Is responding to questions with + and - unique to Tanki?

As you're all surely aware, TO players often use + to respond "yes" to a question, and - to respond "no" to a question. My question is, is this bit of lingo unique to Tanki, or do you see it used anywhere else in the online world? For my part, I've only seen it in Tanki.

If it is indeed unique to Tanki, well, that's pretty awesome that we invented a piece of lingo! ^_^

LoL sometimes I use it in Messages and on Facebook. Often my friends and relatives ask me about meaning of + and - . But you know many Tankers also use the Russian laugh Axaxaxa and hhhhhhh in place of hahaha.xD

Its used on forums a lot, I believe it originated from  the 3 front pages of the internet yo. (Imgur, Reddit and 4chan)

Also, on Google+, to like something you '+1' it.
