Actually in The Netherlands the police are very good. Due to political negligence we're short on officers, but we have almost no death-by-police rate and I lately saw a number that said "In the Netherlands police officers averagely draw their weapon once in 34 years" so that's good.

My view might be one-sided though, as I am actually planning on applying to become a police officer.

Here we'd be surprised if they didn't draw their weapons every 34 hours and they're corrupt beyond description.

Sadly enough the police are really good, but if they do anything wrong they will be followed and titled as the "wrong person" in The Netherlands

Article pretty much sums up everything. Contrary to popular belief, our police really aren't that effective - too many technicalities that must be observed, lots of lawbreakers getting away scot-free because of "human rights" and so forth, and so on. On the bright side though, they're pretty friendly.

I live in London which has it's own Metropolitan Police force, some carry tasers.

The SC&O19 division which handles anti-terror operations amongst other things carry MP5 submachine guns and Glock pistols.

There are also anti rioting police who usually carry non-leathal crowd control weapons.

There are some other smaller divisions. All the pictures are what I have seen personally around my home.

I am from spain, and there we have 3 types of police, there are the local police, who don't carry firearms and deal mainly with traffic offences and small crime, they also gather inteligence.

Then there are the national police, who do carry guns, and deal with larger crimes in big towns and cities. It includes special anti-riot units.

Then there are the guardia civil, who work between towns and are generally the ones who set up roadblocks, which is probably because they are actually not so much a part of the police force as a division of the military.

All of these types of police are generally very nice, I have never had a bad experience with teh police, and I was homeschooled, and if I went out into town during school hours they wouldn't even bat an eye, they would actually say hello to me as I went past.
