Also if you shoot a light hull with a full power from a side you can flip it. But you need to be kinda close to it cause its hard to hit it in such away from further away.

There may be fewer Magnums in MM, but in PRO battles Magnums do ruin many battles.

Some shoot very accurately even at long distances.

Magnum was an awful idea.

ikr, i have seen so many noob m0s at MY RANK in pro battles, they camp in their base and literally shoot me RIGHT WHERE I AM, from like what? about the distance of full serpuhov map... so accurate that about 80% of my health is gone from 1 hit

even if i try to avoid the magnum's bullet (by estimating from the sound obviously) no matter how hard i try to avoid it, the BULLET WILL ALWAYS hit me, there is literally no way to avoid it, looks like these ppl are using some form of hack to make the magnum shell lock on to you

Ehhhhh, I wouldn't really call that hacking, then again, I wasn't in your situation.

There are many Magnums out there that have mastered the vertical aiming system. The first day it was released, I was absolute crud at trying to aim that thing but suddenly, on the second day after its release, I just started hitting direct hits almost all of the time. Since after that, I've been able to get direct hits on moving targets whether they're in their base or out in the open. When I encountered Reinforced Gun Carriage Magnums, they always seemed to get a direct hit on me or close. I started using it after the last 30% sale for alterations and it's s much fun and I'm able to hit direct hits most of the time. I remember not being able to handle it on the Test Server and said it wasn't for me but I made it work and I'm having fun with it.

I don't really play PRO Battles these days. If I do, it's a once in a while (probably every 3-5 days) Serpuhov battle or a frequent Silence Parkour battle. I basically live in MM now. These Magnums that play very good in PRO battles are experienced. They are also the ones to memorise the different angles and powers needed to hit particular parts of the base from a particular vantage spot they choose in a variety of maps (or whatever map they play on the most). I remember playing a Noise CTF on the Blue team as Magnum with another Magnum. I was barely getting any kills or doing damage but that guy was getting kills on every shot. I asked him what angle and power he used and he gave me 3 that worked from different parts of the Blue base. I used it with him and I saw my numbers increasing to the point where I was hitting players up there dead and centre. You can't make the bullet swerve in the air. You have to predetermine when the player would reach somewhere and charge it up for that particular spot. I've caught many players off guard with that.

I would say Magnum requires the most brainwork out of all of the turrets because you have to remember different angles and powers for different situations and for different platform levels for close range and long range.

I'm not completely refuting your claim but I'm just trying to instill the benefit of the doubt for them into you.

@Issimo No, it's just a new mechanic, get it?

You remember when it was actually OP, like when you could just lob shells off ledges?

It probably would've been fine if they had just nerfed it's short range capabilities instead of also it's splash mechanics.

Yeah, I do.

I didn't like that they nerfed the splash damage. My damage distribution doesn't seem so evenly distributed. I would need at least 1,500 damage to kill an unprotected medium hulls but most of the time, I do 1,300 or just barely under with 1400-1,475 damage. There are some times I would get 1,560 or and occasional 1,700 but it rarely goes higher than that. That's just for the direct damage. The splash damage is dependent on the direct damage of the shot. If my direct damage is going to be low like that most of the time, then my splash damage will also be low. I can shoot right behind an unprotected light hull and wouldn't kill it because of the decreased splash damage.

I'm really not liking the Reinforced Gun Carriage change. I'm hitting way less direct hits not and the ones I do require me to charge up to 100% or just below that. I can still work with it but it's frustrating when I can't even get the shot above the smallest ramp in Barda or even a wall. This'll take a lot of getting used to.

The reload decrease is quite delectable though. I'm able to correct my mistakes faster than before. I'll try out Mortar in MM some time in the future.

In this Silence battle, I had teamed with the Magnum that came first. That was a fun battle. He was the only one who had protection against me at the start and coming towards the end of mid-battle, 6 other players switched to Magnum protection They switched back a good bit before the end.

Ok, after a few more battles with it, I'm questioning whether or not that clean reload decrease was too much. I'm getting way better results and am actually enjoying playing Magnum (Reinforced Gun Carriage Magnum to be specific).

What I'm noticing with the RGC change is that I need to be close to make the most out of that angle decrease. I'm getting accustomed to the new angle but it still feels so lacklustre. I can't even shoot above the smallest ramp with Hornet in Barda or Kungur which basically look like this:

100-Charge-hits-there.png

And other issues are these:

I struggle to get my shots over ramps as big as these.  Struggle-to-reach-over-ramps-like-these.

And many of my shots hit walls like these at 100% charge. I have to rock my hull but doing that could make the shot fly off of the map.

