I wonder how long it will take to kill an opponent with this turret. Walls and other objects could be block by it's shot trying to hit it's targets. And over-using the turret could lead to self-damage. I have a feeling it won't be as versatile as the other turrets but we'll see.

Does anyone know this question: If the turret stops shooting at maximum rate, then will the heating stop too?

I think it would stop at the same rate a burn from Firebird would. My theory (please, it's just an idea):

The burn affect of the Machine Gun is affected by the model of the weapon. (M0, M1, M2, M3)

Say, for example, if you were equipping an M0 Machine Gun and fired it at the maximum rate. I figure that if the burning effect used by Firebird functions the same as the burn recoil on this weapon, then you should start to lose health at the same rate as you would by being burned with an M0 Firebird. Likewise, if you put an M2 MG and fired it at the max rate, you would begin to take damage equivalent to being hit full blast with an M2 Firebird, the amount of damage at maximum overheat (where it would be equal to be getting hit point-blank with the Firebird) based on how long you fire.

Now, here's another thing I thought about: What about micro-upgrades?

Obviously, the mechanics of the MG and the Firebird are very different: One launches a large spray of burning material at the target at close range, while the other fires repeating rounds out of a barrel for a virtually indefinite amount of time (if the burning affect was NOT taking place) at a longer distance. However, they both have the ability to leave a lasting burn on a hull. (Obviously, the difference is which hull: your own, or the opponent's.) Now, in Firebird, there are micro upgrades that can increase the duration and damage of a lasting burn. The MG also has a burning affect, so might there be a micro-upgrade or two to DECREASE the damage and duration? Something to think about.

So, just to put a few extra ideas out on the forums, see if they'll stew.

The machine gun's not as recent as many people think it is, apparently. I did some digging and found this:

It looks like the devs planned on putting it in the old Tanki, but it wasn't implemented.

Maybe it simply wasn't market-worthy to put another weapon into the game so soon. I mean, implied by the older graphics, they had probably come out with Shaft inside of a year when they were designing this. It would have been illogical to have put in the weapon so soon; I'm still unsure as to why they revealed the MG so quickly alongside Hammer...

@TheKIllerPenguin: Where'd you find it anyway? :o

But I hope this thing will have infinite range. If it does, then it's a MUST BUY for me.

If not, I'll stick with my Thunder.

I mean, the V-Log did say it's for handling enemies before they get to you. . So I'm assuming it's going to surpass Twins/Ricochet, and either be at Thunder's range or more. . . .So . . .. Infinite Range? I hope. :P

And I was thinking TheKillerPenguin. maybe they did not release it back then because they couldn't make it have Gyro Effect back then? Without Gyro effect, it would kind of be like Twins except it can heat up . . .

And maybe they didn't have Shaft yet. They wanted a Sniper gun?

By the way, it looks like something that the A-10's would use for their machine gun. It looks like the 30mm 7 Barrel Gathland Tie GAU Avenge Gun. And yeah, there's nothing a tank would fear more!

While the A-10 does have a gatling gun, it's technically not a machine gun. It's a cannon, since it fires exploding rounds. In real life, a machine gun isn't going to do much damage to a tank. This is Tanki, however, so realism isn't a big deal. :P
