The Firebird protection module no longer decreases the damage sustained from ignition.

Bummer...I know when I lucked into Fire Immunity I switched to using Vulcan and quit equipping fire protection. So does Vulcan prot reduce afterburn at all?

What happens with your old keyboard?

Are either of your keyboards cordless?

99% of the time I have no issues with Vulcan.  1% of the time I might have issue similar to what you mention above.

both keyboards works awesome ..but i dont know why sometimes im not able to shoot continuosly ....for this i want a additional control for vulcan like ..press a key and start shooting and press another key to stop shooting ..but this make the controls too complex perhaps its already complex ..complex for newbies ..but what about my problem ..

Do you have similar problem with Twins?  The other turret where you never take thumb off spacebar...

Are the keyboards wireless?  My wireless sometimes shows lag which affects vulcan periodically.  But not nearly as much as yours does.

So I got both Rubberized rounds and Incendiary band. I also have Heat Immunity on my hull (using heavy hulls BTW). Which augment do you guys think is better? I haver tried Incendiary band and yeah the DOT effect pretty amazing, but the bullet traveling speed is so slow which makes it impossible to aim any one in mid to long distance.  Rubberized rounds might be better in terms of aiming, but I will lose the DOT effect and I'm not sure whether the ricochet effect will actually do much.

I think it depends on the situation. These 2 alterations will have varying effectiveness depending on many factors like how much heat resistance and immunity is there in the enemy team, the map, the objective etc. The cool part about alterations is that you can switch them out whenever you want. Since you have both of them, I think you should use both depending on which one you think is better for each match.

The only time vulcan stops shooting for me is when mounted on viking and using the OD. I have to stop for a few seconds after Viking OD is over and then resume shooting. Because of that only use the OD when at a distance from enemies.

I prefer the incendiary bands for a two reasons...1) once I hit a target (unless they have immunity to afterburn...fairly rare still) they are marked and easy to track behind objects since the afterburn damage keeps following them. 2) it allows me to win many 1v1 battles by using the afterburn effect...hit and hide...let afterburn work...hit again and hide...works great unless they have afterburn immunity.

i think so too.

and incendiary bands can put on fire as much as compact fire alt!

so this is more dmg if you have a lot of skills))

i suggest this new augment

Vulcan augment-Cryo bands

+shots freeze the target

+Maximum freezing per projectile:0.07%

-freezing only when no self-heating

-Overheat resistance=6.00sec

This augment makes more easy targeting.

Explain the augment

Part of the ability to cool the barrel has been changed to the ability to cool the target.
Therefore, the barrel immediately heats the hull.

So which hull works best with Vulcan now after the rebalance and Ares release, assume players have full access to all equipment (augments, drones, etc)?

In general, I always see players with Vulcan + incendiary band + Titan always putting in work.

Vulcan and Hornet with RAT augment is decent without drone and good with drone. Its fun watching it shred through defenses like butter with hornet OD. However, based on experience, it can be a bit streaky at times.

I think Vulcan is a poor weapon for this game.  It gives an unfair advantage to the tank that has it.  Others don't have a chance to shoot at it before they're dead.  And if you do shoot at it, it's rapid fire quickly decimates all opposition.  You can shoot at it until you're blue in the face and you're still dead.  I've seen several tanks attack one at the same time and they all end up dead.  It's a lucky person that actually gets to kill one of them; it's pure chance.  There's no skill involved to use it.  I even tried it once.  And my biggest complaint about it then, and still is, why does the turret move independently from the tank?  All other turrets move with the tanks movement, and only turns when you physically turn it, so why is Vulcan's different?  I found it much too hard to use.  And while I'm on the subject, since Vulcan has an immobile turret, meaning it can't move up or down, only sideways, how come it can shoot at a 45 degree angel from a level surface?

I know I'm going to get a lot of negative feedback from this, but I still say it has an unfair advantage to the user of the tank.  And it hurts the game, overall!!!

That is its gyroscopic feature, allowing it to stay focused on the target when under impact force from the enemy or turning your hull. It's supposed to help you. You may have been too accustomed to the other turrets. If you keep playing with Vulcan, you'll see how much of a benefit it is.

I don't know what you mean here. Are you talking about its vertical auto-aim or are you talking about its ricocheting mechanic?

Besides the much higher DPS I had before the damage nerf, I never thought I had an unfair advantage over my enemies. One of Vulcan's biggest weaknesses besides remote targets that are in motion perpendicular to its own hull, is its failure to deal with peek-a-booing enemies. It needs constant hits on the enemy to deal good damage. So ranged turrets like Railgun, Thunder, Striker, Smoky, Gauss and RGC Magnum counter you. Those enemies can peek and shoot you while they take minimal damage from you.

Overall I don't think Vulcan currently has an "unfair advantage" over others by itself. I do see players still saying that Vulcan is overpowered even after the damage nerf so I'd want to hear what they think of it.

I don't think it is OP at all...especially in the legend ranks. Recently I was inspired to start a new account and have been playing about 8 days...already at the Second Lt rank (almost to 1st Lt). I just got the m4 Vulcan at that rank. Mounted on the Dictator M4. It is a little bit OP since protections don't really exist at those ranks. The highest protections I have faced are around 15-20%. Still it deals nice damage when you hit your OD in the Dictator.

I agree with you that there is no "unfair" advantage at the highest ranks. Mount most any turret on Hornet and give the right drones to a good player and it is OP. Vulcan alone...not so much. Your assessment of its weakness is spot on...you MUST deal CONSTANT damage for it to be effective.

Vulcan's projectile speed is so slow. The real life counterpart, the M61 Vulcan, a Gatling-style rotary cannon which is commonly mounted on fighter aircrafts, has quadruple the muzzle velocity (i.e. max. projectile speed, as you may know projectile speed decreases over distance due to air resistance).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M61_Vulcan

Currently, it is very hard to track enemies in mid to long range using Vulcan. I really hope the projectile speed will be significantly increase while decreasing the damage.

They made it a medium ranged turret instead of short ranged (like Ricco).

A real Vulcan might have much higher muzzle velocity - but - it also would not do much damage from far away.  It is designed for close-in-combat in jets, armored vehicles and on ships as part of the CIWS.

I could give up some DPS for faster projectiles, but it's a tricky slope.  Would not want to see drastic changes - as enemies will find cover and your brief bursts will do even less damage than they do now.

Then what would be the point of Vulcan undergoing the rework? By increasing the projectile speed and decreasing the DPS even further, you[['re putting it back to what it was before the rework, and worse too since it still has travel time while pre-rework was a laser. To break away from what it was before the rework, you give it noticeably higher DPS but make it harder to deal full damage (projectile speed decreased).

@At_Shin Here are three that I recorded. All of them were against enemies with not the brightest GS or supply usage but still shows that the combo is at least playable.

Spoiler

As you can see, there is still a problem with mobility. While I can finally strafe while shooting, I still cannot circle enemies properly. Circling requires me to meticulously decelerate and accelerate while turning to keep the projectiles trained on the target. I can't do that on mobile because there, it's full speed or nothing, so I overshoot it and can no longer initiate the circle.

The other thing, which is just a product of the feature in general is it's hard to keep track of your ammo when most of your focus is going into strafing. The button is smaller and at the end of the screen. If I had Heat Immunity, then that wouldn't have been a problem but I have to be extra mindful of my ammo since I don't.

Speaking of augments, what are the best ones these days for Vulcan paired with Ares?

Reinforced Aiming Transmission is generally the best augment for Vulcan overall. I've seen Incendiary Band Vulcans do well with Ares, usually paired with Heat Immunity.
