Let's Discuss Game Balance

I know - but unfortunately people don't get that they have to buy their equipment based on that what the future brings and not how it is on the present day. The same happened with Hammer with each sale after last Christmas. The devs already said, that the next balance changes won't be before the matchmaking system is implemented.

Anyway, imho the top 3 OP turrets at the moment are 1. Magnum 2. Isida 3. Rico. On the lower end there are no clear losers, but it would be good if Smoky, Striker and the unaltered Rail would get some rather small buffs.

Yes, Rail will not get changes as it is the benchmark turret, I know  <_<

I am worried the addition of 6 new OD powers will force yet another re-balance. But I see the logic in finishing the MM first.

As for the turrets if Isida is indeed the #2 OP turret then all it needs is a tweak to some parameters.  Up energy consumption some or nefr DPS a bit ... whatever. But for Gods' sake don't re-design the basic concept yet again.

That is where Magnum is different. It does not need a parameter tweak. It needs a complete new conceptualization. This design is a failure.

I still miss my 50 meter 180* killing machine.

Twins is SOOOOOOOOO OP! I was using it earlier on viking, and you can beat an isida in head to head. Here is how; if you are reversing and isida is chasing, and he does not have wasp, your impact force slows him down. He will fall behind and you will escape his range and kill him! Twins needs balancing NOW!

(I am probably the first person here to talk about nerfing a gun I am using :D)

Its depend on what skills do you have and the player who is playing with a Turret  ,, i liked that way , but if he is more nearer and you don`t have Twins alt ,, it will be easy to kill u , because of Self-Damage + isida damage ,, it will be like X2 ,

The damage area for Magnum is too large, especially as the rank and upgrades kick in.  In noob hands it is a hard to stop kamakazi 1 kill 1 death turret.  In skilled hands it is just too overpowered and dominates the battle.  People talk about a "Nuclear Overdrive", but I feel Magnum is almost that already.  It is not like shaft or other long range turrets.  If there are a couple of Magnums in the battle all that can be done is to try to keep taking them out...the rest of the players and tanks are secondary.  Magnum should not be the focus of any battle it joins

For me it impacts the quality of battles for the worse...even if the Magnums are on my team.

Nerf 'em.

It always confuses me how someone with the same hull and number of upgrades can steamroller through me like I'm not there. Usually they will be part of a clan and wear an expensive paint. Hacking is the only reason I can think of.

They hack and then place mults on the opposition side

You are not alone. I've just lost a battle because of an M0 mult. He joined at the very end of the battle so recording and reporting him would just result in me getting more pissed off as he won't get banned since the recording would have been too short. Tanki simply doesn't do anything to help us so I will just assume they don't care anyway. Additionally with the introduction of the new overdrives we'll never be sure if someone whether cheats or has recently used overdrive.

Ghost and the blackchick

The hacking is at an all time high and is just ridiculous. I'm sure Hazel knows it and doesn't care because it is mostly Russians. I have all m4 which means nothing now. Especially some isidas and hammers, which I KNOW are weaker than my tank, just one-shot me or kill me in 2 seconds. If they were not cheating that is not possible. It is an embarrassment to tanki but they don't even know it or care. The devs are laughed at pretty much by any real programmers.

There are no hacks that increase the physical damage of turrets or your hulls' HP. This is because this information is stored in TO's servers.

The only true hacks that exist and that work are jump, speed, and infini-reload hacks.

Yeah I'm sometimes left scratching my head when a weaker turret (in theory) manages to destroy my M4 tank. Perhaps I get hit from another turret without realising it.

I do however think that shaft and magnum are too strong, as they can one-shot an M4 viking whilst it has double armour enabled.

Sorry Ninja

2016

Mid-October (update is being prepared for release)

- Global update of the game balance.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have read the top most upcoming update for 2016, and the re-balance update will cause a problem again. Please understand that you must not proceed with the 2016 mid-October update.

All the turrets and hulls in Tanki Online are perfectly balanced out between each other. I do not want any nerfing or buffing of any of the turrets in the game.

This re-balance update will cause balance problems if it proceeds.

Please cancel this update now.

Thank you.

One little typo...

While I don’t completely agree with Riddler, I definitely don’t think shutting down his thread was appropriate. It was pretty clear to me reading that he meant 2017.

Riddler, like I, suspects that we are due for a major unannounced update. Striker and Magnum have both been in the game long enough for their behavior to be understood by the designers. Thus it is time for tweaks. Hazel has also said publicly that he believes Firebird needs a tweak. IMO Smoky could use a tweak too. Moreover the balance between turrets in no-supply vs Standard battles could use attention.

But I digress. We’re due for a change and now is about time. Riddler is within his rights to be expressing concern, and I don’t see the harm in opening debate.

If you think a moderator's action was incorrect, you should contact them or their administrator via PM instead of creating a new topic. What you did is actually called necroposting and is against the rules.

As for Riddler's thread - it clearly had nothing to do with any actual upcoming balance update. He simply came across an old topic and somehow mistook it for an upcoming balance update. There is no reason to speculate about any kind of changed if nothing has been announced. But if you want to discuss potential changes that could/should happen in the near future, you can do that in this topic.

Gunslinger - I know the lag hack is bad right now.

And I have to disagree with you on some of your points. And people can laugh at me if they want but it happens every day. It may not happen to you but it happens to me.

I will have 50 twins protection and m4 Viking/ m4 flamer. Now as far as I know it goes no higher than m4?

I run into a twins with ZERO fire protection. There is no number above his tank showing protection. OK he has m4/m4 I have m4/m4.

I have 50 protection from him he has zero protection from me. He kills me. I just want to know how he does that if he is not cheating.

That is all I want, someone tell me how I am holding m4 fire right on him and he kills me. That should not be possible and IF IT IS it is tanki that is the cheater.

I honestly don't know what to tell you, Golfinray. While things like lag switches can have a minute difference in gameplay, due to most of the in-game actions being circuited server-side and therefore preventing more extreme hacks such as infinite HP or infinite "phantom mode" (The phase during respawn where your tank is completely invincible and can be driven through), most of the time, bizarre in-game phenomena can be dumbed down to lag between client and server and lag between players.

The short of it is that a player who lives in NA for example, will have a much harder time hitting a player from Eastern Europe, but the player from Eastern Europe will a slightly easier time hitting the NA player. This creates inconsistencies in the game's processing of what was a "legal" hit and a "miss". Railgun's tracer is a perfect example to show delay. If you've ever seen a Railgun tracer "penetrate" a wall or ramp prop, this is caused by lag on the server and between players. What you may see on your screen isn't necessarily what the enemy player sees. He may be 15 meters away instead of 10. If that made any sense whatsoever that should help explain.

Basically, like I said, there's no "damage" or HP hacks. Just good ol' friendly neighbourhood lag.

Watch for magnum nerf when matchmaking system comes out.

If they had intentions to nerf it, it would've been done already. Magnum has been out for quite some time. This or they're holding back the nerf so more people can get their hands on the turret hoping to exploit it.
