Idea -> Alternation ;)

I think the "giving up of splash damage - and therefore not hurting yourself any more" could be a quite interresting Alternation for a lot of Thunder players.

So they give up Splash Damage and get... ?  Just the ability to not damage themselves?

Not sure that would fly. They can use a protection module to mitigate 50% of Splash already.

Thunders need to kill other tanks to score points/crystals and losing Splash would affect that negatively.

Maybe (slightly) increased damage? Or faster rotation?

Lol, i see. with hornet?  Being one-shotted by a thunder m3 with DD on is not pleasant.

But thunder is getting buffed anyway by the update, especially m3.

Depends on map. larger ones I often use hornet to chase down enemies and/or capture points/flags.

Medium and smaller I often go with Viking (soon to be Hunter     :( ) as per the Medic kit. Survive longer as I close distance.

But the time to close distance is less.  Although I agree that Hunter is better than hornet for a drug-allowed polygon CP.

Just to clarify... I'm not buying a Hunter.

Was just a reference to the "re-balancing" of hulls. Devs are basically taking away my Viking and giving me a Hunter.  :(

This idea will make isida a little more powerful to compensate for the nerf to 10% self-healing, but not as powerful as it is now (50%) self-healing.  Isida's max range after the update will be around 20 meters, i suggest keeping that, but if an isida starts firing at you within twenty meters, the beam will follow you up to 30 meters out, and then will dissapate.  So if i am 25 meters from an isida and he starts firing, nothing will happen.  However, if i am 15 meters away and he starts firing, and then I back away out of 20 meters, than the beam will still stay doing damage.  As it is now, as soon as I get further than 20 meters, the isida stops firing automatically.  Just to clarify:  30 meters is firebird's max range at m4 plus the length of Viking,  so this feature won't be that OP like 50% self-heal, but more balanced.  It would make the broadband alteration make more sense. I think it is a nice idea that ties in with isida's gameplay, and could be interesting to see in battle.

I'm glad they are lowering the damage of railgun with this rebalance update, i'm sick of seeing railguns one shooting every tank with double damage. Even if they don't have double damage, they can still shoot from a far distance, and when you're near, they destroy you. Is so stupidly annoying and unfair.

You realise that this "nerf" is meant to bring Isida on the same level as other turrets, right? Hence the "balance". By "compensating" for the nerf you are just making Isida more powerful again and destroying the whole purpose of reducing Isida's healing in the first place. In my opinion Isida will be fine after the update. This change would simply make it more annoying for players trying to fight against Isida.

Isida will be fine IMO, but it is certain that many current Isida players will hate the change. Many will likely drop Isida. These are the teammates who pop a speed boost so they can scoot away from your 95% damaged tank even faster in their haste to Uberly attack the enemy.

Those players will not be missed.

Too bad :D

Time to practice and work up some actual skill in this game, rather than relying on the overpowered stats of the turret.

Decrease damage on M1 Railgun

Why? Well you're just short of obtaining constant double damage compared to M0. 44 to 74 is close enough and it's insane, and those are the weak shots! It's insane how such a big increase in damage is applied when buying the M1, you can basically one shot all M0 tanks up to Dictator!

Railgun's damage will be reduced in an upcoming update, so that will remove its ability to one-shot unprotected hulls.

That's nice...

I bought the medic kit that had Isida capable of healing AND attacking.

Now you are changing what I bought - a change based solely on how it performs on drugs.

Guess what - ALL turrets are OP on drugs.

Rail M3 on DD one-shotting Viking M3? Does that not sound OP? How is that diff from Isida on DD?

Actually it is different from Isida - Rail can do this from across the map.

Isida will no longer be able to compete in DM battles if it does not heal itself. Other turrets either damage at range or damage multiple enemies at same time. Isida does neither.

Gonna refund my crystals?

Rail is already underpowered except for guys that have m4. Vulcan needs to be nerfed badly, along with isida and twins. M4 twins kill my M4 Viking in 2 seconds if I don't have DA on. It is ridiculous. Almost every DM is won by M4 mamy/M4 twins or some super souped up Vulcan.

Rail M4 with double-damage can one-shot kill an M4 Viking. Dead in one shot with no warning.

With a lucky shot it can one-shot kill an M4 Titan.

How is that underpowered?

Because all turrets get only x2 damage from DD, while Isida also basically gets x2 armor due to doubled rate of healing. So combined with DA, that's x4 armor and x2 damage. Very OP.

..and thats why the DD effect on selfhealing should be canceled.

This would do the biggest effect on Isida balance.

Don't forget Isidas can run out of juice. They are helpless during that time.

Firebirds and freeze at least have lingering effects as they recharge.

Not saying isidas don't need some tweaking. I've seen (also been) them wreaking havok on DD.

Point is without drugs and at 10% self-healing they will be defensive only. That's unfair to those who like variety.

A compromise would be as Blackwasp suggests (no boost to self-healing from DD) or...

A smaller nerf down to 30% or 25% self healing.

The proposed change is too drastic.

Railgun has a HUGE disadvantage compared to other guns. It's aim is super easy to knock off. It can shoot only once then needs to reload, and it takes a long time considering other turrets. Try using M0 railgun in an M0 battle where everyone has M0 and see how hard it will be to use it.

Take into account the late, very very late unlock rank of Rail M1 , while you can get Wasp M1 already at . Hornets M0 as well as Wasp M1 are not easily 1shotted by Rail M1; both are cheap and there is also a pretty cheap protection vs rail that keeps you alive.

Actually I see almost no railgun users at those lower ranks that are beginners. This turret has so many disadvantages (for beginners), that 90% of the low ranked rail users that I see are decent pro's that startet over with a new account.

Having quite some lower alts by myself, I spent some time there.. and in the meanwhile I can easily tell apart a pro that plays his lower alt from a real beginner. Those rail-wasp or rail-hornet guys know almost everything.. maps, locations, tactics, intercept sniping shots ar flagrunner routes, around-house-fight tactics, how to defend vs two incoming tanks if they are alone.. keep going on. They rock and score hard because they are _pro_ with [tactics], [skill], [and rail], and not because they have [a rail].

Wolverine848 - notice I said "except for M4 rail."

My bad.

Except... Rail M3 does 109-165 dmg (avg = 137). Viking M3 has 255 health.  Rail on DD = 274 avg dmg. So M3 can still one-shot an M3 Viking.

I stand by my previous statement.  B)

worst update for mammoth and rail. they just change the whole game. rail was good for what it was and mammoth is now useless like paints, and no one will buy mammoth, now Titan is good for it, they did really wrong with both

For all the Pro's and Con's, irrespective of your views one big bonus. battles are exciting  again (for me). It feels new and uncharted territory, you are again learning who is powerful and doing while it in battle. You don't way up what the other player has or has not got. you basically got to get into it and do it. I am really cheesed off about my Isida, I rarely battled each day. Tonight I have battled a lot and enjoyed all, win or loose.

At end of day, thats why I'm here, not for easy kills or simple wins, this is a game and I'm here for fun and enjoyment so Boo Hoo for nerfing my isida but Yippee for letting me get some intense and enjoyable battles.

As a side note don't like the heads up with the protection icons ( I'd prefer not to know) but love the damage counter.

I don't really care if you disagree or think I'm a noob, I'm here for me. So guys and dolls pull your neck in and enjoy the game
