Name Maker System

  1. 1. Do you want to be able to use specail characters in your nickname?

    • Yes, this would add more dynamics to name creation and add more diversity to names

    • No, this is a horrible idea

    • This could potentially be good, but i'd never use it

Hello, I was trying to make a new account on tanki yesterday (its always fun to start another one) and wanted my username to be [___] but i cant use any of the specail symbols ( !@#$%^&*()|\/?><.,' ":;{[}] and others) when creating a name, i think it would be amazing and cule if we could have the ability to use specail characters in names in tanki online or tank X. i imagine this would add another thing about tanki that stands out from other games.

Your truly,

Nineawe

A problem might arise if someone wanted to comment about a player who had an overly complex name.  Imagine complaining about a MULT but you could not remember his name, exept that it had a lot squiggles and asterix in it!

This makes the naming system unnecessarily complex. You may or may not have noticed, but pretty much all online services only allow the following symbols in usernames: dot ( . ), underscore ( _ ) and hyphen ( - ).

I don't actually know what makes these three symbols so special, but they are probably more compatible with the username database, making them possible to use. Other symbols require a complete remake of the system and it won't even do any good for the game.

I'll give you my honest advice: adding various symbols to your nickname does not make it special. A truly interesting and memorable nickname is short and has no symbols or numbers, because when you start adding symbols it just shows that the nickname you came up with was taken and you lacked the originality to come up with a new one.

Idea invalid. Closed.
