But trying knock off a hunters aim is equivalent to trying to knock off a titans aim.

Nope. My Hunter is stable but it is not anchored to the ground. I still receive impact force that affects my aim. I can't fight a Twins when I use isida. It pushes my Hunter up constantly and I'm wasting energy while I'm doing little to do damage with my Isida.

My close to M3 Hunter gets knocked around as well, but it isn't like the insane ragdoll that Viking is for me.

A slight shift in the Hunter's hull could mean the shot totally missing. Just like a slight shift in the Hunter's hull could mean the Thunder, Smoky, Gauss, Railgun, Shaft shot etc. missing.

Sometimes I get knocked around so badly that I fill with rage against my viking because I have nothing else that is moderately fast and not a oneshot wonder.

Especially frustrating a single smoky shot turning you 90 degrees and bumping you against an enemy titan so you no longer have hope to escape. Happened today with viking magnum... Multiple times.

But it's a million times less dramatic than it would be if you were using Viking.

If a rail hit a Viking in the corner, it would spin like 150+ degrees in that direction. Which is absolutely obnoxious.

*Rail with Viking OD misses 7/8ths of the shots*

Only if you're the one using viking though, because there are those enemy ones that are completely STIFF no matter what happens, one rail shot literally on the outermost corner? They're still facing you perfectly.

The Viking must be hacking then.

It's been a problem for a while. It's amazing the number of Vikings doing this though. I sometimes give them the benefit of the doubt and pin that outcome on server latency/different perspectives for different players, but this almost completely takes away what was detrimental to Viking.

The Viking could also be right up against a wall.

I haven't been knocked around a lot as a Viking lately myself, but that's because I'm staying the Hell away from the epicenter of the fights.

Which is ironic because Viking is kinda famously good with everything that requires close-range and not great with anything (except Thunder) that is long range.

I like Viking for Magnum because it provides a flat even platform to fire from behind cover. Some other hulls can more easily shoot over walls at lower angles but with Viking you can more easily fire at more extreme angles without exposing yourself to Shafts. Stock Magnum isn't for direct attacks anyways.

Was he using RGC, saboteur drone, or both?

RGC. I don't think I saw a drone. His GS was just above 9000 in the battle.

From his profile, Magnum + Viking is his main combo. He must have put in a lot of crystals to get it to M4 right after reaching Marshal, assuming that he bought it at Marshal.

Do they deal the same damage as regular mines? Because I'm very good at making direct hits and if so I think it might be better than RGC for me.

It has the same (wide) damage range as Stock Magnum, except the maximum damage is reduced by 15%.

M4 Stock: 1160 - 2330

M4 Mortar: 1160 - 1980.

If the shot misses the target, then a mine is placed, which deals the same damage as a mine supply, 1,200 - 2,400.

If you want the most out of the mines, avoid making direct hits. If you absolutely have to, then Mortar still has enough leeway to one-shot medium hulls. You're not going to be one-shotting light hulls anymore though.

When you really look at it, that mine is an instant Stock Magnum shot to the enemy. It has a very similar damage range, with slightly more average damage.

Use RGC only if you plan on making direct hits. As it is now horizontal, you can miss the shot entirely if it is charged too much.

Bought the RGC alt for Magnum during the sale. It's alright I guess, but pretty confusing. Magnum is that way no matter the Alteration, but 3° is a pretty weird angle. At the moment I regret buying it, but I guess I'll have to get used to it.
