Let's Discuss Game Balance

Tanki spends a lot of time talking about game balance and how important it is.  Many of us have had to abandon favorite turrets or hulls as Tanki "balanced" them into semi-worthlessness.  Along with the daily mission change (which is absolutely horrible unto itself) came another disaster.  The rank spread in standard battle has been expanded "only a little, by 4 or 5 ranks".  This is huge and completely overpowering.

 

I am of the 19th rank (Captain) and just got my first M2 equipment.  Previously I had to battle with much higher ranks (like rank 26 Generals) and it was difficult.  Now, with and extra few ranks thrown in, I must battle all ranks above me including the very highest Legend rank since they are all considered just Legend be they Legend 1 or Legend 1999.  With just purchased M2 stuff I am supposed to complete daily missions against players with all M4 equipment.  I don't stand a chance.  I get one shotted by Smoky, Rico, Hammer, of course Shaft and even two shotted by Twins...two shots.  Vulcans, Firebirds, Freezes just pass by me and I'm dead.  There is no way I can continue to keep up with my Daily Mission Chain (that I have kept up for almost a year without one day skipped) in Standard Battles against such high ranking players...it is impossible despite skill level.  It would be EXACTLY like me with M2 equipment playing against a Recruit.  The Recruit would not stand a chance.  

 

So how can I complete Daily Missions?  I can still generate Pro Battles and set the levels to a more reasonable spread, but what of the income lost from Daily Missions?  How long will it take to rank up and generate enough crystals to compete with levels 15, 20, 30 levels higher than myself?  A hell of a long time.  In essence it means that I have hit a ceiling with Tanki and will become just an occasional player since there is no incentive to play every day.  I am positive that I am not the only person to feel this oppressive crunch.

 

In any universe, how can this be "balanced"?

I don't understand why Titan can push Mammoth....

 

What is the point of owning Mammoth then? The only positive of it is more weight. Titan is taller but smaller, faster, and is apparently more powerful.

me-thinks Devs definition of "balance" and everyone else's definition of "balance" are completely different.

The game is over as far as I'm concerned. I'll never be able to get 20/20 so I can't really compete -_-

 

Time to try XP mode...

Instead of pumping all money into the black hole of M4s I think it's a lot more useful to be versatile and be able to adapt to the specific game situation

- by having many different turrets (i.e. if you see that the enemy built a bunker defense then take Magnum).

- by having always appropriate modules (imho the key to success)

- and maybe still have money left to buy those hulls that you find have good abilities (soon to be implemented).

 

If I still wanted to MU (despite the recent nerf and cost increase) I would buy the first 3-4 MUs straight away and MU the rest with one step at one discount event (with all items that I want to MU).

Tanki needs to do something. After Magnum was introduced into the game, there are too many long range and one shot kill turrets. It is nearly 70%+ tanks seating there to shoot in most of the team battles, no matter whether it is CTF, CP or TDM. I know everyone has the right to play battles in his/her own style but this situation destroys many CTF and CP team battles. Game mode is becoming meaningless. I am feeling boring now.

I know everyone has the right to play battles in his/her own style but this situation destroys many CTF and CP team battles. Game mode is becoming meaningless. I am feeling boring now.

Time to blow the dust off a few old PC games and re-visit them.

Being good for gold boxes is pretty much the only advantage Dictator has. In normal gameplay situations other hulls are almost always superior, mostly because Dictator is such a slow and massive target with not enough HP to compensate for that.

I think what he meant is that dictator can push the heavy hulls but even the heavy hulls have a hard time pushing the dictator, if any at all.

 

Or in other words, if you pit a dictator against a heavy hull in a pushing contest, the dictator will slowly push them back even if they push as well

 

 

So yeah I agree, dictator is OP for everything

Mammoth is more powerful and with more weight. That makes it good to camp and avoid kick-off from annoying weapons lie smoky or rail. However titan is slightly faster and more manoeuvrable which adds up versatility. Additionally, the m1 and m2 versions are unlocked at different ranks with different characteristics. Thus they may seem pretty similar at high ranks, but they have their distinctive role throughout a tanker's history. However, tanki thinks a legend rank is experienced enough to understand strengths and weaknesses of the two m3 versions.

Yes the devs in their arrogance have made the game totally unfair and totally UNbalanced. They did that to make more money. Now the only way for you to be competitive is to try to get in games with ranks a lot lower than you. OR fully mu your m2 equipment and then buy lots of drugs. So spend money to play, that is what tanki wants and all their patches and updates are NOT patches and updates but ways to make more money to the players detriment.

I don't see the link between turrets balancing and money spent. There's never been a rebalance so harsh to nerf a specific weapon down forcing you to buy money to buy others, and when that happened, in a few days some steps back were taken.

As we can read in Patch update #451

 

 

 

as with the MUs on M0 and M1 modifications, the total price for upgrading your M2 will now be equal to buying the stock version of an M3.

Do all micro-upgrades (10/10) take more crystals than one M-upgrade?

^^They do cost the same, as long as you do not use the 'Speed-Up' option.

At my very low level I use the Firebird with Wasp (Both M0, still n00b) on any CTF map that has relatively flat ground. With firebird you DESTROY, I agree that the firebird is a little bit OP but that's what modules are for, to protect you from different turrets (well not protect you 100% but it does protects you a little more then without it). In my opinion I believe that Tanki should reduce the damage done by the flame and increase the damage of the DoT. (Also while reducing the DoT length). If you really need to someone with is Isida could heal you or you can use a repair box if you really needed to. Also at my level people use firebird but I see more Magnum and Shaft.

I'm sure many of you have noticed as well. I don't know WHAT tanki did to the firebird, but it is rediculously over powered now. I can't even play on DM anymore cause it's nothing but FIREBIRDS. De-op the firebird! In the tanki v-log once, they said that the Hornet was every-other-hull. Well now the firebird is every-other-turret!! Idk what it's like for you liuetenants and Generallisimo's, but it is MURDER for warrant officers, and lower. Sorry if this goes to as a rant, but it is a rant. I am so sick of the firebird, I just wanna break it in half. What do you guys think?

I think they should add new modifications / M4 M5 M6 etc...

and add more hulls because they keep adding guns but no hulls.

They used to have 7 hulls.

 

But now they basically have 3.  They should just just go back to having those 7 hulls (which are actually different).

Hi there,
       I just found few imbalances in the game and wish to make the
game better...so here are a few i would mention to you...

   (1)    Noise - Blue team here is mostly losing...pls do something
for that..all the supply drop zones are exposed to red team
campers..and none of them are in the blue base...

   (2)    Ricochet - This gun lost its popularity since the last few
updates,,,,damage is reduced too much for it...and reload time is
simply too much....

   (3)    Magnum - This newly released kid is now gaining popularity
due to its high damage...and since people have started to understand
it...it is affecting the game balance.. i think that the rotation should be upto 180 and not limited to 90 degrees.

   (4)    Striker - Here...not a big imbalance..but i think the normal
space button should eject two projectiles..or 1 projectile that does
hiigher damage.....

   (5)   Smoky - An unexpected turret in this list...but i really
think it needs a buff..

   (6)   Isida - Since you removed the self heal....the increased
damage is still not enough to compensate...u should increase it
further.....