Player: Alright, so I've sneaked my way to the enemy base, now I just need to wait for the right time to snatch their flag.

Magnum, at a higher elevation: I'm about to end this man's whole career.

Yeah, with RGC you need to really get used to rocking your hull, but if you can, you'll be shooting wherever you want. Though I haven't tried the 3° angle one, I was doing it with 5° on test :P Landed several succesful shots by rocking hornet and releasing when it felt "just right".

Even my m1 hornet m0.9 magnum mini account can feel the reload increase, already doing better in matches. Gonna get Automated gunpowder etc alteration on it tomorrow :D

It's actually a reload decrease.

I only rock my hull when I'm directly in front or behind a moving enemy and they are a good distance away.

One thing I did notice though was that on the first battle I used it, I was getting many shots above 1,500 damage meaning I was able to kill many unprotected medium hulls. I was really glad for that. That could probably just be my luck pooling up on one day and then letting me down for a long while after.

Although the buff is nice, the increased number of protections I'm seeing isn't. I had joined a CTF battle and 6 players had protection against me (4 enemies and 2 allies). Now is the time I'm expecting many Magnum modules to be equipped. I'm seeing an average of 3 in team battles and 4-5 in DM battles. Hornet works great against them but I die too quickly and often.

http://prntscr.com/nt6k5a

I didn't use a single drug here, I was literally roaming around the map, even inside the enemy base, shooting magnum at the enemies...

The magnum is 19/20 and titan is 1/10, with the automated gunpowder alt. it's ridiculous. Ever since buying titan to go with it I've been consistently topscoring.

It's so silly when you see those poor hornet fires charging at you only to be instantly vaporized by a 100% shot with 0° angle... :D

I don't think these unlimited range weapons needed a buff though.

Yeah, I think they overdid that buff. I'm getting all these lovely scores (even on the losing team) and encountering many protection modules.

I cleared their base twice and allowed many flags to be captured by my teammates. Hornet-Magnum.png

Then I had this battle.

I killed someone at the beginning and then a Wasp + RGC Magnum (sasha02122003) came into view briefly and one-shoted me. I then respawn and see two of them (Wasp + RGC Magnum) running into out base frantically and it looked akin to this but with only two chickens:

It was quite funny to witness that for a few seconds.

now this combination is awesome

Most Magnums I'm seeing now are either Reinforced Gun Carriage or Mortar Magnums. I think the reduced damage penalty for Mortar after the balance change is too powerful. Now it potentially parks it at a higher spot than Stock Magnum. And the protections man, it honestly hurts to see more than 2 protection modules on the enemy team far less on both teams:

Shall I get Striker or Magnum?? Tell me why as well please! I don’t know which to buy!

Which one???!

I'll be honest, I often find myself wishing I had magnum in battles. With some practice you can shoot everywhere you want. And with the last buff the firing rate is high.

Buying Magnum would give you a short-term gain. Tanki seems to have made it a star turret for the season so protection modules against it are expected to increase rapidly. I'm already noticing the increase.

Stock Striker has been unaffected during the last few balance changes and would not have many protection modules against it. Both have a learning curve that is higher than, say, Thunder, Smoky or Railgun.

I would recommend getting Striker. I'd say Striker is easier to aim than Magnum and will face less protection modules in the coming weeks.

I felt like having a topic where players could share different angle and power level combinations required to hit targets at any location on a map, but then it occurred to me that making such a topic would be a mistake since Magnum is already loathed by the majority of players.

However, just for the sake of it, try using an angle of 39° and a power level of 70 in Highways map, while standing near, but NOT directly behind any of the walls on the highest elevation part in your base. Your shots should land exactly on this part of the enemy base (the 2 bases are symmetrical). This is important because now you'll be striking the locations where a significant number of Shaft players like to hide, so you'll be doing your team a huge favor.

A generous Magnum player told me these 3 angles and powers when you're on the Blue team in Noise. These were supposed to hit the heart of the enemy base up top. I can't remember where you have to shoot each one but I know that one of them, you need to be here:

 Here-for-Magnum.png

Angles:      Powers:

   57              35

   89             100

   56              35

Although I don't use anything other than Reinforced Gun Carriage since I bought it and tried it out again, I'd take these into consideration.

Also, just before this may get lost in memory, a 100% velocity shot from the 5 degree angle RGC Magnum could reach from the edge of one base in Parma to the edge of the other. I wiped out so many enemies like that from my own base. Can't do that anymore though.  :(

Same with Highways, second highest elevation 100% power could kill so many people moving on the opposite base. On HBTY2, I did that so much... okay not so much I haven't been here long, but still it was fun.
