Dictator Fix

Hey guys, just to let some of you know this topic is not for dictator lovers so no need for any of you dictator lovers to give me down-votes.If you have ever tried to climb a dictator with wasp or hornet you will immediatly find that there is some sort of "invisible border" and it makes it quite hard for you to climb something that is supposed to be not too difficult to climb.Here is a photoshopped picture of what I mean where the black lines represent the "invisible border":

well that is why u can catch a lot of golds with it and its available to everyone so u can catch gold with it, the thing that no one is able to climb on it makes it more advantageous for catching gold and that is better

Thats about half of what Dictator is. Here is what it really is.  Red = Me

Basically Dictator is just one massive hit box, in other words what it on top of buildings.

I am not asking for it to be smaller in size I am asking for dictator to have a more slanting border that matches the "visible shape" so it can be easier to climb on.

The reason why the developers decided to give game objects a box collider (roofs, turrets, hulls) is because it takes up less resource from your PC, making the game performance smoother.

 

Hitbox is known as 'Collider' in some cases

OK so will this Collider be also in game engines such as unity? I am asking this for info about unity tanki online.

actually i feel dictator enourmous hitbox is just an advantage for gold boxes. lucky, i think that the new unity version will be a little more resource-consuming and could use a proper hitbox that matches with the hull shape.

In unity, there are many types of Collider.

 

They come in various shapes, such as a Box, Sphere, Cylinder, Capsule...

 

One of it is known as a 'mesh collider', it completely follows the shape of the game object to very high detail. I mean VERY HIGH!

 

The cons of using it is that it takes up a lot of resource, the game may take a longer time to load, and you may experience lags.

 

So the developers may decide to use box Collider more often, for roofs and maybe turrets and hulls.

 

I have no idea if they are gonna give Dictator a box or a mesh Collider. If they use box, there will still be an invisible wall. If they use mesh, tanks can go up the inclined surface.

Great info! One more thing is it possible to use mutiple colliders on a certain object like a dictator?

Certainly yes!

Some game developers use 4 cylinders and 1 box (flatten) to make a table ;)

I have noticed that sometimes parts of a dictator never even touch a gold box yet they manage to get it.

That's cuz there is an "invisible box" known as the collider.Read the above posts for more info about colliders.

This also means Dictator is a lot taller than other tanks, use it for catching gold as it's useless everywhere else!

 

How hard is it for the devs to actually make a reasonable hull hitbox? I have noticed the hitbox extends past the end of the hull too.

Turret hitboxes make the hulls look sloppy! FIX THIS.

This has been suggested before...it is expected that it gets fixed in unity version...

Actually, there are some technical aspects, making the hit box exactly as its appearance would involve much of work over it....they would eventually lead to more and more of laggs while playing with such hulls....so to reduce lags, the hit boxes are made in shape of cuboids, rather than going in the details of adding a cylinder, a cone, a line, and so on...

Hopefully, this will get fixed along with the release of the unity TO..

So why did the devs go all out with the turret hitboxes? They're more detailed than the hulls.

well, if you notice ...they are similar to the hull's one...the same cuboids.....

do you notice that the turrets dont  have any hitbox as such....like say for the railgun, shaft, thunder, etc...they all can very well pass through walls....while a hull cant, because it has a hitbox....

on the other hand, considering small turrets, like isida...there is a small cube around them...so if a tank climbs over such tanks, they actually "Fly" between the hull and themselves due to an un-balanced base,,,
