Lets discuss converting oxygen into carbon dioxide.

Converting Oxygen into Carbon dioxide is easy, The hard part(Impossible part) is converting it back

It's not impossible - the super obvious way is plants 'converting' it back on an extremely large scale via photosynthesis, and there are also recent high-energy methods which can be used to break CO2 down into carbon and oxygen...

Find some coal and burn!

And that converts oxygen into CO2? Yea-no.

To address the discussion topic, respiration is a good method which practically all living organisms do... We breathe in oxygen, and we breathe out carbon dioxide. Maybe, just maybe, this highly complex process involving breathing in and out was likely what the OP was referring to?

You breathe in and out, you bunch of blissfully unaware people. I'm glad you guys don't need to know how breathing works in order to carry it out...

(EDIT) Just realised pho told me this is my 5000th post, cool.

Do you know how to do this?

How to do this? Burn a pencil! Graphite will react with the oxygen in the air and make carbon dioxide. C + O2 = CO2

Well most of living things convert oxygen to carbon dioxide, even plants do so and it's a really complex process if we go down to the cellular level. Ugh just burn a pencil; it's the easiest way!

Don't think the above reaction happens . I think u should -

Take a hard glass test tube and put some freshly prepared lime water in it .

Take HCl ( hydrochloric acid ) and marbles ( CO3 that's carbonate or u can take sodium carbonate which will be easier ) then u need to take another hard glass test tube and a corked bent tube ready . Then put the components in the second hard glass test tube and quickly put the cork over the test tube .

Then take the lime water and put the bent tube inside that . Observe now ! The bubbles u see in the lime water is CO2 gas .

By conversion I assume the person means to use oxygen to make carbon dioxide, because you can't convert oxygen into co2 by dictionary definition (atoms can't magically change form into compounds).

There needs to be a reaction for oxygen to be used in the making of co2. (Correct me if I'm wrong and include a source while you are at it)

Coal is pure carbon.

The air contains oxygen.

Burning coal outside of a vacuum = C + O2 -> CO2

I don't know what you're talking about dude (care to elaborate on what you meant by yea-no)?
