My idea here is that players should have a place where others can view reputations about a player. This can help inexperienced players find the right people to talk to. This might be a complex update though.

I guess this will tie into the likes system for the posts also. Players can add or take away reputation on someone's profile based on how good their posts are, and give a reason why, although that is basically commenting on someone's profile. This will probably take a lot more work for moderators though since they have to make sure that people don't abuse the system.

We did flirt with that idea a while back but it didn't last more than a week.  Problem was abuse of the system.  I too would honestly really love to have such a feature, not just on forum, but also in the game chats.

 

Leaving it in hands of the gaming population at large is definitely a minefield.  

 

On the other side, we thought why not activate it for mods and helpers and let them do the rating on forumers and players, but that would only serve to add to the controversy and that too could be abused or misused.

 

So if anyone has any suggestions on how we can implement such a thing without it being abused by various parties, then please do post them here.  We're all ears.

Can you explain the abuse in the previous trials? 

 

I was thinking it could be based on several things. 

 

-Ban history, even temp. bans for floods, that could tell someone you are eiter mouthy or you repeat urself a lot

 

-Exp. This is a must as your rank shows your battle experience,

 

-How many helpfiul posts have you had? - Link a rating system that in return gives so much rep. points based on helpful replies, like tips or things that were honsestly helpful. 

 

-Limit 100 Rep. to be given from a player to another player per day. So I can only give x people rep. This reduces abuse or favorites, and actual rep. 

 

-Do NOT allow purchase of or awards through missions. It should be very democratic, in a sense that people give you rep when you earn it. 

 

-Give x amount rep per rank (sadly this may not work due to age of the game) Let's say 500 for rookie then intervals like crystal rewards. 

 

-Make it where you can loose rep.  Mouthy? Spammer? Get banned? That'll cost ya some rep.  Let's say 5% of your total rep. 

 

-Rep Ranks- Min rank is Rookie or new player, then intermediate, advanced, and expert. Keep the rep ranks basic a like. Expert should require a lot more than the rest, and with the +/- system they may fall back. 

 

That is my input on this idea, and I also wanna +1 it as well.

One EDIT: I forgot, you can only give rep to one person per item, e.g a helpful reply, once you give rep once to that reply no more to that specific reply/topic.

There are two outcomes that I forsee that might be bad. First, you don't want a system where everyone is fighting for approval. This just adds stress to posting.

 

Second, the opposite is that you might have ppl that dislike you simply because of a story told by someone else, or one situation in which you either spoke badly or had little control over the outcome, and therefore will have those who add as many dislikes as possible. An example of this is our real life world. A lot of ppl here, including in my clan, live in places/countries which are told to mistrust each other whether we have actually met each other or not
