Is there any way to shut out the game when switching turrets?

In a battle, it seems to take forever to switch equipment, by going to the garage -- evidently because we see and hear the battle continuing, which would not be likely to affect our desire to get to the garage, switch equipment, and return. Maybe it is my area's connection to the server, but it takes up to 40 seconds to reach the garage. If the game "stopped playing and updating" for me, it might speed up the process.

 

Side note: would it help if I shrank the window during the process?

Yes, shrinking the window using the + and - keys will help with lag.

Well, I will try the Q&A, but I was actually "suggesting" a "modification to the garage transfer that immediately shut you out of the game," rather than keep showing it while I (very slowly) make the transition. It seems like a basic tenet that was probably considered when the feature was made, so I'm not sure if it is a product of lag. Maybe it was not given as much consideration because for the DEVs, there is no lag.
