I recently gave Vulcan a second chance after letting it sit in my garage and collect dust as an Mk1.  IIRC, it was just an okay turret but not great.

I bought Mk5, and I must say that I like this a lot more than I used to. It's fun to use and it's something I see myself using pretty often. I don't know how it'll play with the new update but we'll see.

Welp, Vulcan isn't that great anymore. Maybe I just have to just get used to it again, but it not firing in a straight line is frustrating, and the damage feels reduced.

Wasp Vulcan with RAT is insane now. The fact that I get up close to the enemy to deal damage and Vulcan is currently boosted up close, it's perfect. I can circle them at full speed if I want to now rather than having to make janky cuts in my speed all the time.

The new Vulcan sound is cool and all, but I’d rather hear twins with a brick on the space bar.

I adore the new sounds.

After playing a dozen games I think the changes have definitely given overall killing power a boost, all things considered.

I thought the projectile speed might be an issue but I actually think it's fine - I can't imagine anyone is going to have a problem adapting to it. And obviously the projectiles look good which is what REALLY counts. I'm pretty happy!

Yeah, I agree. Honestly, the projectiles look good, but when I'm playing in a winter-themed map, I can barely see where I'm shooting, espicially in long range distances. It does make sense, since they buffed close range they have to nerf another aspect. The sounds are annoying at the start, but they aren't that bad once you get used to them. Or you could always turn off volume lol.

It's an autocannon firing continuously... they are actually very loud! I haven't done a peak decibel check because I have a life but I imagine it is the same level for some other turrets in game - it's probably just more noticeable when you are firing all the time. Or maybe it's just to fool people into thinking it does more damage than it actually does - it sounds like it's making Swiss cheese of the entire map.

Vulcan is sooooo getting nerfed again an a day or two!

Vulcan is now awesome! Well at legend Mk8/M4 whatever.

The ricochet effect is brilliant, if you know what to do with it, and the ability to pop out, rip off a stream of bullets and hide before the target even knows they are on their way is almost as much fun as using smokey from the other side of the map.

But can you TURN DOWN THE VOLUME A BIT please?

Nice one Tanki ?

Because last time they buffed it everyone ****ed and moaned that is was too good so tanki nerfed it into near uselessness.

The only plus was that nobody bothered to equip any protection against it.

This update removes just about all the things that made it hard to use well and added a very useful feature.

Just wait for the isida/freeze/firbird crowd to start complaining that they aren't the most OP anymore!

Oh and I love the instant spin up with ssr alt

Which feature?

Even though this update appears to have made Vulcan very effective at medium range - the change also maes it more difficult to kill at longer ranges.

Sped up the barrel time, good.

The fact it takes 20 minutes for the bullets to travel to the target, bad.

Can't hit anything with it now... because your chosen target has already ****ed off before the bullets have traveled to where they were.

Ricocheting the bullets around the map. Really annoys shaft players when I shoot them and they can't shoot me!

Well - the bouncing bullets are slower right?  So in the open, they will be less effective.

PLus - they are only available in the bundle - so we won't be seeing too many of those around.

No, the ricocheting bullets are in stock vulcan now. The bundle just makes it so that you get more ricochets. Think stock its 1 maybe 2 ricochets off of surfaces then nothing. So bundle will be better for shooting into tunnels etc.

I didn't buy bundle. But I am getting kills shooting at walls as enemies close in around corners :D.

This update is great. Was hoping for more in depth discussion from changes. Like the damage displayed is 50. So what is damage per sec? How many bullets are shot etc per second? 15? 14? Damage was 688. so 14 bullets is tiny increase to 700 damage. 15 bullets is 750 damage per second if its that. So how m uch was damage buffed?

Don;t see a nerf in the works. Sorry folks. Think. How was this advertised? They know its "strong". They know vulcan has been "weak", collecting dust and very few playing it (though, clearly, I adore it). What bout when they released changes to turrets like freeze, and magnum? They stayed strong for much longer than a few days.

They waited. Let players purchase them. Enjoy them. etc

By the way... I'm still dying, and people need time to adapt. Wait until more people equip protections. That is only downside I foresaw. Was that up until yesterday, I rarely saw any protections against my turret... so I thought it was good. Now they buffed it, but I'm fighting against more protections... so.

Anyways. The sound is great. The turret and changes are pretty good. Not really sure about the comments about targets being hard to shoot while moving.... I mean I'm a really long time vulcan. But i have no problems shooting and aiming and hitting with this thing. Sure yeah, extremely long distances really are discouraged now. So don't try to be a shaft. And this weapon just works.

ok so i just tried incendiary band etc, and can see perhaps with some of the other alts.

yeah, i see what you mean with the shooting being delayed for incendiary. its not the best. i agree. in this case.. not even a nerd that is needed. could be a buff in some ways.

not sure. need time. but i understand what people mean now.

Seeing that Vulcan is more effective up close, have your experiences with Hunter Vulcan gotten better?

The rotate issue is still there so I only use that combination in specific situations.

It's still way better with Dictator.  You use OD with Vulcan-dictator way more than Vulcan-Hunter.  Hunter OD really only good at basically point-blank range.  Vulcan still has issues there.  So Hunter OD does not get used nearly as much as say... if you used turrets like Ricco or Freeze or Hammer, etc...

Yeah, I agree. Using hunter promotes close-range combat which isn't a notable strength for vulcan. Dictator however helps with vertical aiming and the overdrive comes in clutch when your overheating.
