I personally love Vulcan, but after the update, it kinda went downhill. The alterations are kinda of crappy and recoil is low so I can't do many wheelies with Dictator. But if anyone can update its firing sound effect I would be glad. Although I still, and will always love Vulcan.

In my experience, It's pretty good there. Even in blue team. Deck isn't too big and too small.

It's decent, yes. You can even cap flags with a heavy hull like me (only thing that bothers me is that my hull is too big to go through the hole between the two bases). Not very open but at least you don't have to turn your turret that much. There isn't enough space for Freeze to go around you that's a positive too.

Oh yeeah. That gyroscope ability is so bad in very close range. Especially when freeze driving around you

Vulcan is OP? Analyze of Vulcan

Before we start, let talk about my rules of analyzing.

1. I only compare statistics of fully upgraded M3 items (aka M3+ or M4), since statistics lower modification will be affected by the level to unlocked.

2. Alteration will not be included in statistics comparison.

3. Notice that statistics of items may change in the future due to balancing.

4. Obvious characteristics will NOT be mentioned, unless they are important.

OK, let's begin!!!

Plus.png Pros

Plus.png High firing rate

Having the highest firing rate in Tanki YET, vulcan is definitely the best kill stealer in the battle field. Without have to consider reloading, it is just a piece of cake to take down a low health opponent, while others may have to reload and give your opponent a chance to run away if they cannot one-shot him.

Plus.png High accuracy

Due to the gyscope feature, vulcan will stay in the same direction when it is firing even the hull rotates. That means if any other turrets hit the side of your hull, you don't have to worry about missing your shot. If you are be hit at front of from the back, you will lift up a while, but because of its high firing rate, missing few shots is not a big deal.

Also, vulcan has the highest vertical aiming angle amount all the turrets YET. That allows you to shoot from a posistion that your opponent can't hurt you.

Another reason is not related to physical, but psychological, normally when you hit by an enemy with smoky or rail gun, you know they need time to reload, so you may take risk to take them down while they are reloading. However, vulcan doesn't need to reload!!! with the "clicking" noise when vulcan hits you, it create a fear and most people will rather take cover. That's why vulcan is a great suppressing weapon.

Minus.png Cons

Minus.png Low Damage

After the balancing, damage of Vulcan has been significantly decreased. Below is the statistics of Vulcan  and WASP :

Vulcan: WASP:

As you can see, Vulcan has to take around 3.7s continuous firing in effective range to destroy a WASP. Some people think Vulcan has high damage, but it is actually not.

Minus.png Limited Range

Believe or not, in my point of view, Vulcan is more like a mid range weapon than a mid-long range weapon. If you look at the statistics of smoky, thunder, vulcan.

Smoky: Thunder:  Vulcan:

They actually have the EXCAT SAME RANGE!!!!

If thunder is a mid range weapon, as mentioned in the wiki, then smoky and vulcan should also be the same.

Minus.png Slow Turret Rotation Speed

Again, Smoky, thunder and Vulcan have exact same turret rotation speed and acceleration. What make it different is, Smoky and Thunder can deal more damage with one shot, while Vulcan require tracking the opponent to deal effective damage. That makes vulcan impossible to use in close range especially when enemy comes from your back, unless you have significant health advantage (e.g. Vulcan+Mammoth VS WASP or Hornet).

In conclude, is vulcan OP? NO!!! Is vulcan useless? NO!!! I personally treat it as another version of Twins with longer range and a significant drawback. Whatever, it properly is one of the most easiest weapon to start with in tanki.

Vulcan is bad in large maps. Even in large open maps. Weak damage % is 25% so rven in Poolygon I need 7-10 seconds to kill medium m3 (without vulcan protection), when I am shooting from uppest side to other side of map. There are too many maps, where vulcan is horrible, few maps, where ok. And NO MAPS GOOD for vulcan. It's damage is so weakt, that it is bad/ok everywhere. I didn't notice freeze being OP, fire was good.

I didn't see vulcan dominating in any maps. And I haven't still seen it. So nerf was kind of surprise to me.

Actually, Rio is the vulcan dominating map.

The Vulcan. to me, is the best..... What I would like to see is the overheating effects counteract the Freeze effect. Scientifically it makes no sense that you still freeze up with all that heat being generated.

I currently use a Vulcan M2 (32/50) and Dictator M2 combo in most battles. I think it's really balanced- you can CC enemies really well as a midranger and occasionally cap a flag as well as defend most of the enemy attacks.

Although, I personally won't do any micro upgrades until I get a M3, this can save me many crystals.

Have you seen the gap between M2 and M3? I think it's better to invest in MUs on the long run, just not 50/50.

And/or buy turrets that are the last ones that were unlocked before the gap, like Smoky M2, so you might not need to MU much. Getting firepower through MUs is always costlier, though sometimes you just need more firepower no matter how.

Or you could only MU during sales. My alt, which is Major rank, has 34/50 Vulcan and 22/50 Dictator just from saving crystals and waiting for sales. It destroys everything in its path but not the same way as it used to pre-balance update.

Please, explain to everyone here how extreme the nerf was.

Twins knocks my aim off so easily now. Can't play like I played before. Weak damage is only 50% Damage per second needs to get higher if Tanki wants VUlcan to be competitive

Please, explain to everyone here how extreme the nerf was.

Other thing is that it lost much vertical auto-aim. Weak damage doesn't help much in real game. Who is going to play with vulcan in long-range maps? I play in these maps rarely. That weakened gyrscopic effect makes me so weak. Weakened gyro + less auto-aim is worse than bigger weak damage. After this nerf. Vulcan needs about 550-600 damage per second for m3 to be in balance.

Now it is even worse than hornet and isida. Of course it is weaker than smoky m2, fire m2 and other m3's.

Edit2: when i face viking with stormbringer I need at least few metres between us to do damage to them. That is horrible when I want to push viking away/off .
