I just went up against a Vulcan Viking M2 (Looked like a rare Vesuvius, as it was under Viking unlock rank) in Brest. It was an absolute nightmare. It was sitting on the bridge with an Isida behind it (both were RU), and me with my Isida Hornet jumped off the higher level onto the lower grassy part. In that short time frame, it turned my tank around 120degs and completely screwed me over.

Did Vulcan get a silent impact force buff?

It did not. But if a tank is in mid air then Vulcan's impact becomes noticeable. It's fun when you can catch a tank like that as it is rather unexpected. :)

I have Vulcan M1.9. Can I carry the Vulcan on up the ranks and still be effective or should I be thinking about another turret? Perhaps Thunder, for example.

I only play CTF using vulcan and titan, which I never cap or return a flag (I'm too slow to do so). It is still the one of the best flag defending turret. I use it on heavy hull due to the overheat and have to expose quite long to deal effective damage.

BTW, I see you have Vulcan M0, do you mean other account?

Bought Vulcan m2 on the sale last week.  Way better than some people have been saying.

Certainly has limitations - not as good on smaller maps, where short-rangers will likely destroy you.

But on large maps like Kunger?  Wow. awesome for defending flag area, still knocks light hulls around.

And the 50% weak damage?  Most of the hopeful flag-capers were whittled down before they got halfway across the bridge.

If you happen to get an isida trailing along get midfield and keep firing - enemies just started hiding.

The best pro if you have a isida with you youare INVINCIBLE

I'm having a problem with repair kits and vulcan. I get the initial 1000 hp heal but then nothing. I'm not getting hit during the heal and it only happens about half the time. Anyone come across this?

I posted in the glitch section and got ignored so I'm back here.

Oh did the instant heat up glitch get solved too 'cause           Er read above.

Were you over-heating when you activated RK?  May be considered as "taking damage" like being shot.

Yes it was when hot but not glowing red. Sometimes it works no problem heading into trouble, firing and hitting 1 and a full heal. Next time sat behind cover miles from the action and just the first 1000hp then nothing. There doesn't seem to be any constancy to it.

I have not seen this that I ever noticed at least. Are you sure there was no splash damage catching you when you saw this? There are no visual indicators for when you are getting splashed so it can go undetected.

As for the overheating, no it has not been solved.  But that should not abort an RK.  RK's cure overheating.

Yes , i figured out the best way to get around it is not shoot for 1 sec and then press the repair . If you are not hit it will keep on repairing .

Kungur is the best (or close to the best ) Vulcan map .knocking light hulls , besides when falling/jumping i never noticed it ( i got M4 ) .

That certainly is not true, while it can be strong , its also easily taken out , like any other weapon or hull .  Isidas are handy but rather then 1 healing me all the time , a healing isida obstructs my movement ( not always ) . I do like attacking with the vulcan , mainly midfield ...  the overheating is rarely a problem , you can shoot long time before releasing fire and then firing again . For the glitch ... isidas are fine and so is a freeze .

Well if Matt and sezze both have sen the RK failure bug it must be there. I will now look to see if it happens to me. Thanks to sezze100 for the workaround tip.

I miss Deathtrack and Parma those were great Vulcan/Wasp maps. Desert is usually fun but you usually die more. Cowabunga!

Parma , yes , Deathtrack , never really played or not remember . Esplanade ... really good ... was thinking about it a couple of days ago where it went . They are all taken out of the standard maps . They complain we always take the same maps , but poly is always in normal rotation , so is Brest , Kungur , Solinamsk , Barda ,

Desert , reasonable for vulcan , many rails around though ...

Not forget Massacre , also very good vulcan map .

Best maps for vulcans : elevations + largely open . Those 2 together makes you get full use of the good vertical aiming ( much more difficult for other weapons ) and you got the range to get further targets .

The RK is not really a bug ... its because you get actually hit , but by yourself ... you are overheating and not in cooling down phase . Its like you are attacking with thunder and you hit RK , and shoot yourself at close by enemy , your RK will not work , because you hit yourself . So the trick is that stop firing so you stop overheating more , and start the cooling down phase , and then hit RK .

I said ages ago that vulcan is a good turret. Just make sure to use it on medium-sized maps like industrial zone and barda. Maybe Kungur.

Industrial zone it's kind of meh - too much cover.  Peek-aboo turrets and twins, Hammer, etc do better on IZ.

Vulcan thrives when it can have sustained fire.

Barda though - yes - lots of open ground for chewing up targets.

I'm not a big fan of IZ but vulcan is pretty good on rugby mode. Most tanks concentrate in the middle of the map as that's where the points face each other so lots of damage to be done.

Ah - I don't play rugby much.  Not a fan of that mode - only play if I get a decent crystal reward - and even then I switch any mission requiring "goals".
