Let's Discuss Protection Modules

Which protection module do you think will be most helpful at the highest levels?  I mostly play with hunter/railgun combo and mostly like large to medium sized maps, but also like capturing plenty of flags and helping capture plenty of control points, etc.

Twins/Thunder/Railgun)

 

Twins becomes a problem (and a trolling turret) at M2 and higher. Thunder can dish out big chunks of damage with splash alone. It only appears nerfed because mostly everyone has some sort of Thunder protection. M4 Railguns appear more often than not - and almost always with DD.

 

You cannot have everything, but these three are what I see as the more prevalent turrets at higher levels.

You like capturing flags on M-L maps but your go-to combo is Hunter/Rail?  Seems a little slow for that, but hey - play what you have fun with.

 

Probably first module then to M3 would be long-range, as enemies will have time to snipe at you coming & going - especially as Hunter is not all that speedy.

 

Shaft/Rail/Thunder (old prodigy) is standard long-range.  But Magnum has changed things up.  Would be good to have Magnum soon as well since it is good at targeting static tanks sitting there capturing CPs.

I like spending about 1/2 of my time shooting targets from far, and the other half moving.  I enjoy camping sometimes, but definitely would not consider myself a "camper."  I love railgun, especially with the alt.  thanks for your advice.

Can there be an update were you can put what ever 3 weapons on a module as you like. But make it cost 10000 crystals or something.

It's happening, but 10000 crystals not needed, watch tanki online v-logs

i don't understand this rubbish.

I never ever see any smokys other than me in battles

yet for some reason everyone still uses smoky protection!? what the hell

Maybe because 100% of the player garages have Smoky?

Even then. What's the next turret everyone gets? Rail "look-at-me-I-am-so-pro" gun? That's two slots for the module. And, I guess due to current events, Freeze will take up the last slot. Nothing you can do about Shaft on DD or sloppy splashes from Magnum.

oh right freeze protection :( one of the few modules i don't have and can't buy cause of my rank.. just bought isida but now they made freese equal dps to isida but longer damage time and shorter reload wth

Don't know what to do with my modules. Right now I've got 6 M2 modules upgraded 5/10. I can't upgrade any of these to 10/10 before hitting Marshal rank, as I'm only 70k away from this rank. Buying each of them M3 is very expensive, even during discounts. So I'm a bit stuck.

Modules need a gigantic nerf; they're game-breaking and destroy balance. I'm seeing a lot of complaints about the brokenness of M3 and M4 modules and they are valid. 

 

Like a 50% protection nerf or something.

Protection modules are a good way of weeding out OPness, but 50% makes some turrets invalid. Right now, if you play Rail or Fire...rip your ability to deal damage since everyone will always have those on even if noone is using them. If protection maxed out at 35%, they would be helpful but not make turrets useless.

 

Also, 250k is a ton for an m3

This. However I think even 35% is enough to render weapons totally useless. I was thinking something like 20-25% max.

I have badger m2 (freeze) m2 to 33 if I upgrade up to 35 can buy m3 with 0 crystals?

Yes - if you upgrade badger m2 fully, when m3 becomes unlocked you can "buy" it for 0 crystals.  Then start upgrading m3.

But only if you haven't reached the rank m3 unlocks. As he is legend, he won't get the m3 for free after mu m2 10/10. He has to buy the m3 in stead.

According the wiki:

 

Attention! You can only get the next modification for free if you have not yet reached the unlock rank of the modification after it. If you micro-upgrade an M0 turret to 10/10 steps when your rank already allows you to buy M2, you will NOT be able to get the M2 upgrade for free. Be careful not to waste crystals.
