Let's Discuss Augments

Well the thing that devs told was alterations wasn't going to change game play a lot but here the alteration is really OP. I think they should nerf it. (they nerfed my favourite Vulcan when it got OP and also nerfed the Fire M2 alteration). They even told in VLOG that "changes in balance will be small but more frequent"

So I agree with Mango(kk @Epic_Space_Mango18.

Weeeellllll if you get lucky enough you'll get 2,240 damage in a shot then it's a 6 second wait to shoot again.

Hammer M4 takes 1.9 seconds in between shot reloads to do 1,017 damage. In 5.7 seconds it can do over 3,000 damage

Isn't that 2 re-loads to do 3,000? First shot already in pipe = no re-load.  Then two re-loads after firing. = 3.8 seconds.

Does anyone know if the shaft alteration for arcade shots makes the shaft use more of the energy bar per arcade shot or it uses the same amount of energy but takes longer to reload?

Are isida's alterations worth buying? I mean is the difference big enough to be worth spending crystals on them...

The current alterations bring it nowhere near what Isida used to be.

No. In fact I would go so far as to say they actually impede your performance. Stick with the stock version and cross your fingers for a buff. That's all I can say. ;)

I bought the Assault Emitters alteration yesterday and I can confirm that it uses more of the energy bar per arcade shot. I would highly recommend this alteration to any shafter. It works well for campers or aggressive shafters. The higher damage per shot allows you to peek-a-boom with arcade shots more effectively and steal kills in dm as well. In team battles it definitely helps anyone go around arcading everyone on the enemy team as well.

I thought rail had become really weak there for a while. I killed them easily with any of my turrets. The alteration has helped them quite a bit. I am interested in the armor piercing ammo for thunder. Has anyone tried it? I ruled with thunder up until early 2015 when they nerfed the heck out of it. I have almost quit using it and I have full M4. Maybe with the armor piercing it might be usable again.

Thunder actually sucks without the splash damage. The Armor-piercing alteration just makes it a fat Smoky.

I just broke down and bought firebird alteration (bigger pump) and it is awesomely OP and I bought the armor piercing. I wish I had NOT bought the armor piercing for the thunder. You are right it is a fat smoky only not quite as good. Tanki needs to do something to make thunder great again and that was not it. The other alteration for thunder is no good either. DEVS surely you can find something to help the thunder and make it awesome again!

Yeah it is!!!!

The M2 Alteration sacrifices a small amount of damage for a buff in the reload (On an M4 this buff is seriously good compared to what you lose)

The M1 alteration is designed for short range combat compared to the normal mid range combat Thunder users engage in.

You could have read the two reviews by  SulfuricAcid and Thekillerpenguin

and decided whether it would have been useful

Believe me, it's not.

Has anyone bought or rented turret alterations?  What was your experience like?

I tried the plasma-core-accelerators for twins.  I think it's pretty good but I'm not sure if I want it permanently yet.

1) Read the original topic post  ;)

2) Yes, Twins is one of the best alterations in the game. I rarely demount it (i.e. when I play in really small maps like arena or so) and I have it equipped most of the time, because in most situations it gives your turret a better performance, especially in mid-sized maps like Rio, because you have a better range and you can aim a lot better.

In my opinion the current best alterations are the ones for Hammer, Twins, Ricochet and Firebird. The worst ones are probably Smoky and Vulcan. Twins alt is definitely worth buying.

Don't forget shaft's close range alteration.

I actually use hammer in my account, but as hammer is only close range (all pellets spread out and cause no damage without any alternations), smoky causes a lot more damage in long to mid range battles.

So I decided to use smoky with my other account starting with a lower rank, and it got me a lot of exp than I have expected.

But after the update (game balance), smoky only has 20% chance of critical damage, which is a bad update, but in long ranges, critical shots land on enemies without being reduced. (ex. suppose your critical damage is 200. if you shoot a tank from far away, your smoky causes less damage, but critical damages land on a tank as 200.) I think that's a benefit since smoky wouldn't be able to play if you can't get close to an enemy who has a long range gun such as railgun.

As you might know, there are alternations in smoky after modifications starting from m1 to m3.

M1: Assault ammunition-> no critical hits and 30% impact force added to your smoky.

M2: Precision Targeting System-> Minimum damage increased by 50%, Maximum damage increased by 20%, critical        hit damage increased by 20%, and reloading slowed down by 40%.

Alternations on smoky compared to other turrets... is not that bad if you are good at making others miss or maneuvering without getting damage from others. This means that you may need a fast hull, or stand against their hits until you get time to reload.

After the game balance, a lot of my close players have agreed that smoky is the best choice that they ever made.I guess all maps in tanki online are suit for smoky. I can almost say that this is why developers put rookies (new-comers) into smoky and hunter combo.

That's it for me. Please comment.

Smoky before couple of updates was an epic turret, but almost nobody used it. Now I see that a lot of players have started to use Smoky/Wasp combo a lot, which asks kind a lot of expiernce. In previous account like year ago got deleted by me. I used there Smoky/Wasp almost 100% of gameplay. Until Colonel that combo is basicly a beast. After Colonel it asks a lot of expierence and skills. Have to be sneaky and very fast. Hit&run principe. Until Colonel it is like little sneaky fly with bigass rapid-shooting gun. After Colonel that combo is mostly for beeing annoiying mosquito, who likes to mess games for others by not dealing a lot of damage, but beeing pain in the ass cause of its mobility, fireratio, which has big enough impact force to knock-back other shots (except vulcan and -----> striker <----- I guess ). Yeah, I enjoied that combo. After update it kinda got nerfed, cause critical damage doesnt change by modifications. Meh.
