using it also . Ive been playing a while back on my medium rank acc with hunter vulcan and at the same upgrade lvl my vulcan is deadlier then the rico i got . When i use it , there is always people showing up with a vulcan also . When i started on m3 lvl it was just the same ... suddenly they pop up . At legend lvl it stops because there people play with what they want and they got like a real arsenal at their garage .

Alts ... yes , halfway work , some weapons got them all , others got nothing or like vulcan got nothing even halfway interesting . A alt i would like is larger bullet size ... more damage , faster overheating , making like burst shots like this

C'mon, no such thing as a bad idea, Buggati. Y'know, except the guy who thought Thunder would be a genius idea -.-

you mean some "nice" damage with "short enuf" reload?

Enemy team on Massacre had four possibly five Vulcans last night. 5th one might have been a respawn. Did not have much time to look. I grabbed the flag and Vucans from E, S, W, and N hit me all at once.

Vulcan, one of the best, if not the best, turret to defend the flag. And you can be sure that there will be at least one Isida heal you when he drive by, especially every one just want to cap the flag and no one is defencing.

Not only that Vulcan, if used with medium hull

Vulcan also best for attacking enemy while grabbing their flag

For defense, some vulcan players prefer having 2 or more personal isida. Simply one isnt enough to heal an overheated vulcan while the enemy/ies is also doing damage to them.

As a Vulcan user - with viking/wasp hull I am having problems with turret movement (its slow ) and have picked up the bad habit of using the hull to aim . That has worked fairly well against weaker foe , however against most opponents my deficiency is my major flaw especially with Viking/ heavy hulls. The result is while they float like a butterfly and sting like a bee , I end up doing my best burning wreck impression..

MuhammadAli_1-735000.jpg

To compensate I am doing the shoot, move at range which doesn't play to Vulcan's strength . Should I save to get the Faster horizontal tracking upgrade at 50 k ? I am hesitant as the vertical aiming is one of the guns best features and crystals continue to be premium.

It is a good weapon for mid range support. Good against open area when you have walls near you. be careful of railgun and need a fire protection module is enough to tear enemy apart. Work well in high level if your teammate have good short range combat player to keep enemy from focusing on you.

I do like it Avenger as it fits my style as I can either act as a distraction or go in closer for mid range . Once you start bringing the gun up to speed - ppl take notice and the smart marks on the team can pick them off as they get into position to fire.

Its odd though -I am not sure if its a Vulcan thing that goes back to cavemen being overawed by the wheel but why do other Vulcans always want to start a pisching contest with each other -inspite of the team situation? More than any other turret -they will find each other and do that chicken mating dance of pouring hot metal into each other.. :)

I am not sure I am going to invest in that horizontal tracking for Vulcan as yet due to crystals- but even though I had it would not. Does it dramatically increase my kill ratio the answer would be No. Instead will focus on upgrading hull and protection as its cheaper and the benefits will redound to my other turrets

I own the M1 it is absolutely amazing... The damage that it does to your own tank though is considerable.

I believe that it is worth it to get one anyways!
