Chat translator

I agree with this idea. Translators will help us make more friends. I really enjoy chatting in tanki. However, I hope the translator won't be like google translate. It should translate to sentences that make sense  :D

It is impossible for it to not be like Google translate. Google translate is one of the best translators that there is (but that doesn't mean it is good)!

No, no no no no. We dont need a translator, it would take too much time to translate things, and it wouldnt even be that accurate. This would be a huge amount of work for the devs, and for what? Now russians can swear at their team in english.

But swear words are beeped out like this "****". So if they swear, they swear. Nobody knows what they are saying.

I'm really happy that you remembered my post which was 4 months old. Thanks xD

I have been playing this game for a few years now and I noticed a decline in English speakers so it changed the game for me since I cannot communicate with my team I was wondering if there is anyway that Tanki could implement some sort of translator or maybe preset words so we can at least have some sort of dialog.

Thanks Capitaldee

It was suggested some time ago to have a point-and-click in-game menu with simple keywords used in battle, similar to what @BlackWasp777 was saying.

I used to play a MMO with that type of battle communication. You clicked on the word written in your own chosen language and the team would see the command in their own chosen language.

Since there are 2 main languages Russian and English (that's what i think) there can be an In-game translator that can translate proper words to the language you know like for example you play 2v2 your teammate is Russian (now that's a problem) he is saying something it can be auto-translated to English and when you write in English its translated in Russian though everybody else can see it in the original if they are English users

Great idea

I've been wondering what people have been saying behind strange languages

انظروا الي لغتك؛ أن الانغليزيه هو غريب جدا!

Look at your language; English is indeed very strange.

There used to be a software, that runs in the background. When you point your mouse of a word and click the software's hotkey, it "reads" this word and translates it.

And by writing "it reads this word", I really mean it -> it takes something like a mini-screenshot around the mouse pointer, runs a character recognition, and then translates it to your destination language.

Of course this works only with "normal words", and not with acronyms like "gg, wp", or "plz lev".. but it works for normal, written language.

This software is called babylon.. but the last time I used it was quite some while ago.

I have no idea if it is still free, and if it still works like this. A quick check on their homepage told me they have over 1700 dictionaries/libraries and that the download is free. On the other hand it sounds to me like they like to charge later on :P

When the Devs merged the servers, they knew exactly what would happen and they didn't seem to care. So, what makes you think they care now? It's a Russian based game and everyone needs to learn Russian. Get the point? I'm American, born and raised. I'll be darned if I'm going to learn Russian just to please them. Japanese couldn't make us speak Japanese and the Germans couldn't make us speak German.

If the Devs wanted the non-Russian speaking Community to communicate in battle, they would have implemented a translator before the merger. They didn't do that then and they won't do it now. If I'm in battle and the Russians have a battle plan going, then they need to tell me that. If they don't then I'm off doing my own thing. I have battle plans, too, but do you think they would listen to me? You can bet your booty they won't. Why? Because I speak English and they won't listen to me any more than I'll listen to them.

That's what the Devs wanted, so that's what the Devs got. All they want from the non-Russian speaking Community is their money. Everything else can go to Hades.

HEY, nemeanlion here

im proposing the idea of keeping a translate option in the global and the battle chat as when playera from the russian community and players from the english community type in their own respective languages, the players dont seem to understand each other and leads to misunderstanding which can break close bonds between two tankers. You select your language to translate to in your accounr settibg tab. The translating should be done manually though, when yoy click on the text, there should be a drop down list containg the option to translate. Please consider this and farewell!!!

so, basically, you are asking a non famous game with theire medium to low budget to make a translator BETTER than google translator owned by google that have hundreds of billions of dollars as a capital ?

They can make translations for common russian statements such as: hi, what should i buy, where are you from, please leave the battle. etc

There are good websites that make translations with common sense in it and these sites are not famous :D . It is just that google doesn't really care about translations.

And I don't think that making a translator will cost billions of dollars xD
