See which servers have chat moderators

Recommended Posts

Chat moderators have already said that they prefer to stay anonymously on the server, because it is easier and more effective for them to operate anonymously. And you suggest something completely opposite of what they want.

But what I don't understand about this, is that if players know a moderator is in the chat, they (usually) won't violate. But if they think a mod isn't there, they violate. I may sound stupid, but when they violate, and use your own example here, maybe other players (specifically I mean young teens playing the game), maybe they shouldn't have to see some of the things said when a player violates. Makes no sense why they should remain anonymous (my opinion)

I'll be honest and say I don't know exactly what you are asking about, what the issue is. Going from this:

"Makes no sense why they should remain anonymous (my opinion)"

You feel people's infractions should be exposed in some way? I can tell you that will never happen. We take privacy very seriously and that includes being reprimanded for misbehavior. That kind of stuff is strictly between us and the offending player. :)

Some mods on the chat just go nuts.

They ban everything

This is not true. If you complain because you got banned for reason they can give you all the valid prove they have. Players violate the rules and moderators ban them. This is how it works. The more violators, the more bans. Stop saying things like "mods ban everyone" because they are simply not true.

What I meant, was if someone really wants to violate, they will do it whether a moderator is there or not. But anyone who doesn't know a moderator is there, will say something if they feel, but what I am getting at, is other players shouldn't have to see that language or such anyway, so if moderators were known to be in a server, I think there would be less people violating. Some say it's good if they hide, so people violate, but if a moderator is there, then it would cut down on violations, which should be good also. Hope I explained better I'm not good at explaining, really.

Ahh, okay I think I get it. You mean to say that you'd like the moderators to be more active watching in servers and in that way show people that we are around and watching?

If so, that's a really good observation, and one that we very much agree with. They encourage every moderator to actively watch, since we know from experience that it works just like you say: People are less inclined to break the rules when they know a moderator is around.

I also think that Chat Moderators do this pretty well. Most moderators will just work in servers like normal players would, and share their experiences. The trouble is that there's approximately 35 moderators on the servers and several thousand players at a time. It is just physically impossible for Chat Moderators to work in every server, or even in most servers. So, while we agree that in an ideal world we'd have a moderator work in every server it's just not feasible to do so.

That is why we have the Chat Violations section. Players can alert Chat Moderators to trouble that we might not see, and allows them to react to things. So, helpful as your suggestion is, what helps us most is just using the Chat Violations section when you see bad words and letting Chat Mods handle it from there.

Thanks for your advice.

When moderators are working on the servers, they prefer to be anonymous. If you then have a complaint about a moderator banning (this means it's a chat mod) you can contact a chat admin and they will sort out any issue.

Had issue with chat mod

reported to chat mod admin

chat mod admin: "oh he was probably tired."

^_^  wow it makes sense why he didnt ban/escalate an offender!

I answer dozens of pm's every day, sorry but I cannot remember each and every one of them.

Well you're just gonna have to take my word for it then. cause the excuse you gave was exactly as I said.

Hope you mean honest ones.

Yes yes, also, voluntary ones.

I would like to suggest tanki an option in game to see how many moderators are online and on which server they are....So it will be easy for players to get help from moderator. That's all..Hope my suggestion was usefull....

Updated:

In some cases it is usefull and .......In addition...this option shall be available for players when they reach   because that's when they unlock chat.

Updated:

I would like to suggest one more thing that this option shall be available to only those players who have clear karma (Clear ban history) means that you are never banned before.

Under review

[vltr] [tlk]

Might not be possible with the way moderation currently works. Or developers intentionally didn't implement this to prevent mods getting swarmed with players from all other servers. Although I definitely like the idea.

P.S. Please make sure your title always relates to the topic. No need for "cliffhanger" titles just to get people to see your topic.

Its updated... please check it again

if players knew that there is moderator so he/she will not break any rules and in this way game violations will be reduced

Or they will instead increase, because players will know which servers have no mods so they can go there and violate rules without risk of getting banned right away. You considered that?

i think moderators should get an option of "Offline" and it will just wont show them on the online mods list

Yeah that's an option.

To be honest, I suggested a similar feature a while back. I wanted a much simpler, manual system to be added where in some place on the main page there would be a table which moderators would be able to edit manually. So when they go online, they select their nickname, select a server and any player checking that table would be able to see which mod is on which server.

But an automatic system will take a long time to develop and at the moment there are much more important features and updates awaiting their turn to be implemented, while this idea isn't really necessary because mods always have enough stuff to deal with anyway.

Well i have moderator in friends. he helps with hackers when i see them.

He was online as *Hes real nickname* and didnt showed up as battle mod. Later when i saw hacker i saw that only battle mod is online. (Hacker got block) How i know that both of them are under 1 user?

I saw friend request by many users but accepted ONLY Battle_Mod_** and then another user apeared in my friend list as "NEW" and when i typed in chat who is he, he had silver icon.
