Damn, you're really walking around without Railgun protection for so long? 

 

Make Railgun protection a priority. And then go from there. Vulcan isn't as common as the others. So it would be between Gauss and Firebird. Whichever one you think will benefit you the most with the hull you play with the most.

my allotted budget for modules is not more than 100k crys... so pls suggest the best kinds that i will need in future too..!

So at that rank, you'll only be able to buy M2 protection modules, which are 50K each. I would recommend Owl and Falcon - being the turrets that are spammed into oblivion, even a 25% module can help you out a bit, although I would definitely recommend upgrades as you start to go up. Vulcan is not used much, so you can ignore that, while Firebird...is complicated. Fox requires a lot of upgrades before you'll start to feel its usefulness, which is a huge turn off for me. Even at 40%, it doesn't feel like anything to write home about. The afterburn is what'll get you most, even against CT users, so I would say don't get this module unless you're willing to upgrade it to the full 50.

I have Rail + Thunder + Owl as default protection on all of my accounts (also have Fire, Smoky, and Rico, but never used). Only 18% at M1 because I'll never MU them before unlock rank, but probably 30% for the M2s after this sale.

 

Was thinking about swapping one of those defaults for Hammer (at M2) because they seem to be everywhere at the moment, especially in CP (obviously), but which one? Thunder?

I would swap out Grizzly/Thunder, because of the Thunder nerf and Rail and Gauss are just SO common.

The most common protection Modules that I see players use in the Legend ranks are Rail, Magnum, Thunder and Ricochet. That's probably the same case for most ranks, amirite?

Don't see much Magnum protection in the lower ranks. It isn't as threatening as it is in the higher ranks. Its clean reload speed parameter takes a huge dip from M0 to M4.

With Heat Resistance you can pretty much fire forever with Vulcan. It's the new Twins.

So basically, what turrets are you getting annoyed the most. Basically what I am seeing in your profile, I think Falcon, Grizzly and Owl will help benefit the most.

I'd upgrade the railgun module as far as possible or until you have to save your crystals for something else.

 

And that's because railgun is the most commonly used turret in the game.
