Disable/Limit MU's before the rank the equipments unlocks

Recommended Posts

:D

Yeah, I read about that in the history book ;)

Fire that toasts, Ranks to be bought, and all tell me, it was a looooot of fun :)

It not a problem when you unlock them.. its more of a problem of simmilar access to it ;)

  • If nonbuyers can have 2x M3 combos, while buyers can have 5.. it's ok. They can only use one at a time :)
  • If nonbuyers can have 1x M1 combo, while buyers can have a full M2, MU'd to M3.. then we have a problem.
Oh.. thats how it is today :p

The earliest you can get an M2 is WO2 by getting the Siberian kit and at those low ranks, you either have to pay a lot or buy to get it and if you're a buyer, you're obviously going to micro upgrade it fully, meaning you'll have an M3 Freeze at WO2! I know buyers can get ahead by getting all this high up equipment but an M3 that low is just insane.

Anyway, my idea is that when somebody purchases a product kit, the micro upgrades will be locked until they reach the actual rank in which an item unlocks. For instance, If I bought Siberian I wouldn't be able to micro upgrade my Freeze M2 until WO5.

At WO2 people are mostly still using M0 equipment and switching to M1 so to have an M3 at that rank is too much.

Good question. I guess Generalissimos can have all the M3 MUs unlocked at once, since there's no more ranks at that point and "newbie" Generalissimos with 1.4 million points end up playing against generalissimos, who have been at the final rank for years and have M4 garages anyway. So adding any sort of limit on MUs won't make a difference in balance.

Now we have Legends :3

You forgot to mention that apart from having a Freeze M2+ (M3) and a Titan M1+ (M2), they also like to drug a lot. Then that Freeze M2+ with DD will be like an M5 and the Titan M1+ with DA will almost have 6000hp. And there's a Repair Kit if they ever are low on health.

+1

This needs to go in. ASAP.

EDIT: If this topic gets merged with another ideas topic, and I am unaware of the transition, all of what I've said above stands nullified in relation to the merged content.

Well, in terms of rank limits, there is only one new rank. But I suppose it would make sense to have no MUs at all at generalissimo rank and unlock them all at once on legend.

*Grandpa voice*

"You know sonny, back in my day M3s were unlocked at Warrant Officer 5 at latest."

*Great Grandfather voice*

"Thats very interesting, back in my day, you started unlocking M3's at Staff Sergeant, and could have a whole M3 garage by Second Lieutenant."

I agree. Sometimes I see m1s that are 0/10 being crushed by m3 (fully upgraded m2s + alteration) druggers, which is definitely not fair. Some people can't afford to spend money on this game, which is perfectly fine. Hopefully this can resolve that. How about even a limit to how many supplies a player can utilize per battle?

My idea is that when when someone buys a kit, the microupgrades for the equipment in that kit should be locked and only opened when the player reaches the rank at which the turret/hull/module unlocks.

When a person buys a kit he already has an advantage over other players but to allow them get m3 level power rightaway when others cannot even get m2 is plain ...you decide.
For example,if a player buys Northerner kit available at captain, he will not be able to MU smoky m2/ dolphin m2 until he reaches colonel rank and viking m2 until he reaches lieutenant colonel rank.

The presence of fully MU'ed m2 combos at lower ranks heavily disturbs game balance. There are better ways to make money.
This suggestion is to prevent OP combos at lower ranks and improve game balance.

My suggestion is to simply lock microupgrades on equipment acquired through kits and only unlock them when the player reaches the unlock rank of the turret/hull/module.
For example, if a players buys northerner kit , he shouldn't be able to MU smoky m2/dolphin m2 until he reaches colonel and viking m2 until he reaches lieutenant colonel rank.
This is to restore some semblance of balance to battles and prevent people fully MU'ing kits thereby dominating battles with M3 vs M1 situations.

Under review

unfortunately the reason why kits and microupgrades exist, is only to sell power -> to sell (temporary) domination (temporary as the others catch up. But yes.. it's a long time until they do). But maybe you're lucky and they at least slow down the amount of MUs that you can apply to your gear depending on your rank.

The good thing about matchmaking, is that stronger players are supposed to be matched with stronger enemies. It is far from perfect today.. but I playing low ranked alts of mine I see that I often get matched to stronger enemies. Maybe, one day, it will work better and solve that issue ;)

if the whole point is to sell power, then how about make it such that you have to pay 50x the price if you want to start MUing stuff that you shouldn't have gotten for your rank?

I think that this would make sense as if you were to MU earlier then you would get a bigger advantage as compared to only start MUing it when you are at the rank where you can buy it. This would severly limit the amount of master corporals with m2 smoky and m2 titans

also, make it such that sales don't apply to MUs for stuff you haven't unlocked but got through a kit

Like having the speedup-costs increased if you are under-ranked? -> Sounds like a plan to me :)

not just the speed up... the whole cost to MU...

for example i am general and if i want to MU my m3 magnum they should cost me 50x the price to upgrade as well as speed up... also MU sales won't apply to me

all this until I reach marshal when i unlock it in the garage the prices will go back to normal :)

Wut?

And I think there was already a idea like this

Oh... yes, you are right - I merged it accordingly

I only remembered this one Unlock x MUs per rank (similar but not the same).

Funny thing is, that the idea you pointed mye to, was actually started by myself - but I completely forgot it..
