It’s time to shed some light on yesterday’s extended server downtime, what caused it, how it affected the game and its users, and what we intend to do about it.

 

The sequence of events

 

How our valiant programmers faced overwhelming odds to defeat «Tankopocalypse» (stress makes you terribly creative)

 

In a nutshell, here’s what happened:

 

• In 2012, a «dormant» bug popped up inside the server code. However, the chances of it actually surfacing were extremely minimal.

• Over the next few years, with every reboot, this bug was trying to surface, until…

• On Monday morning, July 11th, 2016, the bug finally made its appearance and became a really big problem.

• All users who tried to join RU1 and RU2 between 02:00 UTC and 05:00 UTC were affected.

• With every user it affected, the bug grew stronger, virtually «eating up» Pro Battle Passes, Premium Time and Double Crystal Cards on every cluster it touched (it didn’t grow any teeth though… that would’ve been disturbing).

• At 05:00 UTC, programmers shut down the servers and set out on a quest to locate the virtual lair of this nasty bug, codenamed «Tankopocalypse».

• After a marathon 13 hours of work, our programmers managed to corner the bug and crush it into oblivion

 

So, what now?

 

1. Our programmers should have already returned any Pro Battle Passes, Premium Time, Double Crystal Cards, or anything else that went missing as a result of the bug. But if you find you’re still missing something from your account, please contact customer support on help@tankionline.com.

2. If you come across a glitch, error or bug (that does not involve what is mentioned in the previous point), please report it in the official Problems and Solutions thread here.

 

Aaaand?

 

We appreciate how frustrating the whole event must have been for you. And we’re really thankful for the overwhelming support you showed us in the forums and social media.

 

So, we’d like to make it up to you with the following:

 

• From today till Sunday 17th July, all users will be receiving a Double Crystal Card… every day. (Note: You can only have one DCC at any one time).

• From Thursday 14th July till Sunday 17th July, all users will receive an additional day of Premium Account Time every day.

Additionally, we’ll be collecting feedback from all affected users, as well as monitoring the situation closely, to make 100% sure everything has gone back to normal.

 

Now, a bit of a bitter pill. Unfortunately, we are unable to recover broken mission chains. We’re genuinely sorry to disappoint you on this matter, but we’ve explored all possibilities, and there really is no way for us to restore the original progress.

 

Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience and frustration caused by this situation, and we thank you for your patience and support. We truly appreciate it.

ok now what  ... as of today the premium paint will still be in the garage but not the protection...

No. Premium was never meant to have protection, so the 15% will be removed from it forever. It will be just a normal paint that you can combine with the normal modules.

 

Other special paints will love their protections too, but devs say that special "Universal modules" might be added for them later. Not for Premium though.

Cedric the lag issues have really increased a lot after the Tankopocalypse. before the stated incident only one or the other wud encounter lag issues in a game but now all the players in the map r having the same issues n suddenly u get kicked out saying 'server connection closed'. n this hasn't happened once but several times. i tried playing with my friends too wen i came to know tht evryone were receiving the same message of 'server connection closed' n were getting kicked out.

If you had good programmers they wouldn't have to work so hard.

I understand your frustration over server issues and cheaters/mults, but you have said many, many times before. If you want to complain about Tanki you can do so in Game Disscussion. There is not much point in being rude to moderaters, administrators, developers, and Cedric :P, in my opinion they do thier jobs well and work hard.

you should not care about double crystal cards because most the time your pament dosent reach them any way so why bother even trying to get crystals and double points in battles can get  you to level up fast especially in pro battles in pro battles each kill if your a member you can get 20 point so 5 kills can get you 100 points and i mean come on don't spend every penny on a game you should make a living get a job make a family but if you spend every penny on a game if you do soon you will be poor but i don't want anyone to be poor so please don't spend every penny on a game be happy have fun but don't spend every penny on a game.thx

I'm eating popcorn and i was thinking how much things and accident's there are in life but tanki's accident's are big what they do is sit around and try to fix it by programing and ohh this is what they exactly said: "programmers were able to corner the bug and crush it into oblivion". what?that is not telling us what actually happened when they were working on the bug I bet they do not even know that you can do do code word's in the chat you can do #rules witch leads you to the tanki rules and /addcry 1000 gets you one thousand crystals. But the accident i made in life was knowing that tanki can be sometimes i'm not saying always not so friendly i mean if you take a look at chat carefully people say really bad stuff i'm trying to point out that sometimes life is hard and tanki but im not saying anythings bad what you do in life it is just you make bad accident's and good accident's but tanki makes them both and so do we.  :excl:

You have been told to fix the lag, stop the cheating, and stop the mults and we have repeated ourselves over and over and we are tired of it, understand? Now you have jacked the prices on paints and protections in an effort to get more money and it is horrible. You have been told that by hundreds of people and we don't want to repeat ourselves, understand?

Do you know that you are speaking to an Admin, not to a Dev? If so, please reconsider your post carefully.

Admins, like all Helpers and users, suffer lags and issues, everyone on the same level — the only ones able to resolve such issues are Devs, and we keep on pushing feedbacks to them, we can't do more.

Now that the paint separation update is in place, Tanki Online is slow, having glitches such as battle creation problems and unexpected crash errors. Please fix those bugs as soon as possible.
