I thought science showed that the chicken came first. I saw it on National Geographic and I think they said that the chicken came first because a special protein necessary for the formation of the egg, can be found in chickens.  :P

Technically, it depends on what type of egg you are talking about, chicken egg, or dino egg

Dinosaur egg: Gives birth to dinosaur, which gives birth to other dinosaurs. Eventually, one of the dinosaurs evolve into a chicken over a long period of time. In this case, the dinosaur came first

Chicken egg: Chicken eggs can only be made with special fats/proteins in the  mother's body. Without it, the egg can't be formed.

The egg - a chicken doesn't plop out of nowhere. Think about evolution. A species similar to chickens could have laid an egg. Natural selection takes place (go google natural selection if you're not sure what it is) then an egg is laid and a chicken comes from it. That chicken lays eggs and those chickens and the chickens after them etc.....

Voila! When I searched the meaning of natural selection it cam this...

It really depends on the definition of "chicken" and "egg". If by "egg" they mean "chicken egg", then the chicken came first, for or else there wouldn't be any chicken to create the egg. If by egg they mean "any egg", then the egg came first for the chicken's ancestor layed a egg, which hatched into a chicken.
