I am thinking of buying magnum over shaft m3, what do you say?

magnum is OP , shaft is not useless in m3 battles , but very limited . You'll see them in a few maps , most in Highway off course , but for the rest  you dont see a lot off them anymore . Shafts in m3 lvl are taken care off by magnums rails etc .... You can forget sniping at these lvls because people will search for you and they will find you .

You will be invincible behind cover.

Get the Magnum. Rain down shells at the enemy defense and you should get a steady stream of XP and kills.

Go for Shaft though if Isida trains keep stealing your flag, It's better putting down enemies one at a time but you'll need to expose yourself to do so.

I had the occasional battle with Magnum where I only aimed for individual flank-defenders just to get score. The Isida's in the base healed themselves and gained a lot of points because you can't often take them down at one blow.

Magnum is a decent/meh turret. I, 2 years ago, quit tanki and came back recently. This turret is not balanced with the maps,it does not belong in many maps if proper gameplay wants to be held. I personally will not take the time to learn how to use it properly but I get destroyed alot by it and that is a good quality (However the striker, at m0/m1 at least, is useless - I say that from the lack of getting destroyed by it, the only time I get damaged from them is from the single shots.) The magnum has a very fresh mechanics though it has taken the advantage shaft used to have, the element of surprise. I was very sad, very very sad, when they stuck that laser on the shaft. They should either remove thay dreadfull laser or add one to the magnum.

And if an opponent has Double Armor, for the magnum it takes at least 3 blows to destroy the tank even if you're using double damage. It just doesn't seem that powerful to me. You can keep shooting the opponent and if it has isida behind him, chances are, you will die first of course face to face but from the long distance, no matter how many shots you will land, the isida will heal that tank as it makes the shots useless.

Isida + your target = 2 tanks.

What happens if you have a 2nd magnum - both of you targeting the isida?

Why will you die first?  As a magnum you are behind a building/wall right?

I was talking about different situation, for example; magnum user goes for a flag and then meets an opponent with isida behind his back, the opponent might have twins or hammer, you will automatically die first because one; he might come near you as it will make you self-destruct from making damage to yourself. Second; he will finish you first by shooting at you even after you heal yourself, as you shoot back, the isida will heal him up, it makes you die first either way.

But if the magnum is behind the building, surely it won't die unless enemy magnum will land a lucky shot at you.

Sorry I didn't make my explanation clear before.

OK - I understand the situation better now.

As a (lone) flag-stealer you will be at a disadvantage versus 2 defenders of course.

In this case your best tactic is to grab-and-run.  Your goal is not to defeat the defenders - it is to get the flag as far away from the enemy base as possible.

And with no turret rotation Magnum is not necessarily best turret for grabbing flags - harder for you to hit and run than a turret that rotates.

I have seen pumped-up Magnums stealing flags - a lot -  but that is not the best utilization of the turret.

Magnum might not be good for hit and run but mounted on Wasp it becomes a great ambusher. Not to mention the crazy spots you can fire from with such a tiny hull.

Oh for sure.

Just under the circumstances described the "attacker" was at a disadvantage - not an optimal situation. Especially if outnumbered.

Yeah absolutely I agree with you.

Although, you may have to get a bit closer to enemy base to be able hit easier shots, depending on your decision as a magnum user, some may find it better to use it close/medium/long range.

During close range, more problems will occur of course because enemy will target you as magnum does enough damage to destroy tanks in 1 shot with DD, so they will want to get rid of you.

I personally dislike capping flags but I do get targeted most of the time if I use magnum. But I do understand your point of view.

Yeah if it sits safely behind the wall surrounded by mines, the only enemy would be another Magnum I suppose.

So you won't die... but you won't land any effective shots either when those damn Isida's heal everything in seconds.

They key to win battles is to use Isida anyway, multiple Isida's make one massive stronghold.

The fact that they can keep themselves alive- making HP from air- it's just asdfgasdgasdhgf...

-----

I get rammed by Hammers a lot too when I use the Swagnum, they really target you before other enemies. (after Isida that is)

Striker gets practically ignored especially when I mount it on Mammoth with a boring paint. As Magnum you're way better protected if you poop mines all over the hideout. In Barda, quite a few of the kills I get come from mines... I can safely sit back and press spacebar the entire battle.

I think the best hull for Fagnum is Wasp , as a attacker , cause if you use pee-a-boo -_-

tactics the enemy can not enemv see you and you can shoot from spaces where you can not with other hulls

It can also squeeze behind tight spaces and make really big lobbing shots uninterrupted. Not that a majority of Magnums do that.

Would've been awesome if it was mounted on sideways

Haha yeah, like naval artillery!

Edit:

Two 100% blowout battles,

one massive loss, one massive win; but the Magnum thrives whatsoever!
