Recommended Posts

Hi i just bought a Semi gaming tower pc and id like to know if i over payed. :Here are the specs AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.2 Ghz Dual Cores/ 3GB Ram/ HDD 1000GB/

 DVD Drive Read&Write

With 500 Watt Power Supply

Graphic Card Nvidia Geforce 7800GTX

Microsoft Window 7 Ultimate 64Bit Edition

Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus Pre-installed

Kodi/XMBC Preinstalled

'Gaming?' Mate, that's sub par even by normal standards. Even if someone overcharged you for that it would only cost 400$

I'm going to buy a new laptop soon. Its specs are: Intel i7 (2nd gen), 8 GB ram, 1 TB internal memory, 1 GB video memory, AMD 4048 MB graphics memory, and fingerprint scanner. May sound like a budget-killer PC, but it's just $2. Yeah, 2$. It's currently on auction and I'm the only and the highest bidder :D

http://www.ebay.com/itm/131539821665?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l4449&_trkparms=gh1g%3DI131539821665.N2.S2.M2068.R5.TR18

I opened the ebay link and it says it went for $102 ...

That surely can't be $1,500..

I did some research through amazon. Here's what I got:

CPU - $10.32

RAM - $9.99 + $18.13 (1GB stick + 2GB stick (DDR3))

GPU - $45.00

HDD - $47.99

PSU - $44.07

DVD-RW - $18.89

Office - $215.99

Win7 - $177.99

Total: $588.37

Without software & OS: $194.39 + Motherboard price + case price

I plan on getting this for £489.99... Is it worth it?

  • Intel Core i3-4150 3.5GHz
  • 8GB RAM + 1TB HDD
  • DVD Writer
  • NVIDIA GTX 750Ti
  • Windows 8.1 64bit

Get an SSD instead of a hard drive.

256GB would be enough, I would recommend an extra HDD for storage.

That way the operating system runs on the SSD, making your PC much faster.

I run all my games on the hard drive aswell.

Having an i3 in a gaming PC is nothing to worry about in general, aslong as the graphics card is good (yes that 750Ti is :P)

A processor won't affect your FPS in most games that much.

The i5 is best bang for the buck though. It'll increase your overall usage of your PC; multitasking etc.

But it's quite a bit more expensive than an i3.

If you intend to use your PC for serious video and photo editing, you should get an i7, but I don't think you will.

AMD makes stuff aswell, but I've no idea how their processors are called and how fast they are.

You didn't included the motherboard in your list, but I would not save money on that thing.

A motherboard is one of the most important parts. ATX-sized ones are the best in my opinion.

And then there's the power supply, case and cooling systems...

Total BS in the topic

That rig doesnt even qualify for semi gaming tag dude and Answer for your Topic is " YES you overpayed for your Pc" now dw

A semi gaming rig cost's far less about 800$-980$ and you're talking of a pc worth more than a 1000$ , Are you for real? I think NO.

doh.. Still $102 is quite cheap for that PC

My point was, I'm not sure where you got the '$10' from. You were over $90 away from the real selling price.

But yeah, $102 is still cheap. However I wouldn't buy a random second-hand laptop on ebay with a price like that.

The highest bid was $10 when I posted it.

Whoops!

just rechecked my calculation, looks like i made a mistake in adding the numbers...i previously added them manually..but used a calculator this time and found it to be different...still its more than $ 1.5k...here goes the details: (the currencies are in Indian Rupee, i will show u the conversion later), (also the figures are an approx values)

AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.2 Ghz Dual Cores - Rs. 2500

3GB Ram - Rs. 6000

HDD 1000GB  Rs. 4000

DVD Drive Read&Write  Rs. 1700

With 500 Watt Power Supply - i dont think that this matters (except his electricity bill), so free of cost.

Graphic Card Nvidia Geforce 7800GTX -  Rs. 38000

Microsoft Window 7 Ultimate 64Bit Edition  - Rs. 28000

Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus Pre-installed  Rs. 31000

Kodi/XMBC Preinstalled  -  free of cost

so this sums up to be   2500 + 6000 + 4000 + 1700 + 38000 + 28000 + 31000 = Rs. 111,200

and Rs.111,200 = $ 1750.08

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see this topic until now.

First of all I don't know why you gave windows 7 and microsoft office 10x the price lol.

Second I would get a Gtx 980 instead of 780 which is older. 780- Kepler(older), 980- Maxwell(new).

Third I wouldn't place an athlon x2 with a gtx 780/980 as it will bottleneck and reduce performance. I would recommend an i5 4460 atleast or AMD 8350.

And last you can get 8 GB RAM dual ch. 4x2 for Rs. 6000.

I would suggest to replace the gtx 750ti with amd r7 360 if you plan on gaming. It's the same price but the newer and faster one. But the 750ti is still a good card for that price. If you can raise the budget a little bit by $30 you can choose gtx 960 which has very good price/performance.

Well, I dont think that Microsoft sells windows 7 anymore...and as for office, i have the proof in the pic below and/or the Microsoft Store

And, if you're done, I would like to end the conversation on my part because the creator(@freshmetal_GTi) of the topic has never came online after that, and I think that we are pointlessly discussing over the topic.

7000$ ._. Wow.. I'm pretty sure he isn't a hardcore gamer. I'm getting this built, it runs GTA V at an average of 55.4 FPS.

Sorry but the 7800 GTX is a 256 MB card and was released in 2005 and is 10 years old. I don't know who will buy that now for a high price like that.

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+7800+GTX

I'm pretty sure that was a typo and he meant gtx 780.
