Improve Death Effects

This is an idea I have had for a long time that might make Tanki much more enjoyable..

What if there were death effects for a kill?  For example, if your railgun shot will destroy someone, and ONLY if the shot will destroy them, then the impact force is multiplied by 4.  So whenever a rail destroys someone, they go flipping back like 20 meters and it would look EPIC.  However, keep in mind these effects would only apply if you die from the shot, so it wouldn't effect normal gameplay.  These effects would be applied after the normal explosion of your tank.

 

My ideas:

 

Rail: 4x impact force on enemy tanks.

Thunder: Tank explodes into many pieces.

Freeze:  Turret falls off.. ;)

Firebird: "Dead body" is engulfed in flames and has smoke rising from it

Isida: The dead tank would go sparkly!!!  Like points of light would sparkle all over the dead tank.

Shaft:  The tank would break in two.

Hammer:  5x impact force

Vulcan:  Large Cracks would show in the hull.

Twins:  Crackle with green electricity, like smoky critical

Rico:  Hull would light up orange.

Smoky:  Nothing

 

I know this might cause laagggggg and stuff, but there will always be haters ;) lol.

Rather pointless feature and indeed, as you said, it will most likely cause FPS drops. A lot of things could be added to the game to make it more "epic", but unfortunately limitations of Flash game engine make most of these things extremely difficult or even impossible to implement. Tanki Online needs a ton of other, more important features to be added, so even though this is an interesting idea, it would be very low on the developers' priority list.

 

Most of these features might be (or even already have been) added to Tanki X. Turrets falling off, glowing cracks, dead tank engulfed in flames, etc. - all these effects already exist.

When a Battle Admin kicks a player from the battle, a lightning bolt from the sky should strike the offending tank before is disappears from the field.

How about simplifying it, and instead of just "kaisdf destroyed Mafioso" or "Kaisdf destroyed I_already_won", why not add some new, more interesting verbs? Like evaporated ("Kaisdf evaporated Mafioso"), or if you pushed someone off the edge, it could be "kaisdf demonstrated gravity to I_already_won"...

And I demonstrated the amazing move called "the kill" to Kaisdf. ;) .  What would freeze's be?  I_already_won "operation Uranus'ed*" Mafioso?  I still think it would be cooler to see someone go flying into the sky because they were killed by a hammer hit.

 

*Reference to battle of stalingrad in WW2 in which the germans forgot their winter equipment when they attacked.

Yea, and it could also say "Kaisdf has pushed his teammate I_already_won off the map" xD

I guess it have to be simple as it's a browser game.

Some ideas:

- Firebird makes tanks turn bright orange (glowing in the dark) and lit on fire, with a sound of sizzling, hot metal.

- Freeze makes tanks turn whitish blue, but not explode. Crackling sound of ice shattering can be heard.

- Isida makes tanks shut down with electric failure. Sparks fly out but no visible damage.

- A direct hit by Magnum makes tanks explode brightly, leaving no remains

- A Shaft hit lets out a sound like a powerful shockwave, and if it hits a tank the sound of liquidized hot metal splashing out is heard, and the remains are blackened, as if burned. Also, when a Shaft shoots over you, like a near miss, you should be able to hear it - it would be terrifying :)

edit: added more ideas.

- A tank destroyed by Railgun doesn't explode, it just stops dead in its tracks without any visible damage, and maybe the sound of sparking damaged elecronical circuits can be heard, togheter with maybe some sparks flying out of the tank. It would make sense since the thin laser beam wouldn't create a lot of visible damage.

- Striker makes tanks exploded with a larger explosion, the rockets carry more explosive filler.

- Thunder with a somewhat smaller explosion, it has some explosive filler but not as much.

- Smoky doesn't have any explosive filler, just solid metal shots, so instead of there being tiny explosions where it hits, there are only sparks as the metal-shells are ripped apart by hitting the tanks armor. The shot that finally kills the tank causes almost no sparks, as if it penetrated the armor rather than being demolished on its surface. Destroyed tanks doesn't explode or burn, just look a little bit beat up, with small shell holes and blackened colors all over.

- Ricoshet... I don't know but I would like the "beach ball" sound effect to be changed for sure, to something more cool sounding.

Completed

We didn't get different death effects for each turret, but critical shot kills now cause the turret to fly off. Fire effect on dead tanks will be coming soon too.
