Freeze gets nerfed, Firebird gets nerfed (or buffed depending on how you look at it), and yet Magnum remains the same gameplay killer that it always has been. When are the devs going to do something about this weapon?

IT is Balanced  <_<

I'm not a particularly avid Magnum user - it's haarrrd to master - but I can say that people just haven't learnt to adapt to it. The trail and sound of the shell are telltale signs that a Magnum shell is coming. And its not even as powerful as people say anyways. It's not the instant kill machine people make it out to be. Shaft is better for that. Except in maps with bases on different heights, like Noise...

One thing though - I've seen that it's pretty powerful at close range, almost more powerful than at long range behind cover. There should be something besides self damage to reduce its potency at close range. Maybe reduced health for your hull if it has Magnum mounted?

Who the heck is looking up at the sky while fighting a battle?

No one is saying it is instant kill.  it's the fact that...

- you can't hide from the shots as the game does not provide that kind of cover.

- the splash radius is too large

- Magnum can damage/kill without exposing itself to any danger at all

Magnum may not kill all flag defenders, but 1 or 2 of them can soften up defenders so much that incoming runners can quickly finish them off then steal the flag as they respawn.

And smart Magnum users will have a way to bypass defenders only defense - the Protection Modules. Slap Magnum on a hornet and wait for overDrive...

There is no defending this turret in a game that was not designed for Indirect Fire Weapons.

Nobody looks at the sky, of course, but in the battle it's not that hard to catch a glimpse of the shell, or hear it. And as for defenders, if they're not fighting attackers they're supposed to keep a look out for other enemies. Which includes the Magnum shell.

Okay, I think I'm not very good at figuring what people mean. But still, I stand by my point. I think people just haven't learnt to adapt. The shell may be able to bypass cover, but it's possible to escape it. Or hide in another cover. As for not exposing themselves to danger... I wonder if it'd be wise for one or two players on the team to exclusively come close and kill the enemy Magnum? Of course, mines exist. And Magnum is surprisingly good at close range combat. It shouldn't be.

You have nowhere near enough time to get out of the way of a shell without a light hull, and even then you can't tell where the shell is going to land until it's too close to make a difference. On maps like Year 2042 and Brest, it's a long detour just to kill the magnum over taking the objective and they just respawn back there anyway.

Seriously, try going through the middle when red has 2 magnums in the corner by the big wall, it's impossible. Magnum has completely ruined the map.

I'll sit safely behind a wall and plop the shells and when someone kills me, I'll just hit nitro and head over to the exact same camp spot and poop the place full of mines.

It works; the main skill comes from leading your targets when they're moving. You'll develop a feel for it over time. It helps when you know the map so you can guess which passages enemies take. I barely get one shot kills but it's taking enough health to make them press the medkit when they haven't even left out base yet! Hahaah they got a long way to go without that medkit; like as if that's going to get them anywhere with the flag.. yeah my job is done, and I got 15 XP score for the collab-kill.. all from a safe spot! neat-o.

Because a turret has a very slow reload it must be weak, turrets like shaft need to be able to one shot any hull at any time to make it balanced. Vulcan is very OP because it fires fast, it should take 20 seconds to kill a light hull because it is an easy turret.

I'm thinking that is an alt, but I can't decide on whose alt... <_<

Nice to know I helped someone!  ^_^

Don't even mention the one shot any time shaft. I love it, and even I'm scared of what'll happen.

Magnum's, probably. Makes sense, after all the devs haven't yet made alts for Striker or Magnum.

Magnum huh...

The turret sure is decent in every battle due to its supportive/devastating damage and angle based aiming that makes it unpredictable to tankers and destroys the formation of a team by a ton. So even the higher ups got the same problem.

Well for now we can still fight tankers as they are since such likes of OP magnum users (whose calculations are terribly accurate) didn't exist yet. In time that they soon will appear, TO will make drastic changes on this weapon like damage and alterations and other "balancing" stuff.

I'm pretty fortunate to prestige on TO. I hate those ledgers, those magnum isida campers are a terrible combo to fight head on. And If I fight against Dave in this state with his Magnum/Wasp combo, and his decency to "Tacticalize" his opponents in close quarters, I'm not sure if I can keep up anymore...
