Better placement for Information Text (during battle)

Short:

Please place the information text message ("Your flag was taken by....", "xyz returned your flag..") at the bottom of the screen

 

 

 

Problem:

the text displayed during the battle ("Your flag was taken by....", "xyz returned your flag..") is placed on top of the screen. This is a very bad positioning as you can see in the pcitures below.

Switching the perspective could solve that.. but makes tankers blind for their surrounding.

Proposed Solution:

These text could be placed at the bottom of the screen. This space is unused and it does not disturb there.

See those screenshots that proove how disturbing these texts are.

Especially as they pop up right in "hot situations", when I need to react fast instead of changing the perspective just for one shot just because of the text..

I wrote the same complain several times in several topics.

I would be happy with the ability of completely switching that text off. For a railgun user that text is really disturbing on a big map.

 

And it was particularly disturbing when the f...frustrating early battle finish warnings were frequently coming.

 

On the other hand, I would not put that just down to the bottom center. I would prefer one of the corners.

Good idea.

You can also use keys - and + to change the size of your playing screen. Many players like to decrease it so that the UI doesn't cover as much of the battle view.

Thanks for the hint, I will try that.

 

IMHO the userinterface should also went down to the bottom.. as during battle most of the time you look forward.

Up there in the userinterface line (exp.points, crystals, garage, ...) is absolute _no_ information that is cruicial to your gameplay during the battle.

 

But I don't wanted to post all at once :p :p

cant we choose how big the font is for that? if you want it the same keep it if you want to make it smaller it will have a slider on the setting menu ti make it smaller or bigger if you choose

^ are you asking

- because you think the color/slider method has some usefull, significant benefit

- or are you asking in order to have at least a minor usefull change, if the more usefull respoitioning can not be done?

 

 

 

I asume that changing the position is a minor change to the code. Most likely just some parameter / constant value, that reflects the text position has to be changed.

This should be less work then font size, color and slider. Therefor I asked you back so precise, if you have a beneift in mind or just propose another alternative to solve the problem ;)

What if we could just totally remove the UI? You know...I've had this bug alot of times where my UI just dissapeared and I had to refresh,but the game looked really good without the UI,so much more peacefull you know? :D

Ok.. then lets see what we'll get there. Please just do not overload it with text again :)

 

btw, are there any chances to get some design screenshots from the new UI in a battle situation? I would be interrested in.

It is very overloaded with all that infos and screens and animations.

User interface design should be as minimalistic as possible (or at least have an optin for it) in order to focus on the game - IMHO.

Yes this, I also like the ability to see score and such trough the "tab" button.

User Interface won't be changed in current version.

So as it stands, those messages could not be sent down to the in game chat as something in a different color, leaving the red and blue for convo and maybe using the yellow/gold for in game notices?

I usually get my info from the flag status icons in the lower right corner. They flash and so tell you if the flags are home or somewhere on the run. They are much more intuitive and faster "decodeable" then reading a text.

Same works for CP battles. Just goldbox notifications are not shown in the lower right corner.

 

 

Now I noticed just today on a screenshot, that these infos about gold, flags, captures... are _already_ today_ in the status log in the upper right corner (the text-log where the kills are listed). So if the large text in the upper-center would be switched off... we lose no info ;). Wonder how many would miss the text in the upper center...

 

 

But most likely tanki does not care too much about cosmetics for the flash version any more as the work power is focussed on the new version.

That sucks even more than the current UI. I think the UI messages should be able to be turned off (and being able to be displayed by pressing F2 or whatever) and/or placed outside of the play screen.

 

Most of the overhead info now is useless such as we lost the point, or enemies captured the point or flag or returned it or whatever. You can see that at the bottom right anyway.
