One of the most unnoticed Patch Updates implemented; #445. This update was released on the night of March 2nd, 2017, and brought many changes for incoming tankers. Most of us ignored this significant release; but if you want to know more, stay tuned!

______________________________________________________________________________

Changes to MUs

Steps

The Micro-Upgrades for M0 changed drastically; the amount of steps were decreased from 50 to 10. This feature will envy newcomers to buy them. Instead of adding two or three points for damage per second per upgrading each step, now it will add around ten. It looks like a better deal and will encourage people to Micro-Upgrade their tank to m1 instead of buying the next modification directly.

Price

The aforementioned change enabled the price to be reduced. They divided the cost by two, so now without Speed-Ups, it equals the same amount of crystals that you need to pay for the next modification which is m1. I believe they have implemented those changes for newbies give them a better notion of how to spend crystals. This will encourage them to upgrade a weapon to M1, step by step. Micro-Upgrades can become money traps if not well managed. It seems like our tank is gaining strength, but it is only a small parameter change that is barely noticeable at each step. Especially for those at m0 level, players are new to the game and want to buy everything to experiment. Too often, they are running short on crystals pretty easily; this update should help them regulate their upgrading tendencies.

Speed Ups

The cost of Speed Ups have been modified as well; now they cost twice as much for each step on m0 equipment. This change goes along with balancing the prices. Hopefully, double costs will prevent people from buying those and wasting crystals at a very low rank. If you are too impatient and need to use Speed Ups at the m0 stage, then do not buy MUs. It will be cheaper to buy the next modification directly on a sale.

Effects on Gameplay

Gameplay will most likely change. Now people will be able to buy new, stronger parameters faster, creating more dynamic and diverse games. Players who bought 1/50 of MU on m0 turrets/hulls now have effectively 10/50; they are benefiting from this small change.

We have yet to see how it will affect the M0 equipment's power in battle. Statistics are unknown as to whether or not novice tankers are buying MUs or not. For the first five ranks, I do not recommend to buy Micro-Upgrades yet. Figure out which turrets and hulls you'd prefer to use first; then if the tank chosen is the one that you want to continue on, upgrade it with proper judgement.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

This review comes to a conclusion. I think this whole update had been implemented because Tanki was preparing for a big event, perhaps smoothing the new tankers experience as the game is being introduced on Steam. The release on this new platform will definitively attract new players. Thanks to Patch Update #445, people will start to attain a better understanding of Micro-Upgrades and teach proper crystal management.

This is a bit unfair. Before this update came about, I upgraded my Viking and Ricochet to 25/50. Then I directly bought Ricochet M1. My Viking was still 25/50 at M0 after this update was implemented. Then when I checked, my Viking was 5/10. I was like,"Okay, maybe they made it half". But no!

Even the hulls and turrets that I did 1/50 are 1/10 but my Viking  became 5/10 from 25/50 which I feel is unfair.

Err..

What's the issue? Am I missing something here?

25/50 = 1/2 of 50.

5/10 also = 1/2 of 10.

I don't see the problem.

I can totally understand your feelings, but only the turrets or hulls which were upgraded from 1 to 9 took a small advantage of this update.

For your Viking, I would recommend you to Micro-Upgrade it to M1 without using Speed Ups. It will come cheaper to MU it than buying it directly M1. If you can wait for a MU sale it could save you up, even more crystals.

And be careful with M1 upgrades! The system is entirely different.

The problem for him was 1/50 getting a 1/10 ratio, a small advantage for those who only bought one step. :P

Question: Is it now worth it to MU M0s to M1, instead of just buying the M1?

Yes, it is totally worth it especially during sales, you can get an M1 at a very low price now. With this new update, total step cost halved and equals to the cost of M1 modification of the item. If there is one tank that you really like to play on, Micro-Upgrade it to M1 because you can gain better performance on that equipment. But do not use Speed-Ups, they are just extra fees.

But be careful with M1 Micro-Upgrades; the system will be entirely different.

Like what would a 10/10 cost, with or without speed ups, what would each step cost and the stats, just the Micro Upgrades

page.

And thanks for replying.

If you Micro-Upgraded an M0 tank 10/10 without using Speed-Ups, it will cost you the same amount of crystals as buying an M1 modification.
